On two-wheel drive (2WD) models of the All–New Tucson, engine
choices include an enhanced Nu 2.0 litre MPi petrol engine (Active
and Elite) and an efficient 2.0 litre GDi petrol engine (Active X).
All–wheel drive (AWD) variants are fitted with either a 1.6 litre Turbo
GDi petrol engine (Elite and Highlander) or a 2.0 litre CRDi Diesel engine

Hyundai SUV’s are available with the following active
safety technologies.
ANTI–LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM (ABS) WITH ELECTRONIC
BRAKEFORCE DISTRIBUTION (EBD)
To help keep you out of danger in emergency situations, ABS
with EBD work to prevent the brakes from locking up, optimising
braking pressure between the front and rear wheels to shorten
braking distances.
BRAKE ASSIST SYSTEM (BAS)
Tucson reinforced high–strength tensile steel chassis
BAS assesses how fast the brake pedal is pressed, then if an
emergency is detected, instantly applies maximum force, thereby
shortening braking distances.
VEHICLE STABILITY MANAGEMENT (VSM)
If you find yourself in a situation where your vehicle begins to skid
away from your intended direction, VSM applies steering assistance,
guiding you to the correct steering position to help you maintain control.
LANE DEPARTURE WARNING (LDW)
On the Highlander and SR variants, LDW uses a camera to scan
the road ahead and will alert the driver if it senses the vehicle is
unintentionally veering from it’s current lane.
HILL–START ASSIST CONTROL (HAC)
When a vehicle is on a steep incline, HAC will temporarily hold the
vehicle after you take your foot off the brake. This gives the driver
extra time to apply the throttle and accelerate away without the
vehicle rolling back.
FRONT AND REAR PARK ASSIST
Tucson Electronic Stability Control (ESC)
When reversing, rear sensors (across all variants) together with front
sensors (in Highlander) emit an audible warning sound to alert you to
objects that might be outside your field of vision.
REAR VIEW CAMERA
To assist you while parking in tight spots and to help avoid accidents, a
rear view camera displays the area behind the vehicle in the centre
console LCD colour touch screen.
LED DAYTIME RUNNING LAMPS (DRL)
LED DRLs integrated into the front bumper moulding create a striking
impression and increase visibility of the vehicle to other road users.
AUTOMATIC DUSK SENSING HEADLIGHTS WITH ESCORT FUNCTION
To increase driving safety and the visibility of your vehicle to other
drivers, headlights are automatically turned on as daylight begins to
fade. When exiting the vehicle at night, the headlamps remain lit for
a short period of time, illuminating the pathway ahead.

RIGID BODY CONSTRUCTION
The chassis of the All–New Tucson and Santa Fe features a rigid
construction that has been reinforced with high–tensile strength
materials.

The All–New Tucson is equipped with a comprehensive six airbag
safety system, including driver and front passenger airbags (to
reduce head and neck injuries in the event of a head–on collision),
nearside and offside curtain airbags (improving protection for
the head in case of a side collision) and front side thorax airbags
(to protect the chest and pelvis more effectively).

7–AIRBAGS
In the event of a collision, a comprehensive system of up to seven
airbags are designed to be activated, depending on the area of
impact. This includes driver and front passenger airbags, driver and
front passenger side (thorax) and side curtain airbags (front and
second row) as well as driver’s knee airbag.
KNEE AIRBAG
The Santa Fe also includes a knee airbag, which is installed just below
the steering column and is designed to reduce the risk of serious
injuries to the driver’s leg and knee in the event of a frontal collision.

In addition to the vast array of active and passive
safety systems that are common across the Hyundai
SUV range, the All–New Tucson Highlander variant also
includes Sensory Safety Technology.
AUTONOMOUS EMERGENCY BRAKING (AEB)
Combining radar and camera data, the AEB system autonomously
activates the brakes when it detects dangerous and sudden braking
by the car ahead or pedestrians on the road.
Tucson Highlander Blind Spot Detection (BSD)
LANE KEEP ASSIST SYSTEM (LKAS)
The system will assist by applying steering input to help keep the
vehicle between the lane markings. It’s designed to prevent those
moments when a lapse of concentration can cause the vehicle to
stray outside the lane.
BLIND SPOT DETECTION (BSD)
When driving at a speed of 30km/h or higher, the BSD function will
alert the driver to blind spot objects in close proximity, including
during lane changes.
LANE CHANGE ASSIST (LCA)
Tucson Highlander Lane Departure Warning (LDW)
The LCA system provides a visual warning when radars detect a
vehicle that is approaching rapidly from the rear. When the turn
signal is being used, a flashing warning as well as an audible alert,
notify the driver of the potential hazard.
LANE DEPARTURE WARNING (LDW)
A camera mounted on top of the windshield of Highlander variants,
provides a cutting edge preventive safety mechanism by recognising
lane departures that are not accompanied by a turn signal, and then
initiating an alert to the driver.
REAR CROSS TRAFFIC ALERT (RCTA)
When reversing at a low speed, objects approaching on the left and
right side of the vehicle are detected and an alert is given to safely
navigate a potentially dangerous situation.
PARK ASSIST SYSTEM (PAS)
When parking, eight surround sensors emit an audible warning sound
to alert you to objects that might be outside your field of vision.

Santa Fe extra tough and included many innovative

In building it, we utilised the latest manufacturing
technologies (such as hot stamping and roll forming)
as well as 10% more high tensile – strength steel in
its body structure than the previous Santa Fe.
These construction techniques improve both collision
protection and overall durability.

other benefits of driving an SUV, such as tall ground
clearance as well as 4WD lock and Downhill Brake
Control, all of which let you go places you’d never
