Writing Retreat
Join Dr. Beate Gilliar for another installment in the Fall Writing Retreats
with The Art of Living: Mindfulness through Writing on December 14 at 10am.
This workshop series engages the participants with writing and other
thoughtful practices by studying language, writing, literature and creativity at
large. The power of symbols, metaphors, imagery, rhythm and harmony will be
studied through a wide array of textual, musical and visual expressions. This
session will focus on inspiring images. Visual expressions (architecture included) impact mood and add a sense of joy, wonder, and awe. How to give words
to images, and how to inspire visual representations will be studied and practiced during this workshop. Be ready for the arts to arrive in ways not previously
imagined.
This program is free-of-charge and does not require sign-up.
Christmas Craft Day
Join us Saturday, December 14 from 1:30-4:30 pm
in the Blocher Room for our annual Christmas

and go as you please. Come create festive Christmas ornaments, a fun holiday wreath and more!
We will provide instructions and limited help for
those who need it. There will be refreshments offered and Christmas music playing! This program

Peace Corp Holiday Book Drive
The library will be collecting
gently-used or new children’s books to
send to Madagascar for the New Year.
These children are in need of new
books for their small library. The books
you donate will also be placed in a local school. Due to the road conditions
and lack of transportation, many families cannot make it the small library
pictured above. By collecting enough
books to place in the school, more
families and children will be touched
by your gift. There will collection boxes in both the adult and children’s department. You may start bringing in
your donations December 2. For the
first week, get $0.25 off a current fine
for each book donated.
Holiday Gifts
Are you looking for the perfect gift this holiday? Stop by the front desk and
check out the Friends of the Library items for sale. The newest items include:
locally made t-shirts, 14 oz. bistro mug, and stainless steel water bottles.
