Introduction
Once again we have been working incredibly hard
on developing our entire program. You will find
improvements in the various epoxy technologies .
we offer, a totally redesigned soft surfboard range .
as well as improvements in the finishes on many .
of our polyester surfboards. The 2009 product .
offering is the best by far.
As you go through this catalogue you will notice .
that we are targeting all the different levels and
styles of surfing. We aim to make our range the .
best offering there is no matter what level you are .
at or what type of waves you like to surf.
Our mantra is “Life is better when you surf”, .
we trust that as you look through the catalogue .
you find new boards that will help fuel your .
passion for surfing.
Range Notes
Our product engineers have been
working hard to continually improve this
brand. The weight of the boards this
year is lighter than ever. The finishes
are improved and the boards have to
be the best value for money on the
market. From Fish to Stand Up Paddle
boards all are aimed at the beginner to
intermediate levels of surfing. These
boards will out perform for sure.
It has taken a year or more to develop
this program. We have taken the ‘board
inside a board’ concept to make the
best soft surfboard program available
anywhere in the world. These boards are
great for beginners to learn all the basic
skills and more. They will out perform .
all expectations.
We have re-engineered the epoxy
construction of the South Point line. .
You will really notice a difference in
these boards, not only the feel but in
the way they perform in the water. The
finishes have been improved to allow
the boards to have a more responsive
feel. Stand Up Paddle boards gave this
brand a huge push last year and again
are a big part of the range.
The brand has a major introduction. As well as offering the Super Fish and
Super Fish XL in regular polyester, we
now have Epoxy technology. These new
boards are super light and very durable. As an extension to the Epoxy line we .
have added the Über Fish, a 9’8” Stand
Up Paddle board. These boards will be
really popular this year.
We have redeveloped the branding for
Blue with the introduction of a budget
priced Epoxy line. These boards focus on
the price conscious end of the market. They offer great value for money and will
be great first boards for many people
getting into surfing this summer.
We have taken the great Contour
Stringer design from last year and
upgraded it to have SLX construction. The SLX technology we introduced
last year with the Webber range has
been really well received on a number
of levels. The performance and
responsiveness being the key attributes
people have liked. This year we continue
the development of the range with the
Mini Fish, an ultra modern performance
fish which adds an exciting edge to this
very popular range.
We learned a lot from our first year with
the McTavish range. We have taken all
the feedback and developed a new high
performance model, F4, as well .
as redesigning the popular Fireball. .
You will find that we have introduced .
3 models in the SLX technology. New
colours in the popular Carver and
Eightball models have been added.
The Walden Stand Up Paddle board
proved to be one of the best selling
models last year. Consistently popular
was the Epoxy line as well. We have
refined the Walden program to ensure
that all the models carried are the most
popular performers. With the boom in Stand Up Paddling
we have developed a small range of
high performance paddles for use .
with SUPS
PHOTOS BY Darrell Wong
Year after year the NSP range just
gets better and better. We have been
working on reducing the overall
weight of the board and trying to
make them as attractive as possible
with new designs. So you will see
lots of new colours. We have also
added two SUPS to the range. The
NSP range has never been more fun.

Fish
These wide, flat, small-wave
machines ensure that you
have heaps of fun—even in
ordinary conditions. Featuring
new color schemes, archsupport tail pads with side
bars, and highly-refined E2 epoxy construction. The NSP
Fish range is your ticket to
extraordinary small-wave
performance.
6’4” Our full-size Fish design
features a broad nose and
wide body template combined
with a shallow entry rocker. This wide, flat combination
allows it to catch the smallest
of waves. Its generous
proportion handles bigger
riders than the 6’4” length
implies. Surprisingly fast .
and loose, it makes a perfect
first shortboard or addition to
your quiver

5’6” With its unique blend
of retro and modern features
this design incorporates a
flipped nose with shallow
entry and a wide body with
soft bump wing tapering
to swallow tail. This Fish
delivers great down the line
speed that translates those
less than perfect days into
good fun. Stable enough as
a first shortboard for the
groms, it makes a great
addition to almost any quiver.
6’0” Our mid-size Fish
design could possibly be the
most fun board in the NSP
line. This wide body design
is large enough to keep you
going, yet small enough to
allow plenty of maneuvering
on the face. Great down the
line speed turns on-shore
or small days into your
playground. A perfect first
shortboard or addition to your
quiver.

We have developed a range of paddles for use with Stand Up Boards.
There are two constructions; firstly, a carbon (blade, shaft and handle)
and secondly a fiberglass composite option.
Both paddles weigh approximately 800 grams so they are light. The benefit of the
carbon is the stiffness. The carbon allows the maximum amount of your effort to be transferred to torque giving you maximum thrust per stroke. The composite paddle isn’t quite as stiff, reducing your output slightly, but it is still very high quality.
The handles are not glued in place and allow the paddler to adjust the length of the paddle to 6 – 8 inches above their height before they glue it into place.
The blades are 8 1⁄2“ and give great performance no matter if you are in the surf or on flat water. Both paddles come with a deluxe carry bag for protection.

Fibre Composite Lightweight $365

GSI Soft Surfboards
We have developed these
boards to be the best soft
surfboards on the market. Best in performance so
people can learn to surf well
on them and best as far as
usage goes. Until now many
of the soft surfboards on the
market have been more like
toys. Our goal is to set the
standard.
We have adopted the ‘board
inside a board’ principle
that sees an EPS core with
a wooden stringer shaped
and glassed with epoxy
resin. Then it is wrapped
in materials that make the
board soft. This principle
ensures that you get the
best of both worlds. Firstly,
a board that will perform
really well as we can control
the shape of the board and
therefore the function and
secondly we can make the
board as soft as it needs to
be to still perform well. All
boards are constructed with
heat lamination for added
durability.

Designed Performance is the tagline
for the new South Point boards. Each South Point board has been
designed through collaboration
between a world-class surfer and
surfboard shaper. These rider/shaper
teams have worked tirelessly in the
development of the surfer’s quiver of
boards to create a specialised range
that’s duplicated with the South Point
Epoxy Construction, SPEC+. The
synergy of the masterfully designed
board with the latest in epoxy
technology creates performance,

5’7” The Logreco 5’7” combines old and new curves to create a traditional looking
Fish-styled board with modern performance. Current rockers are utilized with an outline
that features more curve than original fishes. This combination makes for a speedy board
that’s reasonably loose and can be ridden in a greater variety of conditions.
5’10” The Logreco 5’10” is a mid-sized, mid-volume fish and a great addition to your
quiver. Traditional in appearance, it features modern rockers and refined templates that
make it more versatile and fun than original fishes. Complete with custom keel fins and a
three tab FCS fin set-up that will also accommodate modern twins. This is a great board
that’s large enough to accommodate up to a 85kg/185lbs surfer. 6’1” The Logreco 6’1” has enough volume to accommodate medium to large surfers. It
features the same characteristics of the smaller models. The fin set up is adjustable with
5 fin plug design. You can really fine tune it to meet your preference. 5’7”

7’2” Bonga Model
This mid-sized funshape has great range and versatility. It paddles fast with shortboard like
rockers that help to create a responsive board that catches waves easily. Bonga’s influence
helped refine the board to excel in beach breaks and smaller Hawaiian conditions. A great
choice if you want some fun in your quiver.
7’6” Bonga Model
A great wave catcher and Carl’s personal favorite that’s been refined with Bonga’s feedback. Designed to cover a lot of territory, it works unreal in beach breaks and can handle bigger
waves when they come. Depending on where you live and surf it is possibly a one board

8’0” model
With east coast and tenure
in Hawaii, we’ve been
perfecting this mini tank for
three decades. It paddles
and surfs fast with low entry
rocker that provides great
wave catching ability. Bonga
and Carl worked to maintain
a balanced design with
enough nose width to ride
from the front, yet remains
neutral enough to ride from
the tail as well.
8’8” model
The smaller version of the
renowned 9’1”. For the
advanced surfer it’s the
refined longboard needed
for the big days or on
fast, down-the-line point
breaks. Additionally it’s foil
and reduced outline make
it perfectly suited as the
mainstay longboard for
riders around 165lb/75kg. A
great design that performs
in a multitude of conditions.
9’1” model
The quintessential high
performance, modern
longboard. Bonga’s 9’1”
is the board that Carl
and Bonga built their
relationship on. With a
decade of development
and on-going refinement,
it’s proven itself with
nothing less than a world
championship. Similar
to what ‘Bonga’ takes on
the tour, it’s been proven
in everything from waisthigh mush to second reef
Pipeline. 8’0”

9’1” MK2 model
The latest development from Schaper/Perkins is the 9’1” MK2 model. The MK2 is
noticeably thinner than the original Bonga with lower volume rails. Designed for
small to medium-sized surf, the vee and roll have been flattened to create a quicker
“out-of-the-gate” feel. This enhancement is combined with our latest rocker and a
slightly narrower nose and tail. It’s the next step in high-performance Longboards.”
Bonga 10’0”
Bonga’s high-performance,
wave riding stand-up design. The most noticeable feature
of the design is the stepdeck and rail. This unique
configuration creates a
full volume board with
disproportionately thin rails. The thinner rails allow the
board to bottom turn, carve
and fit in the pocket much .
like a standard longboard. Already a proven contest
winner, it’s designed as a
dedicated in-the-surf .

Slippah The 6’3” ”Slippah” was developed from a personal need for a more multi-faceted
short board. Tired of “hopping” in mediocre conditions, I began to develop a short board
that would get up to speed quickly and go as vertical as one could imagine. Two years of
development followed and “da Slippah” was born. Simply, it’s a versatile, high-performance
short board that works well in a wide range of conditions.
The 6’7” ”Slippah” is the secret weapon for larger or intermediate surfers looking for a
powerful shortboard that excels in everyday conditions. Concave entry blends to vee, planes
up quickly and offers plenty of drive and speed. The Tri/Quad fin option allows you to fine tune
to the conditions. The performance and versatility of “da Slippah” make it an excellent choice
for where ever you may surf.
Mini-Hune The 7’3” Mini-Hune is an incredibly versatile, full nosed funshape that handles
a multitude of conditions. A unique outline/rocker combination features a wide nose that
progressively tapers into a narrow rounded pintail. This creates a stable paddling board that
transitions quickly rail-to-rail when ridden from the tail. It’s best suited to 120lb/54kg and
lighter intermediates or 145lb/65kg and lighter experts.
7’7” Model: In smaller Surf the 7’7” Mini-Hune is a full-nosed cruiser that’s forgiving at
low speed. As the surf builds or in quick beach break conditions, surfers will experience a
responsive board with great performance and seamless rail-to-rail transitions. For many .
it’s the only fun-shape they will ever need. We designed this model for .
140lb/63kg and lighter intermediates or .
165lb/75kg and lighter experts.

George Downing
Is considered the greatest
big wave surfer ever by
many surfing journalists
and big wave surfers of
today. Born in 1930 George
started challenging the big
waves of Makaha in the
40’s. In pioneering large
surf George immediately
recognized the need for
specialised equipment
and subsequently became
a renowned Hawaiian
shaper. Mini-Hune 7’11” Model: The Largest of the Mini-Hune range, the 7’11” excels in a broad
range of conditions. Lighter riders, up to 150lb/68kg will enjoy a balanced mini-longboard
that’s smooth and catches waves easily. Larger surfers, up to 185lb/84kg will find a high
performance fun size with accentuated rockers that allow it to fit into tight pockets and be
ridden off the tail with characteristics of a much smaller board.
Longboard The 9’4” George Downing model is a full-sized, contemporary longboard
designed for larger surfers. A delicate balance of width and thickness create a high-bouyancy
shape that doesn’t sacrifice performance. The bottom contour blends from a disappearing
single concave into a gentle vee creating a longboard that can be easily ridden from the tip or
tail. Incredibly fun, this model’s a real gem. Keone Downing

Super Fish
The Super Fish is a
phenomenon! It is loved by
thousands of surfers around
the world who have bought
one since we launched the
board a couple of years ago. The secret to the success
of the Super Fish is in its
design. The most obvious one
is the step deck, this gives
the board a huge buoyancy
advantage but leaves the
board with high performance
rails. Secondly the bottom of
the board features low entry
rocker that feeds into a full
length concave that helps
the board get up and plane
quickly. This feeds through to
a double in the back to help
get the most out of turns. The
Super Fish will help you make
sections that you never have
before, it is fast and smooth. (A) Clear + Decals

Super Fish XL
The Super Fish XL was
designed because of
the constant feedback
we got from Surf Shops
saying bigger surfers and
Longboarders wanted to
get one but the 6’3” was
too small. So we introduced
the three larger sizes. The feedback has been
sensational. There is a size of
Super Fish XL for everyone. The 6’8” for people around
the 85kg / 185lb mark, the
7’3” for people between that
and 95kg / 205lb mark. Over
that you will be looking at the
8’0”. When you ride this board
you will find that it paddles
quickly because of the step
deck. You can take late
drops that you couldn’t on a
Longboard and you will do
bottom turns like you haven’t
for years. The Super Fish
XL is a joy to ride. We have
updated this model with the
Quad option. This makes it go
even faster and gives a new
meaning to smooth turns. (A) Clear + Decals

technology construction. This Epoxy construction has
been developed over the past

with the internal lay up of
the boards to enhance the
performance of the board
whilst still allowing the board
to maintain some flex. The
outer shell is strong and
will give you much more

Aussie Fish
The Aussie Fish is a Semi
Fish design. It has much less
volume in the nose than the
traditional old school Fishes
that were designed in the US. The Semi Fish design means
that it is a cross between
a performance shortboard
and a true fish design. It is a
great board to ride in small to
medium surf. It paddles easily
and will help you make the
most of being on the face of
the wave. The board features
a single concave bottom that
delivers extra speed and
drive while turning. This year
we have upgraded the glass
job to be more performance
orientated. The Aussie Fish is
probably the biggest sleeper
of the range. It rides well and
outperforms expectations
consistently. Clear + Decals
All boards are glassed with
a 2 x 4oz deck and 1 x 4oz
bottom with a patch on the

have been upgraded to a pro

Funboard The Funboard is a great board for people who want to learn but will allow their .
surfing to improve. By this we mean that the Funboard will get you up and surfing for sure, but if
you want to push it, it will stand up and perform. It features a pretty high performance single to
double concave bottom contour. It has a fair amount of nose rocker to help it paddle easily and is
wide enough to float you well. There are four sizes to suit surfers across a wide range. We have
simplified the cosmetic design and logo treatment to give the boards a fresh tribal look.
All boards are glassed with a 1 x 6oz and 1 x 4oz deck and 1 x 4oz bottom with a patch on the fin

Mini LB Our Mini Longboards are loved by thousands of people around the world. What they .
love the most is the generous proportions the board has that give you plenty of advantage. .

The Modern gives you more options .
and more grunt than any other Longboard .

Modern
The main features of this
board are the contour
rail stringers and the
SLX construction. The
Stringers are not made of
your traditional wood but
instead we have used heavy
duty fibreglass laminated
vertically parallel with the
rails of the board. This
gives the board a different,
more alive feel. The second
feature you will notice is
the exaggerated bottom
contours; this board is more
like a high performance
shortboard when you turn
it over. A deep full length
concave that flows into
sculptured concave vee tail
give the board an exciting
ability to turn as soon as
you want it to. The SLX
construction provides a
superlight weight responsive
Longboard. Finally we have
given you the option to ride
the board with three different
fin set ups. First as a quad
set up, second as a 2 + 1 and
finally as a single fin. We also
opted for the rounded pin tail
as it was more performance
orientated. All boards are glassed with
epoxy with a 2 x 6oz on deck
and 1 x 4oz bottom with a
6oz patch on the fin area. We give the boards the gloss
polish finish and they come
standard with 8” Centre fin

In 2008 we introduced the new Webber range which featured two major
breakthroughs for the brand. Firstly the full length double concave that most
of the boards in the range featured and secondly the SLX technology. Both of
these breakthroughs were very successful and well received to say the least.
Boards have been in short supply due to over demand since the launch. The
performance of the combination in the water is excellent. This year’s range has
had a few small tweaks and we introduce a new super high performance fish
shape to the range. Greg is one of the world’s truly unique surfboard designers.
Greg doesn’t follow trends he sets them. He is not afraid to put his concepts out
there on the edge so we all can enjoy surfing just that little bit more.

Shortboard - SLX
The short board has
medium rocker for a
balance between drive and
maneuverability, and a
deep double concave for a
balance between bite and
forgiveness. After 20 years
of designing surfboards for
professional surfers, Greg
has have refined the high
performance short board
to have as much speed
and response as the best
can handle, while adding a
degree of forgiveness which
is as necessary for the best
as it is for the thousands
of competent surfers out
there. The two concaves
create the turbo like speed
increase, with the vee acting
like a silky smooth gear box,
interlinking turns without
conscious thought. All boards are glassed with
a 2 x 4oz and a 3/4 length
patch on the deck and .

Afterburner - SLX
The 09 Afterburner maintains
the overall theme that has
made this design synonymous
with the concept of the all
rounder. The new addition of
the nose to tail double concave
has extended the speed of the
board without losing an ounce
of the flow, freedom and range
of use that board has always
had.
Greg perfected the deep
double after many years
of using the deep double
concave through the tail of
the Afterburner. He has also
slightly increased nose and
center width, so that the new
Afterburner is a touch more
fish-like, making it about
halfway between a short
board and a true fish.
All boards are glassed with

FATburner - SLX
The Fatburner has evolved
into a slightly more subtle
version of its chunky former
self. While the Afterburner
has become more fishy, the
new Fatburner has been
refined by maintaining, but
hiding the much desired
volume into a much sexier
package. The nose, tail
and rails are a touch finer,
yet the center thickness is
slightly increased to offset
these refinements. This is a
great paddling, easy riding,
true fish shape, but with
it’s super smooth rocker
and straighter tail plan
shape there is a degree of
hold uncommon in most
fish shapes. This hold
and stability makes for a
surprising ride in bigger
waves. The big guy’s all
rounder!
All boards are glassed with .
2 x 4oz and a 3/4 4oz patch
on the deck and 1 x 4oz
bottom with a patch on the

The Spoon - SLX
The Spoon maintains the
classic single to double
combination of our previous
range, to offer a small wave
fish in it’s traditional form. However, to add some
spice, it has been adapted
to suit the quad set-up by
slightly widening the tail and
increasing the depth of the
double concave in the tail. With the rounded nose there
is nothing in front of you to
even look at, so once you’re
on the four driving fins at the
tail, this high performance
fish will certainly fly. We
have given this board 5 FCS
plugs so you can ride it as a
Quad or as a Tri fin. All boards are glassed with
a 2 x 4oz and a 3/4 length
patch on the deck and .
1 x 4oz bottom with a patch
on the fin area. We give
the boards either the silky
smooth Pro finish and they

Mini Fish
The Mini Fish uses very high
volume for paddle and glide,
but has curves which fit into,
and grip onto the wave face. When fish shapes are too
flat in rocker, or parallel in
plan shape, they cannot be
surfed naturally, because
they are too straight for the
curved parts of the wave. You
have to surf the board not the
wave. The Mini Fish has deep
double concaves and deep
raked flexing twin fins, all of
which allows the free curves
to be fully utilized. Looseness
without grip and drive is
weak and twitchy. The Mini
Fish is fast and free, but
strong when on rail, to allow
for surprisingly hard radical
turns in small waves. All boards are glassed with
a 2 x 4oz and a 3/4 length
patch on the deck and .
1 x 4oz bottom with a patch

McTavish SLX range
The 2009 range sees 3 McTavish models available in all-new SLX EPS/epoxy construction;
the 8’1” Carver, 9’1” Fireball and 9’1” F4. SLX is an all new construction that brings together
the best elements of EPS and Epoxy, like reduced weight and added strength, without
the common side-effects of excessive stiffness, or lack of feel. The result of the unique
construction process gives a very light-weight board, that retains an excellent flex pattern, as
well as adding a little extra buoyancy. Performance on these boards is very dynamic, as they
are fast and responsive, communicating with the rider at a higher level. SLX technology is a
step towards the future of high-performance surfboard construction. Carver SLX Clear with Pinline

Carver
The CARVER is actually a shortboard with added wave-catching and comfort zones
grafted on! Its engine is a stiff-rockered zone with double-concaves right under your
feet in a turn, and the front fins pulled right up under your back foot, supplying speed,
acceleration, looseness and comfort all from the one generous sweet-spot. The front
section is light and bevelled, giving that real shortboard feel, yet enabling fast easy
paddling. The ideal design! Just surf it like a shortboard, but with a massive wave-count. TECHNICALS
> Exclusive 3-stage
rocker, for safe drops
and fast acceleration.
> Thruster fins mounted
well forward for
“shortness”.
> Nose concave for easy
wave catching and
lightness.
> Forward bevels for
“no-catch” re-entries.
> Double-concaves in
tail for acceleration.

Eightball
A revved-up longboard, the EIGHTBALL is a reduced FIREBALL, supplying great paddling,
easy speed, turning and fast trimming, and even a sneaky noseride here and there. You need
to treat the EIGHTBALL like a longboard, that is, walking forward, gaining a world of glide
and trim that are the trademarks of Longboards. Just covering acres of water easily. But it’s
reduced length means you can zap it, whack it, and punch the lip in a series of linked turns
if you wish, something that 9 foot boards just find hard to do. The EIGHTBALL: revved-up
longboarding at it’s best!
TECHNICALS

rocker for safe drops

> Tri-fins mounted well

integrates the famous
original Magic Model rocker
combined with concaves for
stability and V-bottom for

Mini Magic
Magic 3
7’0” & 7’6” The Mini Magic is
a scaled down version of the
original Magic Model. This board
performs as well in slow surf as
it does on speedy beach breaks.
The Magic 3 is basically the
same board as the Magic Model,
but with a more extreme design
and an emphasis on maximum
speed and maneuverability. The
Magic 3 has a wider concave
nose merging into the famous
magic double concave tail. The
rocker on the bottom curve is
slightly flatter for even more
speed and planing. Developed
for maximum speed on a lined
up wave, nothing goes faster. While the Mini Magic is smaller
than the Magic Model it still
maneuvers well out of turns
while maintaining a forgiving
nature. This board also has
excellent nose riding capability.
An all around fun board! It is
perfectly suited to the beginner
who wants to get a board that
they can ride for years as their
level of expertise grows, as well
the better surfer because the
Mini Magic will be able to handle
everything you throw at it.

MAGIC MODEL The Magic Model is one of the most sophisticated Longboards ever
designed. Originally built in 1981, the Magic Model was years ahead of its time and has
become the prototype of the modern Longboard. The Magic Model has been tested and
improved for over twenty years and today its performance is unmatched. The Magic
Model is a great nose riding board, this is your all around performance Longboard,
just as fun in small surf as it is in larger waves. The Magic Model is designed with a
concave nose flowing to the middle of the board that transitions into double concave
hulls extending to the tail with a moderate “Vee”. The rails are hard in the rear and
soften to the nose to maintain responsiveness in all conditions. Although the rails tend
to be harder than most other Longboards, the unique bottom curve and beveled rails
keep them from catching like most other hard rail boards. There are five 3 Phase Epoxy

SuperWide
The Walden Superwide is
an extension to the Mini
Magic line, is a wider thicker
more compact board for the
surfer who wants maximum
performance with maximum
flotation and glide. You can go
up to a couple of feet shorter
than the board you normally
ride. We took the volume that
would have been in the length
and added it to the width and
thickness. The Superwide
is about 1-2” wider than the
standard mini magic and
about a 1/4” thicker. The
Superwide’s added width
and thickness allow you to
surf shorter without the loss
of flotation. Super volume
and super performance in a
