How Does Radio Work?
A: Horizontal Advertising
Image Building or Top Of Mind Awareness (TOMA) - “LONG
TERM” – LOW RISK
ROE3 represents a long-term, all-inclusive measure of your expectations, total
brand experience and level of engagement. This type of marketing will deliver
a far greater return in satisfaction plus continuance and repeat dollars at a
higher state of profitability. ROE3 completes the whole idea of successful
marketing which is: Attracting, Converting, Optimizing and Keeping Clients
at the highest state of profitability.
ROE3 (return on expectation x engagement x experience
IMMEDIATE
RESPONSE
Immediate response
advertising is what
most people want to
purchase. “I want
results right now!”
These three (3)
ingredients MUST
be present in the
short term
advertising recipe
for success:
• HIGH FREQUENCY
(“Lots of spots”)
• A LEGITIMATE
OFFER (Not 10% off,
Not free Bic lighter with
every deposit over
$10,000)
• SENSE OF URGENCY
(only offer it for a short
period of time)
B: Vertical Advertising
Immediate Response – “SHORT TERM” – HIGH RISK
We believe that the return on investment (ROI) is a short-term measure of
specific, individual campaigns (Vertical Advertising). So we can provide a 150%
return on each dollar you spend with us. We can use these three things to
determine an accurate ROI:
Average Unit Sell per client: $______
Closing ratio:
____%
Gross profit margin:
____%

Invitation Vs. Permission:
Invitation
1
According to a study entitled URBAN RADIO:
The Invitation Medium:
• Urban Radio is the most effective medium to
The Personal Touch
reach Black Consumers
• Knows and talks with its consumer/listeners every
day
• Speaks for the Black Consumer
• Is used by more Black Consumers than any other
media
• Provides a strong link to the community (WEUP
is Community Connected since 1958)
Permission
2
• Using other media give our listeners
Permission to do business with them…NOT an
invitation
• Based on grabbing the attention of
people away from what they’re doing – TV
commercials, newspaper ads, telemarketing
phone calls.
• Is Interruption Marketing
• Less efficient when people are getting
continuously interrupted.
• Does not offer their potential customers
incentives to accept advertising voluntarily.

Sponsorship Opportunities
Every year, WEUP will host exciting community events. It is one thing to
advertise so your business becomes top-of-mind – it is quite another to
show up at a community service event, intermingling in celebration or
helping those in need. These annual sponsorship opportunities through
WEUP, gives local businesses a chance to be “Community Connected”
leaving a lasting and positive impression on consumers.
In August, WEUP’s Back to
School Festival–helps students
in the Huntsville Metropolitan
area and Pulaski, Tennessee,
get ready for school by giving
away book bags, stuffed with
school supplies. Free food,
beverages and live
performances by national,
regional and local recording
artist.
In the Fall, it’s Alabama
A&M University Tailgating –
WEUP tailgates on the grounds
of the Louis Crews Stadium
every year. We are located in a
highly visible location, bustling
with bulldog fans and guest.
Businesses partners join WEUP
at each home game, including
Homecoming. There is plenty
of Free BBQ, soft drinks and
giveaways in support of the
Bulldogs.

Sponsorship Opportunities
In October, WEUP turns
Pink! Pink October is a
time in which WEUP and
it’s partners join the fight
against Breast Cancer; and
celebrate its survivors.
October is National Breast
Cancer Awareness Month.
In December, WEUP’s 12
Days of Christmas is a
time of giving. WEUP gives
away prizes for 12
consecutive days and
business sponsors can get
in on the giving. At the end,
on the twelfth day of
Christmas, one fortunate
winner will receive one
exclusive gift. The closer
we get to the 12th day, the
bigger the prizes become.
