For the last 16 years Jackson Tennessee has hosted the NAIA Division I
Women’s Basketball Championship. Union University, one of three colleges here
in Jackson, is the back to back national champion of the tournament. Jackson is
also the home of the West Tennessee Diamond-Jaxs, the Double A affiliate of
the Chicago Cubs, Lambuth University, and Lane College.
Jackson has numerous moderately priced restaurants and hotels located on the
north side of Jackson close to the tournament site. The Old Hickory Mall is a
great place to spend some down time shopping and the Hollywood 16 Cinema
offers a great selection of movies on the big screen. You will find several nice
public golf courses in and around the Jackson area.
All four gyms are conveniently located on the campus of the University School of
Jackson (USJ), 232 McClellan Road, Jackson, TN 38305. The entire facility is
top notch. Well maintained gyms, large clean restrooms, well stocked concession
stand, large lighted parking area, all on a 30 acre campus. Individual trophies
and team trophies and will be awarded to all 1st & 2nd place teams.
Jackson is located on Interstate 40, approximately 80 miles northeast of
Memphis and 125 miles southwest of Nashville. We look forward to having all the
teams in Jackson on June 2nd.
