of you have a healthy and happy New Year.
A special Thank You to the Cayuga Lake Quilt Guild for hosting our

COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECT
Cuddle Quilts From Judy LeMay, QCNYS Historian
On December 5, 2012 the NYS Quilt Guild met at the United Methodist Church in Auburn for their Quarterly
meeting. On the agenda was the presentation of the Cuddle Quilts to the NYS Troopers' Foundation. After much
uncertainty as to whether the Troopers would take the small quilts and scrambling to find others who would
benefit from this project, we heard from the NYS Trooper Foundation that they could accept these quilts and
then distribute them to the Troopers. At approximately 2pm representatives of the foundation arrived along with
YNN reporter to document the presentation. Those representatives who attended were Rachael Mincher,
President of the foundation; Bruce Stauffer, Chairman of the Board for the foundation and NYS Trooper Mark
O'Donnell.
The QCNYS presented 780 Cuddle Quilts to the Foundation. The President and Chairman were amazed at the
number of quilts made by our group. We filled three cars with our donation. They expressed sincere gratitude to
the Consortium for their generosity and apologized for the confusion regarding the donation. They would like to
return for another meeting to make a formal presentation and officially thank QCNYS members for their
generosity.

From Pamela Langdon: I apologize for the confusion on the service project. I understand some of the
guilds did not receive the second notice to bring the cuddle quilts to the December meeting. If you
have any more, please bring them to the March meeting. I would like to have an actual count on the
cuddle quilts. Please email me the number of quilts your groups completed. I would have like to have
the numbers in the newsletter but just don't have an actual account. I was told over 850 at the
meeting and another 200 were picked up later.
