INTRODUCING SANUM-KEHLBECK
Sanum-Kehlbeck GmbH & Co. KG is a well-established homeopathic pharmaceutical
company based in northern Germany. It manufactures unique, high quality potentised
microbial remedies as well as herbal, nutritional and pH-balancing products. The name
Sanum is derived from the Latin word ‘sanus’ meaning ‘healthy’. Sanum-Kehlbeck is
committed to an ecological approach to health by aiding regulation of the microflora
permeating the body.
Sanum-Kehlbeck is dedicated to research and development, working closely with German
and international universities, scientific research institutes, clinics and health practitioners.
In addition to the original Enderlein isopathic remedies, Sanum has developed further
innovative fungal and bacterial remedies, such as the range of Sanukehls. These contain
potentised ‘haptens’ based on cell wall polysaccharide extracts to assist the immune system.
Sanum-Kehlbeck is family-run with associated companies including Biofrid Cosmetic GmbH
& Co. KG which manufactures nutritional supplements, natural skincare creams and
essential oils. Also Mastavit Produktions und Vertriebs GmbH which produces veterinary
fungal isopathic and other potentised remedies, animal care and ecological products.
At a time when microbial imbalances and chronic diseases are escalating, the Sanum
remedies have a significant role to play for the well-being of humans and animals.
Over 30,000 medical, dental, veterinary and natural health practitioners in Germany
practise Sanum therapy. And there are now more than 30 Sanum distributors working
within this tradition of biological medicine worldwide.
Introducing Prof. Dr. Günther Enderlein
Much of Sanum-Kehlbeck’s work is based on the pioneering and extensive research of
the German microbiologist Prof. Dr. Günther Enderlein (1872–1968) whose main book
Bacteria Cyclogeny was published in 1925. Enderlein was a visionary thinker who made
profound discoveries about the nature of chronic disease during his 60 year career. He
wrote over 500 scientific papers, was a journal editor, lectured internationally and founded
the IBICA Institute for microbiological research into health.
Enderlein’s major contribution was the concept of pleomorphism, the idea that microbes
assume numerous forms within a developmental cycle he termed cyclogeny. The phases of
cyclogeny start from virus-sized particles, progressing to bacteria and then culminating as
fungi. These microbial forms exist throughout the body and are symbiotic or pathogenic
according to the conditions of the inner environment. By contrast, modern medicine is
based on the monomorphistic view that microbes exist primarily in one form and mainly
attack the body from the outside.

Enderlein observed human microflora by using live blood under a darkfield microscope
which enabled him to identify various types of degeneration. He also discovered a natural
bioregulatory process by which the inner microbial ecosystem maintains a healthy balance.
He identified the regulators as ‘symbionts’ that restore ‘symbiotic equilibrium’, which for
him represented an ideal state of health. From this insight, Enderlein developed his unique
isopathic remedies derived from fungal cultures.
Of particular significance for health are the life cycles of Mucor racemosus and Aspergillus
niger, which he discovered to be fundamental to the microflora of all humans and mammals,
along with Candida and species of Penicillium. In any such microbial life cycle, virulent
forms can be returned to harmless avirulent forms with the corresponding fungal isopathic
remedy. Sanum therapy also uses various potentised bacterial remedies, nutritional and
herbal preparations to rebalance the ‘soil’ out of which diseases emerge. Most essential are
the pH products needed to ‘alkalise’ the body. Many conditions are caused by over-acidity
as this provides the milieu in which destructive microbes develop.
Enderlein described disease primarily as a manifestation of the ‘endobiosis’ (the Mucor
cycle), to which he saw similarities to the psora miasm as defined by Hahnemann. He
also described the ‘paratuberculosis’ (the Aspergillus cycle) as another significant miasm
underlying many chronic conditions. Most of the Sanum remedies work at this deep
miasmatic level to increase overall constitutional health and vitality.
The history of the Sanum remedies
Enderlein became the production manager for the company Sanum. It was formed in
1932 by an employee of the Robert Koch Institute to manufacture bacterial remedies
for immunobiological health. Enderlein’s close confidant for many decades, Mr. Heinrich
Kehlbeck, bought Sanum with all its rights and trademarks in 1975. He merged it
with the IBICA Institute to create Sanum-Kehlbeck GmbH & Co. KG. Enderlein gave the
Kehlbeck family exclusive custodianship of all his original microbial cultures, his specialized
production knowledge, and sole rights to use his work. Sanum-Kehlbeck still retains the
official registrations for these original products. All of Sanum's products are produced at
their excellent manufacturing facilty to GMP standards and they comply with EU legislation.
Another range of products of historical significance is the Polysans, containing potentised
colloids manufactured from the original mother tinctures of Dr. med. Carl Spengler (1860
- 1937), a noted Swiss researcher of tuberculosis and syphilis. The Polysan test helps to
reveal insidious latent infections that need to be eliminated to enable deep regeneration.

NOTES ON SANUM REMEDIES
As with all systems of nature cure, the Sanum remedies can provoke a healing reaction before
improvement. To minimise any such aggravation please ensure that your patients are aware of the
importance of the eliminatory pathways of the body: the bowels, skin, lymph, kidneys, and lungs.
These excretory organs should be functioning as well as possible. In many cases, the Sanum remedies
are supported by homœopathic or herbal drainage remedies. Detoxification can be assisted with a
naturopathically oriented diet, plenty of pure water, appropriate exercise, colon cleansing, fresh air,
sweating and massage.
As a general rule, the more chronic the condition the less a remedy must be administered in terms
of quantity, frequency and potency. Starting with a lower dose and working upwards, building up the
intake gently, is a good way to ensure that the patient can fully integrate all the possible changes.
Be aware that the action of the Sanum remedies can be undermined by anti-microbial medications
and strong substances. Also avoid using Sanum remedies at the same time as immunosuppressive
medications or treatments and leave an interval of four weeks before or after vaccinations.

The Polysan Test is a simple way to assess constitutional health. Developed by Carl Spengler in
Switzerland, the Polysans contain colloids that are derived from serum which has been inoculated with
certain pathogenic germs or toxins.
A drop of blood can reveal various latent infections from the individuals life or that have been inherited
from previous generations. When antibodies are present in human blood due to former disease,
they react with the respective Spengler colloid as an antigen-antibody reaction to diagnose masked
infections.
On a clean surface such as a glass slide or plastic sheet, mix one drop of blood with one drop of a
Polysan and stir with a cocktail stick (a new one for each drop). Wait for 5 minutes and coagulations
of the red blood cells will become visible. The intensity of this agglutination reaction indicates the level
of antibody titer present in the body and therefore gives a guideline for treatment accordingly.
