All Saints is a weekly one-hour
series of self-contained stories
with several continuing threads
for permanent characters.
It is centred on the drama
of life in a hospital emergency
department seen through
the eyes of the people who
carry most responsibility for
it – the men and women
of the nursing staff.
The story philosophy of Blue
Heelers is to shed some light
on the human condition,
allowing audiences to compare
the ethical values and ordinary
human requirements of the
principal police characters
with their own. Each
episode alternates between
entertainment, action, tension,
humour, romance and always
includes a strong sense of right
and wrong.

in some cases youth may be

Bottle Top Bill is a beautifully
animated series centring on
Bottle Top Bill and his best

This is the story of one
Vietnamese family. For Charles
Tran Van Lam, his love of
democracy would turn into
a poisonous cocktail that
shattered his life. Forty years
later this is the story of his
nine children, flung to all
points of the compass. This
contemporary story is about
the cost of conflict, reality of
exile, loss of homeland, culture
and the closeness of family,
told through the eyes of the
children in their various and
culturally diverse locations.

Every 22 minutes, a civilian

the latter half of the 20th
century have left 110 million

the poor in over 60 countries.
In the ruined city of Kabul,

a former Mujaheddin soldier

An Australian woman, Jocelyn
Ortt-Saeed, lives with her
husband Saeed in their home
of many years in the Husain
Sugar Mill, in the Punjab region
of Pakistan. Two young people,
Nawaz the cook and Mehnaz
the maid, look after the house,
and live nearby. Filmed over
18 months, this observational
documentary captures the lives
and loves of this household.
Narration by Jocelyn seamlessly
moves the story from the upstairs
to the downstairs; from the
lounge room to the kitchen. This
soap opera of love affairs and
teenage angst happens against
the backdrop of current political
unrest in Pakistan. (Also available

The Great Barrier Reef is one of
the world’s natural wonders, a
maze of coral cays and islands stretching over 2000 kilometres
along the Queensland coast
from Gladstone to the Torres
Strait. The reef is many things
to different people. For some,
it’s a major tourist destination,
a fisherman’s paradise, and a
national park rolled into one.
For others, it’s simply home.
The reef is complex to manage
with competing commercial and
conservational interests. This
series follows the fortunes of
very different people working
or living along the reef, each
dealing with reef issues in their
own way.

The Shearers is a 4 x 1/2 hour
documentary series designed
for ABC-TV’s Reality Bites time
slot. It is both a contemporary
observational style story about
a group of young Tasmanian
shearers trying to break into
the profession and a narrative
about the industry’s rich and
turbulent history in Australia.
Silma Ihram has dedicated
her life to establishing a
school which will produce the
next generation of Australian
Muslims. It’s a dream she’s
given everything for – but the
dream turned into a nightmare
when she discovered that
her pupils were sitting on
contaminated land. Fighting to
reestablish her school, Silma
must juggle a bitter legal battle
and financial difficulties with
the needs of her students.
Can the school survive while
its principal pursues her
day in court and the justice
her students deserve? (Also

Craig and Tahnee are licensed
brumby runners living amongst
the beautiful wilderness of
the high country. They plan
to marry outdoors in just a
few weeks’ time. But nature
has other plans for them.
Vast, marauding bushfires
sweep the terrain, scuppering
their immediate wedding plans
and threatening not just their
home but their very lives.
The terrifying experience
of the fires, and the
predicament of the brumbies,
inspire Craig and Tahnee to
pursue a dream: to create a
sanctuary for the brumbies.

The film showcases Australia’s
splendid outback scenery
from deserts to mountains,
to the unbelievable Northern
Territory gorges, springs and
rivers. The film also showcases
David’s ability to catch by
hand some of Australia’s most
deadly snakes, including death
adders and the incredibly fast
whip snakes. Some scenes
in the movie are especially
breathtaking as David swims in
crocodile-infested rivers with
pythons, file snakes and turtles.
Outback Serpents is a must-see
Australian outback/action TV
special.

In 1978, Tom Lewis appeared
in the Australian feature ‘The
Chant of Jimmie Blacksmith’.
Jimmie Blacksmith’s life was
hauntingly close to Tom’s own:
a young man struggling for a
foothold on the edge of two
cultures. Tom’s mother is a
traditional Indigenous woman
of southern Arnhem Land, his
father a Welsh stockman who
he never really knew. Yellow
Fella is a journey across the
land and into Tom’s past as he
attempts to find the resting
place of his father.
