POMPEII HALF DAY
Visit the famous ruins of Pompeii. Pompeii holds an intense fascination for visitors today. Our guide will take you
slowly through some of the ancient streets of Pompei where you can see Baths, Forums and Villas built by the
prosperous Romans in the year 80 B.C. Marvel at the fabulously preserved Frescos which adorned the walls and
floors of the Villas. Even if your interests do not lie in history, this is an archaeological site that cannot fail to
impress you.

HERCULANEUM HALF DAY
Visit Herculaneum - a town destroyed along with Pompeii in 79 A.D. , and was rediscovered in 1709. It was a residential
town without Pompeii's commercial importance, surrounded by the villas of wealthy Romans. When the catastrophe
of 79 A.D. occurred Herculaneum was submerged under a torrent of mud and lava that hardened into a soft tufa (a
kind of course rock) that preserved many of the wooden parts of houses and household objects which can be seen
today. The tour round the site lasts about 2 hours.

SALERNO & PAESTUM
About an hour drive south of Naples is another important Italian Provincial capital Salerno. In medieval times Salerno
was the world capital of medicine, the Monastery of the Benedictine monks who probably founded its medical
school, offered the best education then available. In more modern times Salerno is best remembered for the Allied
troops landing on its beaches, during the Second World War. Our next stop will be Paestum, which is one of the
most important archaeological sites in the country. Here you will see some of the best-preserved Greek ruins, architecture and monuments, such as the Temple of Poseidon (Neptune) the Basilica dating from the 6th Century.
Temple of Poseidon - Paestum
Ischia with its magnificent flora, is known as the Green Island. This volcanic island is dominated by Mount Epomeo.
After about 50 minutes of jetfoil you reach the port of Ischia and continue by bus up to the "Belvedere" where
you can admire the magnificent panorama of the "Bay of Citara” (possibility also of tasting local produce). Continuing in Sant’ Angelo you will have free time and the possibility of remaining on the beach. During the stop at
Sant'Angelo you can decide whether to bathe in hot springs or visit the famous garden, the Mortella, situated in
the san Francesco district, run by Susanna Walton. There are more than 800 varieties of tropical and Mediterranean
plants in the garden, and there are also fountains and pools with aquatic plants.

The Tasso Theatre will stage a Musical, lasting 75 minutes, which reconstructs our cultural roots through song

Abbey of Montecassino

During the morning we will visit the stunning Abbey situated at the top of a hill, it commands spectacular views over
the city of Cassino. The Abbey was founded in 529 B.C. and was looked upon as a place of holiness, culture and art
for which it became renowned on a world-wide level. Because of its strategic position, during the World War Two,
it was occupied by the German forces and used as a vantage point to attack the allied forces advancing from the
South of Italy. Upon leaving the Abbey we head down to visit the Commonwealth War Cemetery. Many of the soldiers
who fell during the battle are buried here. This cemetery is beautifully maintained and overlooked by the Abbey.

DAY 1: Arrival in Florence
Arrival at Florence’s Amerigo Vespucci airport. A private car will escort you to your

DAY 5: San Gimignano
Day tour to visit San Gimignano, the city of the beautiful towers which has conserved
