Corner Kicks
Welcome to week 5 of the fall 2007 soccer season. During the
next few weeks we are going to be asking our coaches to rate the
players on their teams to aid in making teams in the future. We
will use these ratings along with ratings obtained during
evaluation dates to try to balance teams for the future.
Registration for the spring 2008 soccer season will begin at 9am
on November 15, 2007. Registration will be online only on our
website www.ayso644.org. Since we have reduced field space in
the spring, the number of children that we can accommodate is
reduced. Therefore it will be important to register early in order to
get into the league.
Did you hear about the AYSO Region 644 Juggling Club? In
conjunction with Cor 4 Soccer and with the help of Soccer Max
and the official uniform of AYSO Region 644, Puma, we have
developed a fun and competitive way to sharpen your juggling
skills. Once each player attains a certain proficiency in juggling
they will win prizes such as certificates, t-shirts, Puma gift packs,
Puma soccer balls, Puma warm up suits and Puma travel bags.
You will also receive recognition on our website. For more
information please go to our website home page news section at
www.ayso644.org.
Saturday November 3, 2007 is an important day for us here at
AYSO Region 644. Living and playing here in South Florida,
we are susceptible to skin cancer. Our organization prides
itself by not only trying to provide you with an outstanding
program, but also making your lives better. Last year was our
organization’s first official participation in the American
Cancer Society’s “Relay For Life” which is held each year
here at the Weston Regional Park. We have decided to go a
step further and develop a fundraiser for the American
Cancer Society which we are calling “Goal For a Cure”. We
are asking for each child to participate in obtaining sponsors
for this event. Information packets and sponsorship forms for
each child were included in the coaches bags. The same
information is included in this issue of Dribbles and Kicks.
Our biggest source of pride in AYSO is how our youngsters seek
out and develop a sense of community. Lindsey Precht, a U16
player, has developed a community service project "The Costume
Closet". The mission of “The Costume Closet” is to distribute
new and gently used Halloween costumes to underprivileged
children. We are requesting that you donate your used or never
used Halloween costumes to kids who have none. Bring your
unwanted costumes to the AYSO building AFTER Halloween on
Saturday, November 3, 10, or 17th where a collection bin will be
located. The costumes will be distributed annually beginning in
2008 to kids in the care of local service and social organizations.
If you have any questions, please contact Lindsey Precht at 305827-9282. Thank you for supporting this service partnership by
donating your unwanted or outgrown Halloween costumes so they
can make another child as happy as they have your own.
Which team is the most creative and has the most team spirit?
Well this season we are having a contest where each team can
show their team spirit by producing a team banner. We have
already seen some banners being displayed at games and the
challenge is on for the rest of you. Our board of directors will
be going around to the games on Saturday November 10th
judging the best of the best. Winning teams will be selected
based on the creativity and spirit of the banner. The winners
in each division will receive a pizza party.
Did you know that three of our teams have been selected to go
to Hawaii next July to participate in the AYSO National
Games? The U19 Boys, U19 Girls and U14 Boys have received
invitations to the AYSO National Games. As we all know it
will be very expensive to send these kids to represent our
region and community in this week-long event. To this end,
the teams are beginning an outstanding fundraiser. They are
raffling off two three day four night cruises to the Bahamas
via Carnival Cruise Lines, a $1,398 value. In the coming
weeks they will be selling raffle tickets at $5 each or 3 for $10.
This is a great opportunity for these kids and a great way for
you to support them.
Have a great day this Saturday and I hope to see you on the fields.

A Word From Our Sponsors
“Let the Games Begin !”
The 2007 AYSO 644 Season Sponsors wish each of
you a great upcoming season full of fond soccer
memories. Likewise, we would like to take this
opportunity to thank our sponsors for their generous
support for which our program is dependent upon to be
successful. AYSO has established a tradition of
patronizing its sponsors, and we would encourage each
of you to personally thank those that you may already
do business with, or consider them if you find the need
for their services. AYSO is exceptionally grateful for
their year-over-year support through both their
financial contributions, as well as the time spent by the
majority of them volunteering as coaches, referees, and
team parents within our program.

First Annual Weston AYSO 644 Goal for a Cure
On November 3, 2007 Weston AYSO 644 will be hosting the First Annual Goal for a
Cure to benefit the American Cancer Society through the Relay For Life of Weston.
These funds will benefit the American Cancer Society’s programs of research,
education, advocacy and service – programs that can reduce cancer deaths and cancer
incidence, and improve the quality of life for cancer survivors. Please join us in our
efforts to make this a successful fundraising event and fight the war against Cancer! The
American Cancer Society is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization; their Federal ID #
is 59-0657320.
We are asking all of our players, coaches and parents to donate their time, effort and
money. This is a small task and if we all participate we should be able to raise a
substantial amount of money and build our children’s confidence in the meantime. They
will feel such accomplishment each and every time their team scores a goal knowing
they are helping people.
Please mark your calendars and have fun!
First Annual Weston AYSO 644 Goal for a Cure
November 3, 2007
Our first annual goal for a cure is a fun and fit activity for all ages, with all children reaching for their personal best.
Our goal is to help the fundraising committee raise at least $5,000 to fund The American Cancer Society in it’s effort in the
fight against cancer. These funds will benefit the American Cancer Society’s programs of research, education, advocacy and
service – programs that can reduce cancer deaths and cancer incidence, and improve the quality of life for cancer survivors. The
American Cancer Society is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization; their Federal ID # is 59-0657320. If each family raises
$2.00 per player, we will achieve our goal. We’re hoping to make this Fund Raiser the best ever, so the more contributions you
raise, the more successful we’ll be at achieving our goal. Thank you very much for your participation!
Rules
1. Participants may start collecting pledges as soon as they receive the pledge sheets. Reminder: Pledge sheets need
to be turned in to the team parents on the day of the event.
2. Pledges may be made by anyone.
3. Each sponsor making a pledge should write their own name, pledge per goal, and maximum
pledge. Participants may collect the pledge in advance but must keep pledges until all are collected.
The team that raises the most money will receive a Pizza Party on us! We look forward to all our players having a great
season!
