Chapter U`s Valentine`s Day Dinner Gennaro`s Trattoria Restaurant
Chapter U’s
Valentine’s Day Dinner
Gennaro’s Trattoria Restaurant
Canyon Lake, Texas
13 February 2016
A Valentine Delight
On an unseasonably warm February 13th, 18 Chapter U members met at Kent Power
Sports at 10:00 and rode to Gennaro’s Trattoria Restaurant near Canyon Lake for a
Valentine’s luncheon. Those attending were, Ken and Connie Jordan, Pete Ryson,
Larry Hammond, Sam and Sheila Morris, Sal and Phylis Pesta, Scott and Debbie
Hay, Pat and Rick Kendrick, Steve and Donna Van Gilder, Brad and Jill Severe, and
Bob and Janet Peden. Bob and Janet had not ridden with us for a while, so it was
great to see them again.
Good to see the Peden’s again
Court and Diane van Sickler met the group at the restaurant to bring the total number
in attendance to 20. Steve and Donna drove in their truck because during Steve’s
usual pre-ride walk around our trike, earlier in the morning, in his garage, he discovered
our front tire was bad, so it was left for repair at Kent Power Sports.
A quick safety briefing
Waiting to wander
While waiting for the restaurant to open at 11:00, Scott Hay found time to get the group
together for a photo. As it ended up, a nice lady also waiting, asked if she might help
out and she took the pictures. We immediately began recruiting her and her husband to
become Goldwing Riders! The couple were from out of state, but said when they retire
and come back next year, they just might join us. Court van Sickler gave them a
Chapter U business card and it will be interesting to see if we get a call from them next
year!
Sal Pesta, from Italian stock, says good chow!
The food at Gennaro’s was GREAT, especially the desserts. We heard the sangria was
also good (from a co-rider, of course). When the group left the restaurant, several bikes
rode to Sattler and wound their way along River Road toward New Braunfels. There
wasn't much traffic, no tubers or swimmers--only a few fishermen along the way. Some
riders cut off in the New Braunfels area while the rest headed around Loop 337 to FM
1044 and across to FM 78. At this point, some riders headed toward Seguin and the
rest rode to the Schertz area where everyone took their own route home. A very nice
day, ride, food and fellowship!
