There are many temples in Wanhua district. Some of the temples
were built more than two hundred years ago. Longshan Temple
is the most famous one. It attracts many followers, and acts
as the local religious center. Nearby Xiyuan Rd., a famous
“Buddhist utensils street” supplies all kinds of utensils used for
god worshipping. The “Herbal alley” in Xichang St. is renowned
for its various kinds of health herbs, attracting people seeking
to promote their health. Also in the area is Taiwan’s first
international night market, Huaxi St. Night Market, noted for its
delicious snacks.

Ximending commercial district is an entertainment hub
for youths. From a pedestrian only area, cinemas street,
and tattoo street to music stores and department stores,
it offers a venue for youths to express themselves, a
great place for shopping or dating. The 100-year-old
Red House by the MRT Ximen Station used to be the
first publicly-operated market in Taiwan and is now a
platform for the cultural and creative industry, with a
market nearby selling creative merchandise.

Yangmingshan is Taipei’s well-known backyard. As spring
approaches, cherry blossoms, peach blossoms and azaleas
bloom resplendently all over the mountains, making the Flower
Festival a great annual tourism event. As Zhuzihu’s calla lilies blossom, visitors wend their way amongst the flowers. The
post-volcanic geography has also created other magnificent
scenes, such as hot springs, sulfur vents, cold water pits, etc.
