Band News
By Holden Nobles
Some new students have recently joined the sixth and seventh grade bands. These new sixth grade
students are Samantha Knight playing flute, Tyler Wheeler on percussion, and John Swick also on
percussion. The seventh grade has added Maria Guzman and Brooklyn Sander both playing on the
baritone. We have also acquired a new tuba played by Ethan Martin.
In March of this year, the band will host a festival. Exact dates are still to be determined. The middle school students have said that this festival will be outstanding
for spectators and for all who hear. For the festival, the HS band will be playing The
Rites of Tamburo.
Sadly the Percussion Ensemble is temporarily cancelled because Ridge Grinstead is
off to college. However, our jazz group has been restarted, and they come after

Parents are busy people, but there are many different ways you can get involved in your child’s
education. No matter how little or how much time you have, there are many ways you can positively impact your child’s education at school and at home. Remember, when parents get involved
and stay involved, all students achieve at higher levels.
Beginning February 14, each week there will be tips, suggestions, websites, upcoming events, or
important dates that we hope will be helpful for parents as they support their child’s educational
experience at PCMS. Remember it takes parents, administrators, teachers, and students working
together to help students attain their goals and aspirations!

We interviewed Mrs.Nibblet’s ILT class to see
what was going on in the 6th grade classrooms.
In science the students told us that they were
learning about the solar system. Their favorite part
of learning about this is getting to know about all
the different planets.
In social studies the 6th graders are learning about the Cuban missile crisis. They are
also learning about the Zapatista movement. They enjoy learning about this because it
is interesting to them to learn about history.

8th Grade News
By Nicole Herndon, Shivani Patel, and Anna Grace Pope
This week in Mr. Morrison’s 8th grade class, we are doing
scatter plots with data. Then, we have to find the line of
best fit, which goes through the middle of all of the data.
In Mrs. Simmons class, we are participating in writing a
Let’s Move essay for Michelle Obama’s platform. Speaking of Mrs. Simmons, we miss you sooooo much! We hope you feel better and come
back soon!
Also, we hope that all of our regional science fair participants had a great time in Dublin
this past Wednesday!
