Wedding Guide - Viamede Resort
Wedding Guide
Viamede Resort is the Kawartha Region’s top wedding destination. With 2000 feet of Stoney Lake
waterfront, 165 acres of pristine forest and a century-old chapel, Viamede Resort provides the perfect
setting for the wedding of a lifetime.
At Viamede Resort we want your wedding to be exactly the way you dreamed it. Never hesitate to
request a special menu item, unique cocktail or alternate timeline. We believe in making every wedding
a personalized experience for the happy couple. That’s why, for the weekend you choose, you will be
our only wedding. You’ll have the full attention of the wedding team, you won’t have to plan around
others and most importantly, it means it will only be about you!
It is your day, after all.
Ceremony Locations
Our two most popular ceremony sites are the outdoor Wedding Point, set on a grassy lawn between our
cottages overlooking Stoney Lake, and our historic Wedding Chapel, located just steps from the main
building. Both locations will provide you with a breathtaking setting for your wedding pictures and fond
memories for years to come.
For the couple seeking something boldly different, we are also open to discussing alternative ceremony
locations. Alternative options will depend on the size of your wedding but could include having your
ceremony on a dock, at our stunning Viking oak tree, or in front of our stone fireplace in the dining
room.
Should you select the outdoor Wedding Point as your ceremony site, we will be sure to have the
Wedding Chapel ready for you in the event of bad weather.
Reception Venue
You will have access to the 1885 dining room beginning at 11am the day of your wedding. Two hours of
assistance with decor set up is provided by our wedding coordinator. We are open to discussing
additional hours of decor assistance as needed, depending on your requirements there may be
additional fees for this.
In order to provide you with the best wedding experience we have limited our wedding size to a
maximum of 80 people. At this size we are able to seat everyone comfortably at round tables in the
main section of the dining room, leaving the verandah open for you to add your own fun touch to your
reception. We encourage you to consider using the space to add a photo booth or hot chocolate bar!

Beverages
Wine
As of spring 2015 our house wines are the Cave Red and Cave White blends offered by Cave Springs
from the Niagara Region. The red is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. The
white is a blend of Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc. These selections are included in your package and
are poured by servers throughout the dinner portion of the evening.
You do have the option to upgrade your selection should you choose. Our Mount Julian wine cellar holds
close to 100 wines and with contacts to many international agents and local wineries, we can find you
the perfect wine for your celebration.
Unfortunately, due to the fickleness of the wine market, we are not able to guarantee any wine
selection more than 3 months in advance. We also cannot allow you to bring your own wine, but we are
happy to do what we can to find your preferred wine through our suppliers.
Bar
Standard wedding bar options include either host bar (also known as open bar) or cash bar. There are
variations on each of these themes including the use of drink tickets or offering a toonie bar to your
guests. We can also change the type of bar during the evening so that you can offer one style before
dinner and another after dinner.
At Viamede Resort we like to make your wedding experience as personalized as possible. With that in
mind we are also able to provide personalized bar options for your event or order in specific beer or
liquor requests. Depending on the request there may be additional charges, but please ask us so we
may provide you with a quote.
Standard bar prices range from $6 - $9 plus 15% gratuity (host bar) and 13% HST.
Rehearsal
Most wedding couples have a rehearsal the day before their wedding. This is a great opportunity to
ensure that everyone understands the flow of the ceremony, but it also offers a smaller group the
chance to relax and enjoy the location before the formality of the wedding day. Should your officiant
not be able to attend this rehearsal, our wedding coordinator is able to assist with a complete walk
through.
There are many options at Viamede Resort for your rehearsal dinner. You are welcome to host your
own outdoor BBQ at your cottage for up to 15 people or select one of our rehearsal dinner menus which
can be served to you in one of our banquet rooms.
If you would like to liven up the evening with some entertainment, we can arrange a meeting with our
Recreation Manager to help you plan a fun filled evening! Depending on entertainment options
selected, additional costs may apply.

Accommodation
Viamede has 28 guest rooms and 18 cottages, which range from 1 to 3 bedrooms. As part of your
wedding deposit, we will hold 12 guest rooms in our main building for your guests. These 12 rooms
must all be booked by your wedding guests. Any rooms in this block which are not booked by your
wedding guests will become your responsibility.
Your guests may call us individually to book the rooms or you can assign rooms to specific guests and
provide us with a rooming list. Additional rooms can be added to your block once all 12 main building
rooms have been booked and confirmed. We maintain a two night minimum stay requirement for
weddings and weekends in general at the resort from May to October.
Due to the popularity of our cottages we are not able to offer a discounted rate. Our regular bed &
breakfast rates for cottages and our special wedding guest room rates are available from the wedding
coordinator upon request.
