Chamber music is where "classical music” began!
Classical music started with a few musicians playing for a king's court. It grew to
today's large orchestras playing in halls designed to hold thousands. It includes
"Three Tenors" singing for tens of thousands in stadiums. From its intimate
beginnings, classical music has grown to proportions unthinkable centuries ago.
In these huge arenas, why has intimate chamber music endured? The answer is
axiomatic: “If it ain't broke, don't fix it.” When a small ensemble of self-directing
artists makes music, the pleasure of up-close sound and sight is as delightful to
us today as it was centuries ago for royalty.
Superlative music, fine instruments, and engaged audiences. These are the
pleasure principles that CCMS offers you for Season 64 in the acclaimed
acoustics of Plymouth Church near Shaker Square.
You can enhance your pleasure and our chamber music mission through
attendance (a full subscription is your best value at $18.75 per ticket vs. $20 last
year), membership, donations, and legacy gifts. You can also volunteer your
skills and talents.
Join CCMS this season and enjoy chamber concerts by the finest ensembles
from around the world. You, too, can share a timeless, intimate experience fit for
a king!

Cleveland Chamber Music Society Reaches Out
This season the interactive Outreach Program marks its seventh year of concerts for
Cleveland-area schools. Revived in 2008 by Gino V. Raffaelli, it has engaged more than
10,000 students. Two CIM student ensembles – a string quartet and a brass quintet – will
participate under the direction of Annie Fullard of the Cavani Quartet. CCMS continues
to sponsor Master Classes at the Cleveland Institute of Music and other schools. Both
the Outreach Program and Master Classes support the Society’s mission to stimulate
interest in classical music, encourage aspiring musicians to share their enthusiasm, and
develop chamber music lovers from childhood.
