summary of the tour – theme
The Green Walk is a 63 km loop trip, linking natural and semi-natural green spaces of the outer-ring
suburbs of the Brussels Capital-Region.
The Green Walk is an integral part of the regional Maillage Vert (green network), which aims at encouraging pedestrians and cyclists to use a mode of transportation, improving the landscaping qualities of
the city, preserving the natural heritage and increasing biodiversity of fauna and flora.

The Promenade of Woluwe valley and Zoniënwoud / Forêt de Soignes departs from Tours & Taxis and follows the Kleine Ring / Petite Ceinture to Wetstraat / Rue de la Loi. We take it to reach Jubelpark / Parc du
Cinquantenaire. Afterwards, we follow Jubellaan / Avenue du Cinquantenaire to Woluwe park
where we meet up with Green Walk at the Tervu(e)ren footbridge. We follow Green Walk signpost alongside the railway path. We pass by the small park of Bergoje, by the Appelbloesemgaarde /
Clos des Pommiers Fleuris fenced field, and across Seny and Ten Reuken parks to reach Zoniënwoud /
Forêt de Soignes. We exit this one at one time near the Boitsfort swamp and then we return to Lorrainedreef /
Drève de Lorraine. This is when we exit Green Walk signpost and return to Tour & Taxis through Ter
Kamerenbos / Bois de la Cambre, Louizalaan / Avenue Louise and the Kleine Ring / Petite Ceinture.
route description
1.
Depart from Tours & Taxis via Havenlaan / Avenue du Port. Saincteletteplein / Place Sainctelette, follow the Kleine
Ring / Petite Ceinture (Antwerpselaan / Boulevard d’Anvers, Kruidtuinlaan / Boulevard du Jardin Botanique).
2.
Take Koningsstraat / Rue Royale and Verenigingsstraat / Rue de l’Association, go across Vrijheidsplein / Place de
la Liberté and continue on Drukpersstraat / Rue de la Presse. Take Wetstraat / Rue de la Loi up to the Schuman
roundabout then Oudergemselaan / Avenue d’Auderghem to go around Jubelpark / Parc du Cinquantenaire. Take
Tervurenlaan / Avenue de Tervueren, go around the Montgomery roundabout and continue on Tervurenlaan / Avenue de Terveuren. Go across this at Leopold II Square / Square Léopold II. Continue to the Green Walk signpost
at the Tervu(e)ren footbridge.

Reach Green Walk on the Railway promenade at the Tervu(e)ren bridge.

Exit the railway path at Govaertplein / Place Govaert and go down toward the Souverain roundabout. Take Zandgroeflaan / Rue de la Sablière, Idiersstraat / Rue Idiers, Waversesteenweg / Chaussée de Wavre and Bassemstraat /
Rue Bassem to Herrmann-Debrouxlaan / Avenue Herrmann-Debroux going by Bergoje park.
The small Bergoje park is a pleasant transition between old Oudergem / Auderghem and the Rouge-Cloître site.

Cross Herrmann-Debrouxlaan / Avenue Herrmann-Debroux under the viaduct and across Appelbloesemgaarde /
Clos des Pommiers fleuris alongside Woluwe.

Cross Seny park / parc Seny.
The Seny park / parc Seny was built at the end of the 1950’s with rigid aesthetics formed by consistent contours.

Cross Ten Reuken Park / Parc Ten Reuken. At the exit of the park, take Ten Reukenlaan / Avenue Ten Reuken to
Pinnebeekdreef / Drève de Pinnebeek.
The Ten Reuken Park / Parc Ten Reuken was created in the beginning of the 20th century in the framework of
opening Vorstlaan / Boulevard du Souverain.

Go back into Zoniënwoud / Forêt de Soignes and follow Pinnebeekdreef / Drève de Pinnebeek to Willerieken­
dreef / Drève de Bonne Odeur. Go down Buksboomstraat / Rue du Buis and reach the Boitsfort pond via Terhulpse­
steenweg / Chaussée de la Hulpe.

At Boitsfort pond, follow Silex path then Twee Bergenlaan / Avenue des Deux montagnes along TournaySolvay park, go under the railway lines and continue across Zoniënwoud / Forêt de Soignes until you arrive at
Lorrainedreef / drève de Lorraine.
The Tournay-Solvay park, located on the border of the Zoniënwoud / Forêt de Soignes, is one of the heritage jewels
of Brussels. It is a rustic park, emphasizing on the down slopes of the relief, with a discrete setup of buildings and
the maintenance of natural space.
The Zoniënwoud / Forêt de Soignes is by far the most important natural space of the Brussels region. Although it is
mainly known for its beech grove cathedral, it is also a forest loaded with history and an exceptional eco-system.

Lorrainedreef / Drève de Lorraine, exit Green Walk signpost going towards Ter Kamerenbos / Bois de la Cambre. Go
across via Boitsfortlaan / Avenue de Boitsfort, Denneboslaan / Avenue de la Sapinière and Floralaan / Avenue de Flore.

Follow Louizalaan / Avenue Louise until you arrive at Louizapoort / Porte Louise.
12.
Follow the Kleine Ring / Petite Ceinture up to Saincteletteplein / Place Sainctelette and take Havenlaan / Avenue du
Port to return to Tour & Taxis.
