VISION STATEMENT
WE, the parish of Our Lady of Victory, proclaim with joy the presence of Jesus in the world through Word,
Sacrament, and deed. It is through our discipleship that we recognize our connection to God, our neighbor,
and our deepest spiritual selves.
WE, seek to live out the Gospel of Jesus Christ by:
+ Welcoming all with kindness, compassion and hospitality. + Nourishing the faith life of the community
through prayer, fellowship and education. + Reverencing the dignity of each person by celebrating the
beauty of life from conception to natural death. + Nurturing the gifts of all so that each person may live out
his or her unique and personal call from God. + Caring for the needs of the less fortunate by empowering
our parish community to answer that call. WE, do this in the name of Jesus Christ and the mandate:
“See those Christians how they love one another!”

Dear Parishioners,
Happy Thanksgiving!
We know well to whom we give Thanks this
Thanksgiving Day - to the Almighty God - the
creator of heaven and earth and the source of all
good things! Let me suggest some ways to direct our Thanks to God this Thanksgiving:
• by saying grace before Thanksgiving dinner
(especially if you don’t usually do so) It can
be as simple as:
“Bless us O Lord, and these thy gifts,
which we are about to receive from thy bounty,
Through Christ our Lord. Amen.”
May the Lord provide for the wants of the poor
and may the souls of the faithful departed,
through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
• By assisting our food pantry by leaving
your food donation in the food pantry box
in the vestibule of the church. Donations are
needed throughout the year.
• By participating in the Ecumenical Prayer
Service that OLV is sponsoring on this
Wednesday, Nov. 25th at 7 pm in the
church. Other Floral Park/Bellerose religious congregations have been invited to
participate as well.
• By attending the Parish Mass on Thanksgiving morning at 10 am. What a great way to
begin a Day of Thanksgiving, by worshiping the God from whom all blessings flow!
Christmas Drives
Please take a tag from the baskets in the
vestibule of the church, to assist either the Sisters of Life gift collection, or the Parish Outreach gift card collection. Then return the items
over the next two weekends, November 28-29,
and December 5-6.
Thank you for your spirit of generosity this
Christmas season!
Financial Report
I like to use the Feast of Christ the King as
an opportunity to report to the parishioners on
parish finances. The fiscal year ended on August 31st. In the center of today’s bulletin is a
summary of the revenues and expenses of the
year.
I am happy to report that the bottom line is a
surplus of $206,575. A quick explanation is that
our regular Sunday/Holyday collections increased by $100,000 compared to the previous
year. And secondly, we received a $100,000
gift from the estate of Dorothy W. Stack. That
was a tremendous boon for us. May I encourage
all of us to consider including OLV Parish in
our will!
Some of the projects that were completed in the
last fiscal year included:
• School windows
• The two entry ways to the lower chapel
• Surveillance cameras for the parish center
• Parish center windows
• Parish center floor sanding
• Rectory to Church hallway renovation
If you continue to support the parish at the
same level this year as you supported us last
year, we will be able to continue the full range
of pastoral services, as well as work on some
renovation projects that need to be completed.
In particular, this summer I would like to improve the condition of the gym since it is used
so often by so many parish groups. But even
more importantly, we will continue to be in a
position to assist parishioners who come to us
in financial crisis - I really believe that that is
the first priority for use of surplus parish funds.
So thank you for putting the parish in a financial position that allows us to fulfill the corporal
works of mercy!
Message from the Sisters of OLV Convent
“Sister Rosemary and Sister Regina Blackwell
want to thank you for the Masses, Enrollments,
prayers and kind expressions of sympathy on
the death of their beloved sister, Sister Joseph
Miriam Blackwell, MSBT.”
Praised be the name of Jesus Christ
now and forever!

kindly upon us and receive our heartfelt
gratitude in this time of giving thanks.
Thank you for all the graces and blessings,
you have bestowed upon us, spiritual and
temporal: our faith and religious heritage.

___________________________
We would like to thank our students and their
families for making this year’s Thanksgiving
Food Drive a great success. Due to your
overwhelming response, we have enough food
to supply St. Vincent De Paul with both
Thanksgiving and Christmas food baskets.
Your generosity is most appreciated.
A special thank you to our anonymous
“giving angel” for donating ALL of the
turkeys and fresh food.
You are truly a blessing!
From the desk of Maureen . . .
Thank you to our Faith Formation students! So much food
was brought in from their Thanksgiving collection. We
couldn’t believe the amount of food, it just keep coming and
coming. All of you, along with the students of OLV school,
and very generous donors, allows the parish to give out wonderful Thanksgiving dinners to all who are in need this year.
It is a joy to witness, and this is the true experience of
Thanksgiving. This parish is a grateful parish, and is willing
to give far more than anyone expects. God bless you all!
We are trying to expand and improve our Special Needs
Mass. If anyone is interested in helping with this Mass we
will have a meeting on Monday, November 23 in the parish
center at 7pm. Please join us if you are interested. Thank you
once again. We wish all a very blessed and happy Thanksgiving to one and all.
In addition, a special thank you to all the volunteers who
helped with the Respite Night for children with Special
Needs. I received so many positive comments from parents
who enjoyed their night and were so excited for the next
one! The friendships that are formed from this night are inspiring, thank you one and all.

OUR LADY OF VICTORY SCHOOL
A PARISH ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
ACCREDITED BY THE MIDDLE STATES ASSOCIATION OF COLLEGES AND SCHOOLS
Dear OLV Parishioners,
Many thanks to the Charities
Committee of the Home School Association,
chaired this year by Mrs. Marykate Alcusky and
Mrs. Jennifer Ieraci, for organizing this year’s
Pantry Tuesday Food Drives. Because of the generosity of our school families, cartons of food
items were collected this past Tuesday and donated to Our Lady of Lourdes in Queens Village to
help feed those in need this Thanksgiving season.
We are grateful to the Charities Committee for
providing our students with an opportunity to put
faith into action.
We have been blessed abundantly here at
OLV School with a caring faculty and staff, classrooms full of students eager to learn with families
who support them and a parish family that is
committed to its continued success. For all these
things, and more, I am grateful. Please keep all of
us in your prayers this Thanksgiving and we will
keep you in ours.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Sincerely,
Peg Augello
