OVERVIEW
IIpragaz, referred to as the ‘Blue Giant’ of the Turkish energy industry, is the leader of the
Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) sector in the country. With over 50 years of experience and many
first-ever achievements, Ipragaz established the LPG industry in Turkey and is one of the country’s
largest companies. Since 1961, the energy giant has made significant contributions to the Turkish
economy and has created several jobs.
Ipragaz opened its first official gas station in 1996 and has operated in the autogas sector for
private and commercial automobiles ever since. With its group of companies, it continues to
provide services for about 1,200 gas stations in Turkey.
At the end of 2004, Ipragaz initiated LNG (liquefied natural gas) operations and continues to serve
its customers throughout Turkey today.
The brand Ipragaz Elektrik started on September 1, 2012, when Ipragaz started selling electricity
wholesale, providing services to free consumers throughout Turkey.
Due to its long-standing history in Turkey, Ipragaz has many first-ever achievements, and in 2013
they entered the fuel industry under the brand GO.
With a strong focus on service quality, Ipragaz ensures all its products produced for households
and the rest of the industry have the company trademark. The products bearing the Ipragaz
trademark are produced in compliance with national and international standards, and with the
best technology. The products presented for consumers for storage of LPG are supplied to
consumers who have insurance coverage.
Ipragaz continues to provide services throughout Turkey with its 4,000 agencies, approximately
1,000 staff members and its indirect creation of 20,000 jobs.

WHY TREND MICRO
Deep Security support for energy team
Since 2013, Ipragaz has depended on the Trend Micro Deep Security solution to secure its servers.
Sener Sargın, Ipragaz Operations Support Manager, said that everyone at Ipragaz collaborates
with IT as one team, underlining that security is a critical issue in the energy industry. “We’re
definitely expected to act energetically. Now all systems are online. Today, even the largest
companies’ confidential information can be stolen. At this point, we need reliable solutions in the
energy industry, too.”
Sargın continued, “Until recently, when it came to security the first thing that came to mind was
anti-virus software and firewalls. Firewalls have become diversified, and now they have many
abilities. IPSs are used extensively. Besides, auxiliary security products have been introduced
and nobody confines themselves to only one company, or a single security solution. Therefore,
we looked for solutions that supported different platforms, could accelerate us, and make a
difference. We found Deep Security was the answer in this search.”
SOLUTION
Convenient management comes with Deep Security
Ipragaz now has an integrated solution for server virtualization due to its transition to Deep Security.
“When we saw Trend Micro products we realized that an anti-virus software only runs on servers and
monitors servers. Sometimes this software may not be compatible with every version. One of our
main concerns was that huge problems would arise in relation with system performance. We could do
something on one machine but not on another one. They were controlled by a console, but not actively,
which prevented us from doing quick interventions. We now have an integrated solution, due to our
transition to Deep Security. Now we manage a single product from a single window, so we manage
security levels for all servers from one point,” said Sargın.
Deep Security highly facilitates their security management and indicated that it has provided Ipragaz
with convenience. Setup and implementation of Deep Security was completed faster than expected.

performance, quick evaluation of servers, quick activation of policies and results - all of which we aimed
for before. Consequently, efficiency has exceeded our expectations.”
RESULT
Improved general system security
Sargın indicated that his company went through a renewal in the last couple months thanks
to the conveniences brought by Deep Security. “We employed one product to determine any
possible security vulnerabilities, but this became insufficient. Now, we capture them with two or
three different products, and immediately distribute the vulnerabilities between them, therefore
increasing the system security a level higher. Deep Security provides us with another plus, it
improves the general system security,” said Sargın.
Increased productivity
Ipragaz operated more productively following its transition to Deep Security. “We didn’t hire
new staff, but productivity definitely increased. Previously, we may have failed to notice some
vulnerabilities while managing security products. In time, it became evident that even the smallest
issues were important. At this point, it is critical for us to have multiple products that are easy to
manage in the system. It provides a huge benefit. We can control our system with less effort, while
being more productive.”
WHAT’S NEXT?
Sargın predicts that 2016 will be more intensive in terms of security both in Turkey and worldwide.
Ipragaz is happy to have moved its security systems to a more secure level and Sargın added the
company will continue to monitor its applications and work on them.
