I n t ro d u c t i o n
SURESPAN SRH roof mounted access hatches are of double
skinned insulated construction designed with ease of use and
weatherproofing in mind.
Most Surespan hatches are supplied colour coordinated.
SURESPAN SRH hatches are operated by gas springs, 24v
electric motors and pneumatics as illustrated in this brochure.
SURESPAN SRH hatches are filled with CFC and HCFC free
insulation to BS3958: Part 5: 1986.This offers a high level of
thermal insulation against heat loss and condensation, together
with a weighted sound reduction of Rω = 45db to 30db.
Surespan roof hatches can be provided polyester powder coated
or BioCoted‚ to any standard RAL colour at a nominal extra
cost.
Warranty: Surespan access hatches are guaranteed for
5 years or 10 years for the polyester powder coating option.
The grade 316 stainless steel gas springs we use are
guaranteed for the life of the cover.

These twin hatches are thought to
be the largest single leaf automatic
roof hatches for building
evacuation used in the UK, each
with a nominal overall size of
2.5 x 6.5 metres in width.
Manufactured in aluminium with a
polyester powder coated finish
providing excellent protection and
durability. Each is insulated against
heat loss and condensation to
maintain the thermal integrity of
the building.
Surespan designed and
manufactured this unique 40 metre
diameter glazed conical roof for a
visitors centre and museum.
Comprising 72 double glazed units
with integral emergency escape
hatches as illustrated.The glazing
incorporates trace heating.

Retractable hand hold
The optional retractable hand hold
provides an efficient and economic
method of improving the safety
and convenience of ladder access.
When not in use the hand hold
simply unlatches and slides
down adjacent to the ladder
beneath.

standard with a heavy duty
stainless steel cab lock and in the
interest of security can only be
opened from the inside (unless
otherwise specified).
Smoke Ventilation
Acoustic Performance
Surespan hatches can be designed
to offer a high level of thermal
insulation together with excellent
sound reduction of 45db Rω,
measured in accordance with
ISO 140-3: 1995 and rated in
accordance with ISO 717-1: 1997.
Surespan access hatches can be
supplied as smoke vents.

Insulation Performance
Surespan hatches are designed to
offer a high level of thermal
insulation against heat loss and
condensation, the standard hatch
is filled with 25mm of CFC and
HCFC free insulation with a
U-Value of 0.43 W/m2K to BS3958:
Part 5: 1986. Lower values can
obtained if required.

All Surespan Roof Hatches are
available polyester powder coated
to any standard RAL colour.
Upstand Variant
Surespan access hatches are
supplied with a 200mm upstand as
standard. However, we can produce
any height or raked upstand to suit
your requirement.

The retractable Zip ladder is fixed
to a 600 x 200mm plywood
backboard, which is simply
screwed to an appropriate surface
in the location required. An
adjustable counterbalance spring is
incorporated into the pivot
bracket to ensure that the
stairway can be raised and
lowered smoothly with a minimum
of effort.

Ceiling Access Doors
Fast Fit range 1 steel panels provide protected openings in jointless
suspended ceilings for access to building engineering services. Panel selection
is made from combinations of two frame and two door types according to
‘dry’ or ‘wet’ construction. All panels are supplied powder coated white to
RAL 9010, special colours available on request. Fire rated versions available.
Standard sizes as listed or custom sizes on request.
OPTIONS
Acoustic seals, security locking, air seals, infilled insulation, double doors,
dampened action doors, fully perforated doors, grills and downlighter
apertures, manufacture to special requirements in stainless steel/aluminium.
