COSMONAUTA
COSMONAUT
A Film by Carlo Mazzacurati
A Film by Gabriele Muccino
A Film by Susanna Nicchiarelli
Director Gianni Dubois (Silvio Orlando) is in his 50s
and hasn’t made a film for five years. As bad luck
would have it, damaged pipes at the little apartment
he owns in a Tuscan village choose that week to
burst, destroying a 16thC fresco in the church next
door. He is summoned to the village to sort it out
and instead of paying for a restoration is blackmailed into directing the town’s Passion Play for
Easter. If he doesn’t they will report him to the
Cultural Heritage Department and ruin what is left
of his reputation.
Nine years later, we catch up with the characters
of The Last Kiss. Carlo and his friends are each at
various crossroads in their lives. Now in their forties,
they have left behind the heady days of bachelorhood, casual affairs and unrealistic dreams. Now
there are children to get to school on time, separations to negotiate, jobs to take seriously, pills for
various ailments, and routines to follow. They
have lost the passion that drove their relationships
and careers and are left wondering, what happens
next. Is this it for the next 20, 30 years? Is it too
late? Is life “over”?
It’s 1957 and the Soviets have just launched Laika
the dog into outer space. Luciana is nine years old
and escaping from the most important part of her
Holy Communion ceremony, announcing to her
frustrated family “I’m not going back there because
I’m a Communist!”.1963 and aged fifteen, Luciana
is now a member of the local FIGC, the Italian
Federation of Young Communists, attending the
same local branch her father once attended.

LOOSE CANNONS
SEI VENEZIA
SEI VENEZIA
A Film by Gianni Di Gregorio
A Film by Ferzan Ozpetek
A Documentary by Carlo Mazzacurati
Gianni is a middle-aged man, the only son of his
widowed mother, with whom he lives in an old
house in central Rome. Living under the tyranny
of this impoverished aristocrat, his life drags on
between housework and going to the bar. The
day before the August bank holiday the condominium manager asks him to take his mother into
his home for the two days of the bank holiday. In
exchange, he will knock some money off the condominium debts Gianni has run up over the years.
Tommaso, has come home from Rome for an important family dinner at which his father will hand
over the management of the pasta factory to him
and his brother. Tommaso plans to announce at the
dinner that he is gay. But that evening he is upstaged by his brother who, to Tommaso’s surprise,
reveals his own secret! Tommaso reluctantly steps
in to run the factory but his heart isn’t it. A surprise
visit from his friends forces the family secrets to
the surface in this warm, generous and moving
comedy.
What is the feeling of a city? Its streets, its light,
the people who live there and their stories. But it’s
not only that. There is something else, something
that needs time and attention to be seized.
“Sei Venezia” goes in search of this feeling through
the city and its lagoon, in its corners and days, by
listening to the stories of six inhabitants: a chambermaid, an old archaeologist, a retired man from
Mestre, a painter-fisherman, an apartment thief
and a young boy.

A film by Aureliano Amadei
A film by Massimo Natale
A film by Ricky Tognazzi
Aureliano, 28 year old anarchist and anti-war
activist with a passion for cinema gets an offer in
Iraq as assistant director on a film about the Italian
military “peace mission”. Witness and victim of
the attack on the Italian army barracks in Nassiriya
on the 12th of November 2003, he becomes an
accidental hero…
The summer of 1980 was a tragic summer of bloodshed, marked by the shooting down of the DC9
plane in the skies over Ustica in june and the terrorist bombing in Bologna’s train station on the 2nd
of August: two tragic episodes that are the backstage of the story of Martino, an Italian boy, and
Clark, an American captain. A relationship that
began and developed by teaching how to surf, and
taught each one of them how to tackle their ghosts.
Diego and Walid, two fathers who have the same
painful destiny in common: a seriously handicapped

AS MELHORES COISAS DO MUNDO
THE BEST THINGS IN THE WORLD
DALLA VITA IN POI
PETTY LETTERS AND LOVE CRIMES
A film by Piergiorgio Gay
A film by Lais Bodanzky
A film by Gianfrancesco Lazotti
Thirty years of stories and thirty years of Italy’s
history: from the Bologna disaster to the G8, from
the murder of Falcone and Borsellino to the fight
against the mafia. The film tells about how we
were, where we came from and the country we
became today, starting from the music and words
of Luciano Ligabue.
Mano is fifteen. He loves playing his guitar, hanging around with friends, and riding his bike. An
unexpected event in the family makes him realize
that adult life is neither easy nor always pleasant.
He drops from school, is at odds with his mother,
is full of uncertainties and prejudices. The discovery
of love transforms his adolescence in a problematic
experience. Freely based on the series of books
‘MANO’ by Gilberto Dimenstein and Heloisa Prieto.
Rosalba loves Danilo, a young man who is serving
a long prison sentence. To ease his detention, she
decides to write him a sweet letter every day.
However it is not easy to translate her feelings into
words, so she turns for help to Katia, her best friend,
who is confined to a wheelchair. Katia takes on the
role of love promoter, just like Cyrano de Bergerac,
but it soon becomes complicated, as little by little
those emotions, those poetic lines conceived for
Rosalba, become her own, and Danilo's passionate
replies begin to belong to Katia.

UBALDO TERZANI HORROR SHOW
NAPOLI NAPOLI NAPOLI
A film by Gaetano Di Vaio
A film by Gabriele Albanesi
A film by Abel Ferrara
Their Xmas is a tale of the everyday lives of women
with the family in the jails of Naples during the
symbolic time of the year that is Christmas. The film
tells the story of these women; stories of solitude
and dignity, of daily difficulties…
Alessio Rinaldi, a young 25 years old director, get
the charge form a producer to write a script of his
first movie with Ubaldo Terzani, a well know and
charismatic writer of horror novel. Alessio moves
into Terzani’ s house to start this collaboration…
Napoli Napoli Napoli is not a portrait of the city
itself, but a deep sight into its humanity, vital and
brutal, passionate and cruel at the same time. While
interviewing a group of female convicts in Pozzuoli
State Prison, Abel Ferrara was deeply impressed
by their statement, such harsh and fatalistic. He
then decided to base on their life experiences
three different screenplays, written by Peppe
Lanzetta, Maurizio Braucci and Gaetano Di Vaio.

GIANNI E LE DONNE
THE SALT OF LIFE
A film by Gianni Di Gregorio
Gianni, a recently retired house husband has many things to worry about but romance is not one of them.
He lives with his wife and daughter in a small apartment in Rome. His days slip by walking his and his gorgeous
neigbour’s dogs, picking up cleaning and groceries, paying the bills under his wife’s strict instructions, and
being taken for granted by his daughter and her lazy, unemployed boyfriend, who seems to have moved
in. His ancient mother, the aristocratically coiffed Valeria, a relic from a more glamorous era, lives with her
pretty careworker Cristina in a huge villa. From her crumbling HQ, Valeria is swiftly draining Gianni’s
resources on poker, repairs and expensive champagne, and thinks nothing of making him cross town to fix
the reception on her television.
One morning, his good friend Alfonso tells an astonished Gianni about his most recent sexual escapades.
Somehow Gianni has completely failed to notice that his contemporaries are all taking a second bite of the
cherry! Even old Maurizio who always wears a tracksuit has a younger lover.
Alfonso decides Gianni should take action, reinvigorate his life and get himself a girlfriend. But, despite
his best efforts with some old female acquaintances interrupted by an endless stream of calls from his
demanding mother and a dose of Viagra, poor old Gianni is like a rusty old motor. The spark is ignited but
it is going to take a long time to get back him on the road to romance!

IL MARCHESE DEL GRILLO
THE MARQUIS OF GRILLO
A film by Mario Monicelli
The real Marquis of Grillo lived in the early 18th century, but, for this take-off on the marquis’ life, director
Mario Monicelli, has changed the time period to the early 19th century when a lot more was going on in Rome.
The marquis (Alberto Sordi) amuses himself by throwing red-hot coins to beggars, occasionally walling up
the store entrance of an offending merchant and installing a urinal there instead, and generally making
witty and broad comments on the life going on around him.
His existence suddenly gets a lot more interesting when he discovers his physical (unrelated) twin in a
Roman tavern (also Alberto Sordi) a drunkard who works transporting coal when he is sober.
As a joke, the marquis takes the passed-out drunk to his mansion and puts him in his bed, fully intent on
convincing the drunk and everyone else that this man is the real marquis.

LE QUATTRO VOLTE
A film by Michelangelo Frammartino
An old shepherd lives his last days in a quiet medieval village perched high on the hills of Calabria, at the
southernmost tip of Italy. He herds goats under skies that most villagers have deserted long ago. He is sick,
and believes to find his medicine in the dust he collects on the church floor, which he drinks in his water
every day.
A new goat kid is born. We follow its first few tentative steps, its first games, until it gains strength and
goes to pasture. Nearby, a majestic fir tree stirs in the mountain breeze and slowly changes through the
seasons.
The tree now lies on the ground. It has been reduced to its own skeleton, and is transformed into wood
coal through the ancestral work of the local coal makers. Our sight gets lost in the ashes’ smoke.
Le Quattro Volte is a poetic vision of the revolving cycles of life and nature and the unbroken traditions of
a timeless place. The story of one soul that moves through four successive lives.

A film by Fabio Mollo
Grazia lives in a small town on the Strait of Messina with her father Cristiano who sells dried fish. She was
12 when her older brother Pietro emigrated to Germany and never came back. One day Cristiano said that
Pietro was dead and he never wanted to talk about it again.
Today Grazia is 17 and her body has grown in a very masculine shape: wide shoulders, no breast, short
hair. She often gets treated like a boy, not only by her schoolmates but also by her own father who sees
in her a replacement for Pietro, both in his fish shop and his life.
One night, after fighting with Cristiano, Grazia enters into the dark sea and sees Pietro emerging from the
abyss and running from the waves to the town. Starting from that night she begins to believe that Pietro
never died and that he is hiding somewhere in the city, waiting to be found.
As Grazia decides to search for him, she breaks the rule of silence to which Cristiano has always obeyed and
finally discovers the truth not only about her brother, but also about herself and her own identity.

ITALIAN FILM
COMMISSIONS
If you think in pictures, Italy is the ideal place to put your cinema, television or advertising plans into action. You
can rely on the 20 Film Commissions that make up the Italian Film Commission Association Network (IFC).
Spread nationwide, from North to South, Italian Film Commissions are key intermediaries who can provide
practical, comprehensive services on demand and valuable support to any kind of production.
With Italian Film Commissions, you can make the most of the extraordinary variety of the Italian territory, from
unique natural landscapes to historical and architectural treasures – the envy of the rest of the world. But above
all, the IFC Network guarantees quality and the top professional skills to be found in each and every Film
Commission, which can provide every area of audiovisual production with a range of services, from logistic
assistance to filming permits, from location scouting to raising financial resources locally.
Data presented at the first Film Commission Day, held in Rome in June 2009, showed the growing role of Film
Commissions as key players in the Italian audiovisual industry. These figures proved that a growing number of
national and international production companies are choosing to shoot on location all across Italy and are
benefiting from the Italian Film Commissions’ commitment to creating a film friendly environment, reducing
production costs and providing grants through local film funds. In the three years from 2006 to 2008, film funds
in the areas represented by the 17 members of the Italian Film Commission Association totalled Euro13.500.000,
an amount which is destined to grow in the coming years as more and more local authorities invest in Film
Commissions and their financial endowments.
Italian Film Commissions are tailor-made to fit your project – there is no denying that the “made in Italy” label
can make any audiovisual project unique, with creativity and expertise.

FILM COMMISSION
REGIONE
CAMPANIA
Film Commission Regione Campania was established in September 2004 by the Campania Regional
Government, and has been operative since April 2005.
The aim of FCRC is to promote the regional area of Campania as a film-friendly environment for the production of film, television drama and all kinds of audiovisual products, capitalising on the outstanding
range of locations and the high professional standards of the business and creative communities already
present in Campania. With the establishment of Film Commission Regione Campania and the creation of
an audiovisual co-production fund, the Campania Regional Government gave a boost to the number and
quality of film and television productions shot in Campania, including shorts, documentaries and animation films. From 2004 until the end of 2009, funds invested in grants from the Regional Government and
other local authorities in Campania reached a total amount of around 6 million euro. In addition to this,
FCRC guarantees cost reductions and time-efficiency thanks to the support of a network of local government bodies and trade associations.
Promoting the local professional community and making Campania part of an international network of
shared professional contacts, knowledge, resources and experiences is one of the FCRC’s strategic aims.
Hence the development of seminars, conferences, workshops and events in collaboration with organisations
such as Doc/it, FERT – Antenna Media and Sources 2. FCRC is a member of the Italian Film Commission
Association (IFC) and of the European Film Commission Network (EUFCN).

ITALIAN RIVIERA –
ALPI DEL MARE
FILM COMMISSION
The Italian Riviera-Alpi del Mare Film Commission, founded in 1998 by Alessandra Bergero, was one of the first
film commissions in Italy and operates in the western part of Liguria and low Piedmont. Our services of local assistance for permissions, preliminary location scouting, content library, infos, hotel logistics and professionals
data bank are supplied free of charge thank to the support of the “Agostino De Mari Foundation, Bank Carisa”
and of the Savona’s Province Tourism Department. The wide selection of locations in a narrow territory, the multiple choice of “look alike” venues, the mediterranean sunshine and climate, the numberless tourist accommodations able to offer facilitations for most of the whole year, the closeness to main cities and airports, are the
main features which attracted productions such as “The Bourne Identity” (Universal Pictures) and “Inkheart”(New
Line Cinema).
Our approach is creative and diversified according to the project on duty: we suggest, inform and coordinate
every connection with institutions, authorities and local category associations in order to obtain facilitations (i.e.
hotels and restaurants) and financial subventions (only if the content is directly related to the area).
On our website, beside locations and services, we recently published a list of topics related to our area, and we
are able, upon producer’s request, to provide all the research material and specific local consultants.
Our aim is to bring productions in our area, such as movies, documentaries or Tv Programmes, able of enhancing our locations, but also the local culture, history and typical products. We mean to offer a free of charge ‘allinclusive-package’ aimed to save money and to speed up production, without loosing quality.
We are very quick and always available to help you for logistics and as liaison with local Public Institutions for
permissions. On our website you will be able to find further infos and references.
