pounds. The Liberty is powered by a Cummins engine
coupled to an Allison six-speed transmission.

The EZ-Street low-floor cutaway is built with General
Coach America’s exclusive SteelGuard construction
and has a floor height of only 12 inches after engaging
the kneeling feature. With a spacious 102-inch width,
features include rear-wheel drive, self-diagnosing
electrical system, rear air suspension, and an ADA
wheelchair ramp that flips out for easy and rapid loading.

Dallas Smith showcased three chassis equipped with
its IntelliSYNC four-point air kneeling system. The
complete front and rear air-ride suspension package
gives a vehicle on-demand kneeling capabilities when
at a complete stop. In a matter of seconds, IntelliSYNC
can bring a vehicle’s frame rail height down to as low
as 18 inches and will return the vehicle to the standard
ride height just as quickly. Upgrading a vehicle with IntelliSYNC requires absolutely no modifications to the
chassis/frame, according to Dallas Smith officials.

ElDorado’s Advantage cutaway on display was
built on a Ford E-450 and featured state of the
art lightweight materials to increase payload
capacity and improve fuel efficiency and brake
life. The vehicle also features better handling
characteristics and a softer ride for exceptional
passenger comfort, according to company
officials. The company also displayed its Aero
Elite, the Passport HD cutaway and the AXess.

The Premier is built on a Freightliner chassis and is
available with a wheelbase of 270 inches or 305 inches.
It is powered by a Cummins ISB 6.7-liter engine and
offers LCD flat screens, painted skirts, backup camera
and alarm, LED lighting and large touring windows. The
Premier provides seating from 39 passengers with two
wheelchairs, plus driver, to 44 passengers, plus driver.

Available in several horsepower ratings with up to 300 hp and 660 pound-foot
torque, the MB-65 pairs a Cummins engine with an Allison transmission, and
now, offers Airtex air suspension as an additional option. In addition, the durable,
heavy-duty steel frame rails are available in wheelbases ranging up to 276 inches
and designed to reduce flex, road vibration and bowing for a coach that delivers a

The Entourage is built on a Ford F-550 super duty chassis with
a Ford 6.7-liter diesel engine. Also available with a Ford Gas 6.8
liter gas engine, the vehicle features a gross vehicle weight of
up to 19,500 pounds, seats up to 33 passengers and a large fullview curb window for greater visibility. Glaval also displayed the
Concord II, the Titan II low-floor cutaway and the Legacy, which
is now available with a 102-inch width.

On display with a Supreme Senator SII body, GM’s
Express chassis has a 3.73 rear axle ratio, 14,200
pound gross vehicle weight and is powered by a
Duramax Diesel 6.6 liter V8 engine with a six-speed
heavy duty automatic transmission. The Shuttle
Bus Package includes chrome appearance package,
tilt/cruise, soft mount donuts, auxiliary rear heat
provisions, and stop/turn signal circuits.

With an all-in-one proprietary design, the AC Series is powered
by a MaxxForce 7 diesel engine and an Allison 1000 Series
transmission. It is available in lengths up to 25 feet and gross

Lightning Hybrids, an innovative manufacturing
company based in Loveland, Colo., hosted a ride
along in its new hydraulic hybrid shuttle bus. The
retrofit hydraulic hybrid system delivers up to 40%
improvement in fuel economy, made possible by
regenerating braking energy — and it has more power
for acceleration and stopping. The Lightning Hybrids
retrofit hydraulic hybrid demo system for BusCon was
applied to a 2012 Ford E-450 from Davey Coach.

Micro Bird Inc., a joint venture company between Blue Bird and Girardin,
designs and manufactures a complete line of shuttle and transit buses for up to
25 passengers. The MB-II cutaway on display was built on a Ford E-350 chassis
and featured a wheelchair lift. Micro Bird also offers a propane-powered option.

partner, Green Alternative Systems. Built on a Ford E-450
chassis with a 6.8-liter, V10 engine and a 41-gallon
propane autogas fuel tank, the ROUSH CleanTech shuttle
bus has completed Altoona Testing and is certified for sale
in all 50 states by the California Air Resources Board and
Environmental Protection Agency.

The new BE-550 lightweight bulkhead evaporator,
for small- to mid-size shuttle and school bus
applications, is a split system solution that can
be mounted in the front, rear or both bulkhead
areas of a vehicle. Three-speed blowers provide
optimal pull-down on the evaporator to maximize
passenger comfort. The blowers and the returnair filter are easily accessible to allow for efficient

The 30-passenger TS30 features an integral stainless steel

The new MV-1 LX, specifically built for disabled
passengers, comes with a standard Ford V-8 gas
engine, but is also available with a Ford V-8 CNG
engine. Features include a power ramp with lighted,
anti-skid surface and raised side barriers, a wheelchair
securement and restraint system, and an enhanced
radio package that will eventually include a rear backup
camera system. The vehicle is assembled at the former
Hummer plant in Mishawaka, Ind.
