Welcome to the 2014 Peter Horobin Saddlery Australian
Interschool Champs, an event that is looked forward to
all year! We hope that everyone who comes to compete
and catch up with friends has a fantastic week.
Our committee has worked hard to pull such an extensive
program together and would like to thank our sponsors
and our volunteers from all around Australia. Please make
sure that you acknowledge their contributions to the week
and interschool sport in your own way.
Naturally there are things that will challenge us during the

BrEEding: Ellanbrae Park breeds a number of high quality foals every year focusing on KWPN lines. Our philosophy is to begin with proven
mare lines & use only licensed stallions. We have a number of top quality mares & fillies in our breeding program, both imported & locally bred.
Simultaneously, we are breeding some foals each year in the Netherlands. While much of our breeding program is focused on producing horses
capable of reaching the top level in the sport of dressage, we also produce a number of smaller, quality all round horses each year destined to

EVENT ETIQUETTE
A few important things to remember at the event
Bicycles and Motorised bikes and scooters
In order to keep the event running as close to schedule
as possible, we will need the cooperation of team managers
and parents to ensure riders are on time for their classes.
Allocated rider time may vary slightly, but the draw order will
not. Stewards and officials are present to help the event run
smoothly and on time. For the safety of competitors and
spectators, please obey any directions given by a steward
or official.
Motorised bikes and scooters are not permitted.
This event is to be run under EA/FEI rules in so far as
they are applicable to this event and shall include any
other rules formulated by the organising Committee or
National Interschool Rules. We strongly recommend that
all competitors obtain a copy of the relevant EA/FEI Rules
through the EV website www.vic.equestrian.org.au.
Rider Number
Dogs
Dogs must be under effective control at all times and are not
allowed in marshalling or competition areas.
Horse Welfare
The welfare of the horse is paramount. Instances of cruelty
or mistreatment will be reported to the Organising Committee.
Unsoundness – Judges are required to satisfy themselves
regarding soundness of all horses and therefore have the
authority to stop an unsound horse during competition.
At other times a horse that is stopped or reported by an
official who considers it to be unsound must attend the
Veterinary Surgeon before continuing on in competition.
Each horse must wear a bridle or saddle number on each
side of bridle or saddle cloth. For showing classes a neck
number holder may be used. This must be worn at all times.
Competitors are to provide their own number holders.

Codes of Conduct for EA Conducted
Equestrian Events
Biosecurity Plan
It is the responsibility of parents, team managers and riders
to be aware of the Codes of Conduct for competitors,
spectators and volunteers as well as other relevant Codes
and Policies relating to the conducting of an equestrian event
under EA rules.
Volunteers and Helpers
The running of equestrian events relies heavily on volunteers.
At the Interschool Championships, volunteers will include
numerous parents and other supporters. Abuse by a rider,
parent or associated person that is aimed at any volunteer or
official at an EA Interschool event will not be tolerated.
Incidents of this nature will result in immediate elimination of
the rider. Many of our helpers are experienced, others are
not. Be sure to ask for assistance if you are unsure of what
to do. To keep the event on time, it is crucial for helpers to
report to the Volunteer Coordinator 15 minutes before their
scheduled duty begins and upon reporting to the designated
area there will be a handover from the current volunteer in the
role. It is the responsibility of the helper to notify the Volunteer
Coordinator and find a replacement if they are unable to
fulfil their allocated duty. Helpers who do not perform their
designated duty risk the elimination of their corresponding
competitor.
The use of prohibited substances in your horse is not
tolerated and riders must be aware that swabbing of horses
will occur at random and will be conducted at this event.
A simple explanation of ‘biosecurity’ is the action we take
around animals and at home to help stop pests and disease
from occurring, or if there is an outbreak, to stop them
spreading. Biosecurity is also general term for measures
designed to protect our country, state, events and individual
properties from the entry and spread of unwanted animals,
pests, diseases and weeds. Biosecurity measures are actions
owners and event organisers can take to keep horses
healthy, and properties free from disease.This event has a
biosecurity plan and policy on our web site make sure you
have read this document.

Off The Track Masterclass sponsored by Racing Victoria
is presented by Will Enzinger and Emily Anker covering
the process of transitioning the thoroughbred from racing
to eventing.
Will and Emily operate Wilky Park Performance Horses
in Macclesfield. Victoria’s Eventing power couple have
26 horses in work, ranging from young Off the Track
Thoroughbreds to 4 Star three day eventers, manage to
teach six lessons per day each and look after their 20 month
old son, Ethan!
Melbourne Three Day Event in 2004 . Will produced TS
Jamaimo, who won Adelaide CCI**** in 2014 with Chris
Burton after Will was unable to complete on the horse due
to a severely broken leg. Chris went on to represent Australia
on TS Jamaimo at the recent World Equestrian Games. Will
is currently named on Equestrian Australia’s Rio squad with
Wenlock Aquifer.
Aside from their riding skills, Will and Emily are two of
Victoria’s best coaches. Will recently gained his NCAS Level
3 Eventing Coach and Emily is an NCAS Level 1 Coach.
Will has been the Victorian Eventing Rider of the Year for the
last four years running, while Emily has competed at all of the
major 4 star Three day Events around the World: Badminton
- UK, Kentucky - USA, Luhmuhlen - Germany and Adelaide
with Balmoral Cavalier, who also won the CCI*** class at

OPENING CEREMONY - GRACE LAING
Monday 29th September
We’re pleased to announce that the very talented Grace Laing
will be performing at the opening ceremony of the Peter Horobin
Saddlery Australian International Equestrian Championships on
September 29th.
Grace Laing is 13 years old and born into a very horse associated
family with her Dad, Robbie Laing, a successful Thoroughbred
Trainer. Grace has ridden in interschool equestrian competitions for
her school Haileybury College and has done years of pony club at
Pakenham and also ridden in shows, horse trials, one day events,
ISJ’s, combined training days and more.
Grace has always loved to sing and three years ago she began
having weekly singing lessons. Last year Grace was one of 15
children on Team Delta in the first ever Voice Kids Australia on
Channel 9. Grace loved every minute of performing in front of the
amazing coaches and with that earned her position in Delta’s final
two. This was an amazing experience for Grace and served as a
great launching pad for her career.
