MARQUETTE (4-3)
December 8, 2012 • 2:05 p.m.
Al McGuire Center (4,000) • Milwaukee, Wis.
SETTING THE STAGE
Green Bay (5-2) stays on the road to close out the week, paying a visit to Marquette (4-3). Both
teams are coming off close road losses on Wednesday, with Marquette losing to Wisconsin 71-68
and Green Bay falling to Central Michigan 54-50. Today’s meeting will be the 39th all-time meeting between the two programs with the Phoenix holding a 30-8 record, dating back to 1980.
The Phoenix has won three of the last four meetings, using a 19-5 run to close the game and
come away with a 66-50 win against the Golden Eagles at the Kress Center last season. Thenjunior Adrian Ritchie led all scorers with 15 points in that contest.
THREE-POINT PLAY
1 TAKING CARE OF THE ROCK: Green Bay leads the Horizon League with a +7.1 turnover margin,
averaging 13.3 per game. The Phoenix committed just nine turnovers in the loss at Central
Michigan, despite facing a tough full-court defense for the majority of the contest. Sophomore
point guard Megan Lukan committed just one turnover against the Chippewas and averages only
two per game. The Barrie, Ontario, Canada native leads the Horizon League with a +2.4 assist/
turnover ratio.
2. YO, ADRIAN!: Senior Adrian Ritchie continues to put up impressive numbers during her senior
campaign after dropping 20 points, nine rebounds, three assists and three steals—all team
highs—against Central Michigan. The De Pere, Wis. native is averaging 17.9 points on nearly
48 percent shooting and 5.1 rebounds per game, and leads the Horizon League with 24 steals
through seven games. The recent 1,000-point club newcomer is on pace to crack into the top-10
list of all-time leading scorers in program history by the end of the 2012-13 season.
3. KEPT IN CHECK: The Phoenix has only allowed one opponent to score more than 54 points
through seven games this season, and leads the Horizon League allowing just 53.9 points per
game. Green Bay also holds the advantage for scoring margin with a +12.3 mark. Paced by Ritchie
and senior Sarah Eichler, the Phoenix averages 9.7 steals per game.

Solid Schedule: Green Bay’s 30-game schedule features six nonconference
opponents that appeared in postseason play last season. Four of Green Bay’s first
five opponents earned a spot in a postseason tournament in 2011-12. For the 26th
season the Phoenix tips off its season on the road. Notable opponents for the 201213 season include James Madison (L- OT), Richmond (W), Missouri (W), Marquette,
Wisconsin and St. Bonaventure, who advanced to the Sweet 16 during last season’s
NCAA Tournament.
Starting Sension: With Green Bay returning four of its five starters this season,
senior Stephanie Sension fills the fifth spot for the Phoenix in the starting line-up.
Sension has shined in her starting role, averaging 12.5 points per game and 6.3
rebounds per game. The 6-foot-3 Hopkins, Minn. native also has a team-high four

a game-high 25 and 10 rebounds while sinking a career-high 11 field goals in Green
Bay’s 75-48 win over Central Michigan Nov. 17. She became the 30th member of the
Green Bay women’s basketball 1,000-point club on Nov. 30 against Indianapolis after
drilling a three from the wing. The senior standout followed up her historic night
against Indianapolis by dropping 20 points and grabbing nine rebounds at Central
Michigan on Dec. 5. Ritchie also has a Horizon League-best 24 steals on the season,
averaging 3.7 per game.

on percentage) all-time in Division I and 14th winningest team all-time with 823
program victories. The Phoenix also completed its 35th-consecutive winning season

On April 5, 2012, Green Bay held
a press conference to announce the rehiring of Borseth, a popular and historic
move in that it was the first time the
program had welcomed back a head
coach for a second tenure. Not only
did the hiring excite Phoenix fans by
welcoming back a legendary coach, but
it also lured Borseth away from a job in
the Big Ten Conference and in his home
state.
Borseth spent the past five seasons
as the head coach at the University of
Michigan, where he compiled an overall
record of 87-73. Borseth took over a
program that had won just 21 games
in the prior three seasons combined
and led the Wolverines to 19 wins and
a postseason berth in his first season in
2007-08.

Despite holding a 26-18 halftime
advantage, visiting Green Bay couldn’t
hold off a second half charge by Central
Michigan and fell 54-50 on Wednesday.
After shooting 0-for-11 from long
range in the first half, the Chippewas

Ritchie, who posted 20 points and had
a team-high nine rebounds while
adding three assists and three steals.
Sophomore Megan Lukan faced a tough
full-court defense while bringing the ball
up the court for nearly the entire game,
but committed just one turnover in the
contest. The Barrie, Ontario, Canada native have seven points, five boards and a
team-high four steals.
The win splits the season series
between the two teams, as Green Bay
picked up a 75-48 home win against CMU

Horizon League Update
Green Bay basketball head coaches Kevin Borseth and Brian Wardle join host Matt

In the second half hour, Borseth joins Menzl on set for his inaugural season of Inside

club last week, Adrian Ritchie joined Borseth and Menzl to discuss her outstanding
accomplishment.
Inside Phoenix Basketball presented by Miller Lite, now in its third season and first
