Review Week 2 Spring Term 2015-2016
Review week 2 will begin in school on the week beginning Monday 21st March. During this
review week, your child will be issued with a sticker which will be placed in their planner for
your information. This sticker contains assessment and attendance data along with any
achievement or behaviour points provided by the teachers. Information is also provided
concerning the amount of effort shown over the past term. The data on these stickers are
also supplied to you in a report. We hope that you will use this data as a way of discussing
your child’s progress during this period and how s/he might improve and set manageable
targets. We ask that you complete the section for parents entitled “Parent comment” and
sign off the comment section. There is also a section entitled ‘pupil target’, which will allow
you involvement in our target setting progress. We hope that by involving you in this review
you will feel more included in the teaching and learning process. This data will then form
part of a dialogue between all students and their form teachers as well as Heads of Year
and Heads of School.
The effort data provided follows the following criteria;
1 for effort = outstanding
2 for effort = very good
3 for effort = good
4 for effort = inconsistent
5 for effort = major concern
The achievement data recorded in the planner will take the form of a current “working at
level”, e.g. Level 5, Level 5+, in each subject at Key Stage 3. Please see the table below for
clarification.
Grade
Description
5+
High Level 5
5
Mid Level 5
5-
Low Level 5
For end of Key Stage levels in National Curriculum subjects, a pupil of ‘average’ ability
usually attains level 4 at the end of Year 6 and level 5/6 at the end of Year 9.
In Key Stages 4 and 5, pupils will be issued with a “working at grade”, e.g. A,B,C, etc. Please
be aware that if some assessment data is missing, this is because your child may not study
that particular subject in school. We hope that you find this exercise useful in addition to
the annual report that you receive so that you may continue to support your child in their
academic progress.
Please do not hesitate to contact the school if you have further questions regarding this
process.
