Infant Baptisms
The Sacrament of Baptism is celebrated with parent and godparent
catechesis on the first Sunday of the month and Baptisms usually on
the second and fourth Sunday at 2:00pm. Call the Parish Center to

Anointing of the Sick
The church encourages all who are ill, about to undergo surgery, or
confined to their home due to illness be to prayed over and anointed
with sacred oil. This can take place at a parish Mass, or in the home
or in the hospital. Please do not wait for the last moment for
yourself or a loved one to be anointed and by all means speak to a
priest for more information or details.

MENSAGEM DA PASTORAL DO DIZIMO
"Dízimo e Oferta: qual é a diferença?
Em Levítico 27, 30 podemos ler que “Todos os dízimos da terra, tomados
das sementes do solo ou dos frutos das árvores são propriedade do Senhor:
é uma coisa consagrada ao Senhor.”
Desta forma, o dízimo é a devolução do que pertence a Deus, pois é
propriedade do Senhor que estava sob nossa tutela. Se devolvemos o que
pertence a Deus, o que nos sobra é nosso por obra e graça de Deus e
podemos fazer uso conforme nossas necessidades. No entanto, a nossa
generosidade cristã nos impulsiona muitas vezes a compartilhar com nossa
comunidade parte do que é nosso. Esta contribuição feita a partir do que
nos pertence, após devolver o que pertence a Deus, é uma oferta. Portanto,
o Dízimo não nos pertence, pertence a Deus e por isso Lhe deve ser
devolvido. Já a oferta é compartilhar parte do que é nosso por direito e,
portanto, é expressão de generosidade para com os irmãos e amor e
gratidão a Deus por tudo que Dele recebemos.Cada um que dá as suas
ofertas com alegria, é co-participante da obra do Senhor, construída com
aquela oferta. Tanto o dízimo quanto a oferta devem ser medidos
conforme o coração, porque o coração tem a medida do amor e da justiça,
da abundância e nunca da miséria. Quando eu conheço as necessidades da
minha comunidade, dos meus irmãos, devo corresponder a estas
necessidades. Seja dizimista e continue colaborando com suas ofertas!

PONDERAÇÕES DO PE. RON
This certainly has been a beautiful week weatherwise – more like summer than spring. But the trees
and flowers are sure a welcome sight after the
dullness of nature throughout winter.
Esta certamente foi uma bela semana de bom
tempo – mais como verão que a primavera. Mas as
árvores e as flores são com certeza uma bem-vinda
vista- após o cinzento da natureza durante todo o
inverno.
Last Sunday evening we held a group prayer
session for all those who participated in the Lenten
Longings’ program. Once again this year we had
nearly sixty people that took part each week during
the Lenten season. And the overall response among
participants has been very positive. It is not only
encouraging but spiritually uplifting to realize that
groups of people all over the parish gathered for
prayer and reflection on the Scriptures. This is the
heart of any parish life.
Na noite de Domingo passado, nós realizámos uma
sessão do grupo de oração para todos aqueles que
participaram do programa dos Anseios Quaresmais.
Mais uma vez este ano nós tivemos quase sessenta
pessoas que participam semanalmente durante a
Quaresma. E a resposta global entre os
participantes foi muito positiva. É não só animador
mas espiritualmente edificante para perceber que os
grupos de pessoas de toda a paróquia se reuniram
para a oração e reflexão das Escrituras. Este é o
coração de qualquer vida paroquial.
This week I plan to take a few days away to refresh
myself. Fr. Tony and the priests at Immaculate
Conception in Marlborough will be covering for
me. It gets more and more difficult to find priests
for coverage these days. Thankfully Fr. Peter
Devlin will be coming once again from Ireland for
June; and an African priest will be with us July and
August.
Esta semana Eu pretendo estar alguns dias afastado
para refazer-me. O Padre Tony e os sacerdotes da
Imaculada Conceição em Marlborough estarão
cobrindo para mim. Está ficando mais e mais difícil
encontrar padres para cobertura nestes dias de hoje.
Felizmente o Padre Peter Devlin da Irlanda estará
connosco mais uma vez para Junho; e um Padre
Africano estará connosco em Julho e Agosto.
I continue to hear from Fr. Sam and Fr. Julius via
email. Fr. Julius’ mother died this past year so we
ask that you keep him and his family in your
prayers.
Eu continuo a ouvir do Padre Sam e do Padre Julio
via e-mail. A mãe do Padre Julio morreu no ano

Finally my Sam won’t be coming away with me
but will be well cared for – and maybe even miss

PRIMEIRA COMUNHÃO
As nossas liturgias da Primeira Comunhão começam
no Domingo, dia 6 de Maio à 1:00hr da tarde com duas
celebrações adicionais seguindo no Sábado, dias 12 e
19 de Maio às 11:00hrs da manhã. Nós somos
abençoados com 72 crianças que se juntam a nós na
mesa Eucarística deste ano. Pedem-se aos paroquianos
que mantenha esses pequeninos e suas famílias em
oração enquanto eles se preparam para este evento
maravilhoso.
FIRST COMMUNION
Our First Communion liturgies start on Sunday, May
6th at 1:00 p.m. with two additional celebrations
following on Saturdays, May 12th and 19th at 11:00 a.m.
We are blessed with 72 children who will join us at the
Eucharistic table this year. Parishioners are asked to
please keep these little ones and their families in prayer
as they prepare for this wonderful event.

First Communion Rehearsals are scheduled as

the upper church at 7:30 p.m.

EDGE: a reunião do 8º Grau de EDGE marcada para
esta Segunda-Feira, dia 23 de Abril foi cancelada
devido a viagem a Washington DC que se inicia no dia
24 de Abril. O 8º grau terá apenas uma reunião em
Abril no dia 30. As reuniões do final do ano lectivo terá

EDGE - the Grade 8 EDGE meeting scheduled for this
Monday, April 23rd has been cancelled due to their
Washington DC trip beginning on the 24th of April.
Grade 8 will have only one meeting in April on the 30th.
The final meetings of the school year will take place in
May: for Grade 6 on May 7th, Grade 7 on May 14 and
for Grade 8 on May 21st. All Edge meetings take place
on Monday evenings from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the
parish center.

3rd Sunday of Easter
Terceiro Domingo da Páscoa
The traditional opening of the fishing season in many
places takes place between the end of April and the
middle of May. Although the exact day can vary by
locale, usually by May 15, everything is fair game with
the exception of a few sport fish, which are heavily
regulated. Much like hunters who can't wait to go after
their favorite game, fishermen anxiously wait for the
opportunity to cast their lines into open water. Some
look forward to participating in fishing contests to try to
win a prize for the largest of a particular species. But
most are happy just to catch enough to enjoy some
good meals of fresh fish.
A tradicional abertura da temporada de pesca em muitos
lugares é feita entre o final de Abril e meados de Maio.
Embora o dia exato pode variar por localidade, geralmente
por 15 de Maio, tudo é jogo justo com exceção de alguns
peixes de desportes, que são fortemente regulamentado.
Muito como caçadores que não podem esperar para ir atrás
de seu jogo favorito, pescadores esperam ansiosamente a
oportunidade de lançar suas linhas em águas abertas. Alguns
ansiosos para participar em concursos de pesca para tentar
ganhar um prêmio para o maior de uma determinada espécie.
Mas a maioria é feliz apenas em pegar o suficiente para
apreciar algumas boas refeições de peixe fresco.
Quando Jesus aparece aos seus discípulos após sua
ressurreição, uma das coisas que ele faz, de acordo com
Lucas e João, é comer peixe em sua presença. Para os
escritores dos Evangelhos esta é uma maneira de indicar que
o corpo ressuscitado, qualquer que seja pode realmente ser, e
é também um corpo humano. O Senhor ressuscitado não é
nenhum fantasma; Ele é o corpo ressuscitado dentre os
mortos! Esta verdade é o cerne da nossa fé. Como afirma
Pedro na primeira leitura hoje, "Deus ressuscitou dentre os
mortos; disto nós somos testemunhas."
When Jesus appears to his disciples after his
resurrection one of the things that he does, according to
both Luke and John, is to eat fish in their presence. For
the Gospel writers this is a way of indicating that the
resurrected body, whatever it may actually be, is also a
human body. The risen Lord is no ghost; he is bodily
raised from the dead! This truth is at the core of our
faith. As Peter states in the first reading today, "God
raised him from the dead; of this we are witnesses."
Nós somos hoje testemunhas da mesma verdade. As velhas
piadas sobre todos os pescadores têm exageros como tema.
O maior deles sempre vão embora. O peixe de quinze
polegadas de repente é vinte e cinco centímetros, e cinco
libras acabam tornando-se dez libras na narração da história.
Como Cristãos, nós temos a nossa própria história para
contar. Mas não é uma história de peixe. É uma história
sobre Aquele que conquistou o pecado e a morte através de
sua própria morte e ressurreição. Pelo nosso baptismo nós
somos gerados para uma nova vida pelo Autor da vida.
Como Pedro, que foi ele próprio um pescador, nós somos
chamados a testemunhar esta verdade no mundo. É hora de

We are witnesses of that same truth today. The old
jokes about fishermen all have exaggeration as a theme.
The biggest one always gets away. Fifteen-inch fish are
suddenly twenty-five inches, and five pounders end up
becoming ten pounds in the telling of the story. As
Christians, we have our own story to tell. But it's not a
fish story. It is a story about the One who conquered sin
and death through his own death and resurrection.
Through our baptism we are raised to new life by the
Author of life. Like Peter, who was himself a
fisherman, we are called to testify to this truth in the
