■ 2006 Annual
Meeting — What for?
Every year we have done differently. Kind and generous members often invite our church families to their house for dinner
and fellowship. That is great for God’s people constantly show
Christ’s love toward one another. During the apostolic time,
they broke bread and shared and rejoiced together from house
to house. We are a community of faith and of love. But this
year, right on the border of 2006 and 2007 that was December
31, all of us decided to set aside one day for family retreat. The
day is made simple: Bring your favorite dishes (2 items per
family), and 2nd set of clothes. The day began with well
dressed for family portrait taken by Sophoan Sorn the artist,
then change for casual clothes, having lunch, family games and
2 last hours was set aside for “Strategic Planning”. We all had
good time. It is the time of reflection and time for resolution
— the time for thanksgiving God and of praising Him — and
the time to seek His omnipresence. (….continued on page 4)

SOME HIGHLIGHTS IN 2006
■ AWR Technical Training
at
Ontario, SO-CAL
The North American Based
Southeast Asian Broadcaster
Seminar & Workshop was held at
Ontario Southern California from March
6-9, 2006 organized by our AWR Regional Director Pastor Akinori Kaibe.
Thanks ASAP for supporting us financially
in this training. It is a must training that
enhanced our production skills to improve
the quality and increase the production. It
was good to meet other brothers who are
committed to share the Good News in spoken word via the AWR.
Thank you all so much! May God bless you all!
■ BAPTISM
Last August 12, 2006, after completed the 28
doctrinal belief lessons 3 souls were baptized into
God’s family. Khoeun Kheav along with his wife
Sophos Ty and Srapaul Son who rejoice in the Lord
through the true experience of baptism at Stockton
Central of Seventh-day Adventist Church. Seen in
the picture on the right, Pastor Norm Kinney offered
a benediction prayer for the newly-baptized members, joined on the left by Elder Phil Dickinson.
■ Lay Training Seminary
Stockton Cambodian has 4 who have committed to Seminary Training for a period of 12 months, starting from January 2006. Lorchi Lao, Steven Lom, Jimmy Keo Mai and Sakary Sorn. We thank God that
Dr. Viclouie Arreola starts this project at Sacramento Japanese-American SDA which is now the All
Nations SDA Church to fulfill the Northern California Conference’s initiative which says: “Every member a minister and every pastor an equipper”. God provides this in the right time we need. These seminarians will be graduated this October 2007. Specific time and place will be announced.
■ Home Bible Study & Baptismal Class
Home Bible Study is one of our ongoing activities in our group. We meet every Friday night to pray at
sunset to begin the Lord’s Sabbath. Then, we study His words and pray together. This has been a tradition for our group. During summer, we sometime gather at some nearby park for this purpose. The
Lord bless us as we do this. Members are close together and we are close to God our Creator. Besides,
we have baptismal class for new students when God chose them we set up Bible class with them right
away. We start another class this April, scheduled for baptism sometime in July or August 2007.

■ Christmas Program at Park Village
I wish I could find some photos of the Christmas Program at Park Village. Community leaders
of Park Village, known as Oak Park — the house of 220 Cambodian families, invited us to celebrate Christmas in their community. That place is where I work for 7 years. Two other Christian denominations asked to join too. We brought gift for elderly folks and had lunch fellowship
together till 3 P.M. There were well over 300 people attended our presentation of the Story of
Jesus, the coming Messiah known to Cambodian as Preah Se Ar Metrei. They enjoyed the celebration and will invite us to come back next year.
■ RADIO MINISTRY ONLINE Our website: www.voiceoflove.us
We are in the Digital Age. Thanks to the technology, we can better our communication with
low cost. Taking advantage of that, our radio program finds it useful to build a website so we
can post our radio program online. People from around the globe, when they know our website
address or when they search and found it, they can listen to our radio on-line anytime from
anywhere that have internet access. We thank ASAP again for supporting this project. We
have our website up and running since mid February 2007. We got some positive response
from our listeners. We hope we can use this in the future to expand on our networking capability and to get listeners’ response and reply to them more quickly. Please check on page 5 for
report from our online listeners.

Thank You
FOR YOUR WONDERFUL HELP!
My in-laws in France
The Lord bless them with many
talents. For us their most important
talent is the gift of music to serve the
Lord. The Voice of Love wants to take
this opportunity to thank both of them
Mr. Nuon Sarun Michelle and Mrs.
Moeng Mom Christine for their kindest
contribution of Music and Praising
Hymns in traditional tune to support
our studio from the start. Both of them
received Christ as their personal Savior
since Khao I Dang Holding Center in
1985. They came to Stockton USA to
attend my first born daughter’s wedding last year (February 2006). They
live in France with 4 children. Thanks again for your continued support of our radio ministry as we are
moving forward with blessing. May God continue to richly bless you and family.

Dear Teacher:

you a good new there is a man who often went to South Vietnam, Cambodia Khrom, he has distributed
many his personal radios to the people there. At the beginning of April we had staff retreat in Sihanouk
ville he had joint with us too, so I showed him about our radio program schedule, and he had listened
with me at one night when the schedule broadcasting, he said he would show to the people who live in
southern part of Vietnam to listen to our program, that man is our church member. He wants the people
to hear about the love of Jesus. You can call me in the morning before 7 a.m. or you can call me around
9:30-10:00 p.m. My telephone number is 012 272 920 Hope to see you soon. Please send my greeting

■ Cambodian Ministry 2007 — First Quarter Update
Our Mission Trip to Cambodia ...
We have two main things in our heart and our prayer as we go to Cambodia this coming
June. And none of these we can do by ourselves.
Radio ministry: We have received exciting news from Pastor in Cambodia about our
radio program that church planters in 24 provinces use the radio broadcast to assist new
members and outreach for small group evangelism. We are hoping to learn more in the
field what the needs of our listeners and what specific message needs to be addressed.
Our mission trip of 10 days will focus on:
(1) Prayer with the Mission President, AWR Regional Director, ASAP Director, staff and
pastors to seek God’s divine guidance to improve radio ministry.
(2) Meeting with the church planters and listeners to hear from them testimonies
Success and needs.
(3) To train some to do professional recording and if feasible to simplify the network
To upload and download via the internet.
(4) Recording special music with traditional music masters for our studio.
Sabbath School Quarterly:
I want to find out from the mission concerning Sabbath School quarterly. I am hoping to
establish a translation team to sustain this project for long term by collaborating with
Mission College graduates in Cambodia Mission and local pastors in the Bible and Sabbath School Department. We are praying that Cambodian Adult Sabbath school lessons
will be in the hands of every Cambodian Advenstist here and back home. It is the daily
bread for their spiritual growth. With that in mind, I am willing to oversea the whole
work from translation to the printout. We need at least 2 computer literate translators in
Cambodia who translate the lesson from English to Cambodian then upload their translated work and I do the editing and layout ready for the printing house. This is a pilot
project. We need a lot of prayers and supports both spiritually and financially.
Please join us and pray for this mission trip to the land of Angkor.
“ I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me”
— Philippians 4:13
Future Plan for possible mission to Cambodia in 2008:
May be it’s too far to think about it but time flies so quickly. Suggested date:
Early Summer before June 7 (airfare still in good price). Medical mission: The Gift of
Sight and the Gift of Smile. Please join us and pray for this mission trip for now and
2008.
For more information, please contact Pastor Sophat Sorn at (209) 483-2368.

Community Involvement …….
Pastor Sophat Sorn has been with community for most of his life. Of the 16 years in Stockton, he
has served community for 7 years as social worker. During that time he founded a non profit organization called UCF “ United Cambodian Families” in the wake of a crisis when a community at
Tyrol Village (Over 70 families — of which 20 families are Laotians) were evicted due to code enforcement on the property. It was an outcry when people became helpless
and hopeless. Through his joint effort and service, all 70 families were relocated successfully. People look up to him as a leader who will speak for them
when they need someone they can trust and who will represent them with
the mainstream society. Because of his involvements, he was awarded Blue
Cross of California 2005 Crystal Award. Currently, he still involves
with community in few areas as:
* Board of member with the Stockton Sister Cities Association
* Advisory Board of Restore the Delta (www.restorethedelta.org)
* Chair of ELAC (English Language Advisory Committee) and
* School Site Council committee for Pulliam Elementary School
etc...
He rejoices always to be called Pastor Sophat, and he’s humbly proud to be known as a Seventh-day
Adventist Pastor even he has been some times alone in the midst of other Catholic and Protestant
clergymen. He never feels lonely for Christ is with him. Jesus’ voice to Simon Peter still speaks to
him: “Feed my lambs” if we really love Jesus —John 21:15 Here in the United States, they might
not need bread but they do need help and most of all Hope in Salvation where they cannot find anywhere else but in Christ. (Acts 4:12)

Your mouth.

THE VOICE OF LOVE : THE MIDNIGHT CRY!
6 And I saw another angel fly in the midst of
heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach
unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every
nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people
7 saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give
glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is
come: and worship him that made heaven, and
earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.
— Revelation 14:6-7 (KJV)
And I heard another voice from heaven, saying,
Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her
plagues. — Revelation 18:4 (KJV)
