GAME 1
BUCS 24 VIKINGS 13
September 11, 2005
Metrodome (63,939)
MINNEAPOLIS – Tampa Bay defeated Minnesota
behind a suffocating defense that forced five Vikings
turnovers, giving the Buccaneers their first win
in Minnesota since 1997. The Bucs defense held
Minnesota without an offensive touchdown for the
first time since the 2001 season and limited the
Vikings to 33 rushing yards. CB Brian Kelly matched
his career-high with two interceptions while DE
Simeon Rice recorded one sack and one forced
fumble. Two Bucs rookies led the offensive charge
as TE Alex Smith hauled in two TD receptions and
RB Carnell “Cadillac” Williams rushed for 148 yards
on 27 carries, the fifth-highest rushing total in NFL
history for a rookie debut, including a 71-yard TD
run late in the game to secure the victory. Tampa
Bay fell behind 7-0 late in the first quarter as Vikings
S Darren Sharper returned an interception 88 yards
for a score. But the Buccaneers would dominate the
second quarter, scoring 17 unanswered points as
QB Brian Griese found Smith for a 23-yard scoring
pass on the first play of the second frame following
an eight-play, 71-yard drive. Two drives later, Tampa
Bay marched 80 yards on 11 plays as Griese hooked
up with Smith from two yards out as Tampa Bay
took a 14-7 lead. The Buccaneers closed out the
scoring in the first half as K Matt Bryant connected
from 41 yards to push the score to 17-7. Minnesota
registered the only points of the third quarter on a
K Paul Edinger 53-yard field goal. The Vikings closed
the deficit to 17-13 following an Edinger 22-yard
field goal with 6:13 remaining in the contest and
regained possession with 4:11 remaining after a
Buccaneers punt. Minnesota advanced to the Tampa
Bay 12-yard line but Kelly recorded his second
interception with 1:45 remaining. On third-and-one
on the ensuing drive, Williams put the game out of
reach with his first career touchdown run. Trailing
24-13, the Vikings regained possession but LB
Derrick Brooks picked off a QB Daunte Culpepper
pass to end any comeback attempt.

2005 SEASON REVIEW
TAMPA – Tampa Bay defeated the Buffalo Bills 19-3
to begin the season 2-0 for the first time since the
2000 season while winning its home opener for
the first time since 2001. The Buccaneers defense
was suffocating, holding the Bills offense to 147
total yards, including 47 rushing yards, while not
surrendering an offensive touchdown for the second
consecutive week. Additionally, the Buccaneers
forced the Bills offense into six three-and-out
possessions while limiting Buffalo to only eight first
downs, including one in the first half. Rookie RB
Carnell “Cadillac” Williams rushed for 128 yards
and one touchdown on 24 carries, marking his
second consecutive 100-yard rushing performance. Tampa Bay took a 2-0 lead with 9:29 remaining in
the second quarter when Buccaneers LB Shelton
Quarles forced Bills QB J.P. Losman out of the back
of the end zone for a safety. Following the free
kick, the Buccaneers drove 67 yards on 11 plays to
extend the lead to 9-0 on a one-yard touchdown
run by FB Mike Alstott. Buffalo closed out the first
half scoring on the ensuing possession as K Ryan
Lindell connected on a 40-yard field goal with 1:01
remaining in the half. Tampa Bay extended the lead
to 16-3 late in the third quarter on Williams’ threeyard touchdown run. K Matt Bryant closed out the
scoring with 9:22 left in the contest, converting on a
40-yard field goal attempt.

BUCS 17 PACKERS 16
September 25, 2005
Lambeau Field (70,518)
GREEN BAY – Tampa Bay defeated the Packers
in Wisconsin for the first time since 1989 behind a
defensive effort that forced four turnovers and RB
Carnell “Cadillac” Williams. Williams became the
first rookie in NFL history to rush for over 100 yards
in each of his first three career games, totaling 158
yards on 37 carries. Buccaneers WR Joey Galloway
also hauled in two TD receptions and S Will Allen
recorded his first career multi-interception game,
picking off two QB Brett Favre passes in the
fourth quarter. Following a Packers’ fumble on their
opening possession, Tampa Bay took control at their
own 46-yard line and took a 7-0 lead 12 plays later
as QB Brian Griese connected with Galloway on a
five-yard scoring pass. Facing a fourth down on the
ensuing possession, Favre hit WR Robert Ferguson
on a 37-yard scoring pass, but K Ryan Longwell
missed the extra point. Tampa Bay drove 55 yards
in six plays on the next possession to increase the
lead to 14-6 on Galloway’s 10-yard TD reception,
his second of the day. Tampa Bay got the ball back
three plays later as CB Brian Kelly picked off a Favre
pass inside Packers territory, setting up K Matt
Bryant’s 42-yard FG with 6:48 remaining in the half
for a 17-6 Buccaneers lead. Green Bay answered as
Favre hit WR Antonio Chatman on a 20-yard scoring
strike to cut the Buccaneers lead to 17-13 before
the end of the half. After a scoreless third quarter,
the teams traded interceptions early in the fourth,
as Packers CB Ahmad Carroll picked off a Griese
pass and returned it to the Tampa Bay 32-yard line,
setting up a Longwell 32-yard FG. Allen recorded
his second INT of the game on Green Bay’s next
drive, giving the Buccaneers possession with 5:03
remaining in the contest. Behind the running of
Williams, Tampa Bay ran out the clock.

2005 SEASON REVIEW
TAMPA – Tampa Bay defeated Detroit behind a
defensive effort that featured a Buccaneers stand
inside their own 20-yard line with less than a minute
remaining in the contest. Lions QB Joey Harrington
hit TE Marcus Pollard for the apparent go-ahead
12-yard TD pass with :13 remaining, but officials
overturned the ruling on the field after the replay
showed Pollard was out of bounds when he caught
the ball. The Buccaneers limited the Lions to 135
passing yards while also holding Detroit to just 91
rushing yards, marking the fourth consecutive game
the Bucs defense limited an opponent to less than
100 yards rushing. WR Joey Galloway hauled in
seven receptions for a career-high 166 yards and
one touchdown to lead the offense. RB Michael
Pittman accounted for 126 yards of offense, rushing
five times for 30 yards and totaling six catches
for 96 yards, including a 41-yard TD. Tampa Bay
used a 43-yard FG by K Matt Bryant for an early
3-0 lead. Following a Buccaneers fumble early in
the second quarter, Detroit tied the contest at 3-3
on a K Jason Hanson 44-yard FG. Lions RB Kevin
Jones gave Detroit a 10-3 lead on an eight-yard TD
run with just under five minutes remaining in the
first half following a Lions interception deep inside
Buccaneers territory. Tampa Bay responded on its
next possession as QB Brian Griese found Pittman
down the sideline to tie the game at 10-10 before
the half. The Buccaneers took their first lead of the
game three plays into the second half as Griese
found Galloway on an 80-yard TD. The Lions cut the
deficit to 17-13 midway through the fourth quarter
on a Hanson 23-yard FG that was set up by a Lions
interception. Detroit regained possession with 5:14

October 9, 2005
The Meadowlands (77,852)
EAST RUTHERFORD – Tampa Bay lost its first game
of the season against the Jets in a close contest
that went down to the end. Trailing by two points,
Tampa Bay took possession with one minute left
and advanced to the Jets 34-yard line, but time
expired before the Bucs could attempt a field goal.
CB Ronde Barber led an impressive defensive effort
that held the Jets to less than 100 rushing yards and
just 212 total yards. Tampa Bay was forced to punt
on its first drive of the contest, but the Buccaneers
regained possession in New York territory when the
Jets fumbled on the punt return. The Buccaneers
capitalized on the ensuing drive, taking a 3-0 lead
on K Matt Bryant’s 35-yard FG. Tampa Bay held a
6-0 lead midway through the second quarter when
Jets CB Ty Law intercepted a QB Brian Griese pass
and returned it to the Bucs eight-yard line, setting
up RB Curtis Martin’s two-yard TD run to give the
Jets a 7-6 lead. Tampa Bay regained the lead just
before halftime as Bryant hit his third FG of the first
half, connecting on a 43-yarder following a 13-play,
65-yard drive. Former Buc QB Vinny Testaverde
drove New York to the Buccaneers one-yard line on
the opening possession of the second half. Facing
a fourth down near the Tampa Bay goal line, Martin
plunged into the end zone for a one-yard TD run
to give the Jets a 14-9 lead. Following Barber’s
interception midway through the fourth quarter,
Tampa Bay drove 74 yards to the Jets 12-yard line,
but had to settle for a 30-yard FG by Bryant, cutting
the New York lead to 14-12. The Tampa Bay defense
forced a Jets punt on the ensuing possession, but
the Buccaneers comeback attempt fell short as
time expired.

TAMPA – The division rival Panthers took
advantage of four Buccaneers turnovers, including
an interception returned for a touchdown, to
defeat Tampa Bay in a battle between NFC South
division leaders. The Buccaneers defense limited
an opponent to less than 100 rushing yards for
the seventh time in eight games on the season,
holding Carolina to 77 yards on 32 carries. WR
Joey Galloway led all Bucs receivers, totaling five
receptions for 83 yards and one touchdown, his
12th score in the last 13 games. The Panthers took
a 10-0 lead in the first quarter on a 30-yard FG by
K John Kasay and a four-yard touchdown run by
RB Stephen Davis that was set up by a Buccaneers
fumble. Tampa Bay got on the board on the first
play of the second quarter as QB Chris Simms hit
Galloway in the end zone on a 50-yard scoring pass
to pull the Buccaneers within three at 10-7. Carolina
increased its lead to 17-7 before halftime on Davis’
second touchdown run of the day, this time from
one yard out. On the first possession of the second
half, Tampa Bay drove into Carolina territory but
Simms was picked off by CB Chris Gamble, who
returned the pass 61 yards for a touchdown and a
24-7 Panthers advantage. Holding a 27-7 lead early
in the fourth quarter, Carolina QB Jake Delhomme
found WR Steve Smith on a 35-yard scoring strike
to close out the Panthers scoring. The Buccaneers
cut the deficit to 34-14 on FB Mike Alstott’s oneyard touchdown plunge midway through the fourth

TAMPA – FB Mike Alstott’s decisive two-point
conversion following two Redskins penalties with
58 seconds left in the game propelled Tampa Bay
to victory. Making his fifth career start, QB Chris
Simms led the game-winning drive with less than
two minutes remaining as he found WR Edell
Shepherd on a 30-yard TD pass to pull Tampa Bay
within one at 35-34, setting up Alstott’s conversion.
Tampa Bay’s defense did not allow Washington
to cross midfield on the ensuing possession to
end the comeback attempt. Simms threw for a
career-high three TDs and DE Simeon Rice paced
the Buccaneers defense, posting five tackles, two
sacks, one INT, one pass defensed and two forced
fumbles. Following a CB Juran Bolden INT, Tampa
Bay took a 7-0 lead on a one-yard TD run by Alstott.
The Buccaneers increased the lead to 14-3 midway
through the second quarter on Alstott’s second TD,
this time set up by Rice’s sack and forced fumble of
QB Mark Brunell. Washington cut the lead to 14-10
on the ensuing kickoff as RB Ladell Betts scored on
94-yard return. The Buccaneers responded on their
next possession as Simms hit Galloway on a 24-yard
scoring pass for a 21-10 lead. But the Redskins
scored the game’s next 18 points for a 28-21 edge
with 5:19 remaining in the third quarter. Simms then
engineered a seven-play, 70-yard drive that resulted
in a WR Ike Hilliard four-yard TD reception to tie the
score at 28-28. The Redskins regained the lead on
their next possession as RB Clinton Portis scored
on an eight-yard TD run. Following a scoreless
possession, the Buccaneers took over with 1:52
remaining at their 46-yard line and Simms drove the
team 54 yards in five plays for the TD.

HISTORY
ATLANTA – Tampa Bay earned its second
consecutive victory in the game’s final two minutes
on K Matt Bryant’s game-winning 45-yard FG with
42 seconds remaining. LB Derrick Brooks helped
set up Bryant’s FG, blitzing Atlanta QB Michael
Vick to help force a fumble that Bucs LB Shelton
Quarles recovered in Falcons territory. Atlanta had
an opportunity to tie the game on the ensuing
possession but Michael Koenen’s 55-yard FG sailed
wide right as time expired. Tampa Bay jumped out
to a 10-0 first quarter lead as Bryant hit a 31-yard
FG and Rice stripped Atlanta backup QB Matt
Schaub, who had entered the game to replace an
injured Michael Vick for one play, and DT Anthony
McFarland recovered the fumble in the end zone
for a TD. The teams traded field goals in the second
quarter before Atlanta RB T.J. Duckett scored from
one yard out with 16 seconds remaining in the first
half, cutting Tampa Bay’s lead to 13-10. Atlanta took
the opening possession of the second half 73 yards
in 10 plays to take its first lead of the game at 17-13
on a Vick four-yard TD pass to TE Alge Crumpler.
The Buccaneers responded with an impressive drive
of their own, marching 69 yards in seven plays on
the ensuing possession to regain the lead at 20-17
following FB Mike Alstott’s one-yard TD run, his
fourth in the last three games. Atlanta scored the
game’s next 10 points in the fourth quarter on a K
Todd Peterson 20-yard field goal and a Vick 10-yard
TD pass to WR Michael Jenkins that was set up by
LB Keith Brooking’s interception of Bucs QB Chris
Simms near midfield. Trailing 27-20 midway through
the final quarter, Simms engineered an 11-play, 71yard drive that culminated with a nine-yard Carnell
Williams TD run just after the two-minute warning.
On the third play of Atlanta’s next possession,
Brooks burst through the Falcons offensive line to
pressure Vick into fumbling, setting up Bryant’s
game-winner four plays later.

November 27, 2005
Raymond James Stadium (65,506)
TAMPA – The Buccaneers had an opportunity to
tie the Bears late in the fourth quarter, but K Matt
Bryant’s 29-yard field goal attempt sailed wide right
to help the Bears hold off Tampa Bay. In a battle
between two of the league’s top five defenses,
the Buccaneers limited Chicago to just 239 total
yards. DE Simeon Rice recorded his ninth sack of
the season, including his seventh in his past seven
games, while also posting his fifth forced fumble
in his previous five contests. Following a Chicago
punt on its first possession, Tampa Bay took over
inside its own 10-yard line but QB Chris Simms was
stripped by Bears DE Alex Brown on third down. The
Bears recovered the fumble on the Bucs one-yard
line and QB Kyle Orton then found TE John Gilmore
for a 7-0 lead. Late in the first quarter, Tampa Bay
cut the lead to 7-3 on a Bryant 27-yard FG. The
defenses would dominate the second quarter, with
the only scoring coming with 17 seconds remaining
on Chicago K Robbie Gould’s 25-yard FG. Chicago
extended its lead to 13-3 late in the third quarter on
a 36-yard FG by Gould. The Buccaneers closed to
within three at 13-10 with 7:00 left in the contest on
FB Mike Alstott’s two-yard TD plunge, his team-best
sixth rushing TD of the season. Following a Bears
punt, Tampa Bay began the next drive at its 31-yard
line. Simms guided the Bucs to the Bears 11-yard
line, setting up the potential game-tying FG with
2:51 remaining. In the contest, WR Joey Galloway
became just the seventh player in Buccaneers
history to record 1,000 receiving yards in a season.

BATON ROUGE – CB Ronde Barber tied his own
club record with three interceptions, including his
final interception at the Tampa Bay goal line with
less than two minutes to play, to seal the Buccaneers
fourth road victory of the season. Playing in Baton
Rouge for the first time because of Hurricane
Katrina, the Buccaneers defense forced four QB
Aaron Brooks interceptions while limiting the Saints
to 65 rushing yards. Conversely, the Buccaneers
offense did not commit a turnover and produced
133 rushing yards, led by RB Carnell Williams’ 96
yards on 22 carries. On its second possession of
the game, New Orleans drove inside Buccaneers
territory but Barber made a one-handed interception
over the middle to end the Saints threat. After a
scoreless first quarter, Tampa Bay followed Barber’s
second INT of the day with a five-play, 64-yard
drive that culminated with a QB Chris Simms to WR
Joey Galloway 30-yard touchdown pass and a 7-0
Buccaneers lead. New Orleans cut the lead to 7-3
on the ensuing possession just before halftime on a
K John Carney 26-yard FG. The Saints threatened on
the opening possession of the second half, driving
to the Buccaneers 30-yard line, but Brooks was
intercepted in the end zone by Tampa Bay S Dexter
Jackson. Following a scoreless third quarter, Tampa
Bay extended its lead to 10-3 with 9:37 remaining
in the game on K Todd France’s 28-yard field goal.
New Orleans would advance to the Tampa Bay
20-yard line in the game’s final minutes, but Barber
preserved the victory with his third interception.

CHARLOTTE – Rookie RB Carnell Williams’ second
rushing touchdown of the day put Tampa Bay up
by 17 points with 5:39 remaining in the contest,
propelling the Buccaneers to their first win over
Carolina in their last six meetings. In a battle for
first place in the NFC South, Williams tied the
Buccaneers’ team single-season record with his
fifth 100-yard rushing performance of the season,
totaling 112 yards on 29 carries with a career-high
two touchdowns. CB Ronde Barber became the
first cornerback in NFL history to record 20 sacks
and 20 interceptions in his career, dropping QB
Jake Delhomme for his 20th career sack in the
fourth quarter while also recording his 28th career
interception in the fourth quarter. The Buccaneers
defense had an impressive outing, allowing the
Panthers to convert just 2-of-11 third downs on
the afternoon. Tampa Bay took advantage of good
field position on its second possession of the game,
taking a 7-0 lead on Williams’ 14-yard TD run at
the 4:04 mark of the first quarter. Playing much of
the second quarter in Carolina territory, Tampa Bay
extended its lead to 10-0 on K Matt Bryant’s 34yard FG on the last play of the first half. The teams
exchanged field goals in the third quarter as Tampa
Bay took a 13-3 lead into the final quarter. Carolina
drove deep into Buccaneers territory early in the
fourth quarter, but Barber intercepted a Delhomme
pass inside the 10-yard line to end the scoring
threat. Tampa Bay responded on the resulting
possession, marching 58 yards in 10 plays to put the
game out of reach on Williams’ 10-yard TD run.

2005 SEASON REVIEW
FOXBOROUGH – In their first meeting in Foxborough
since 2000, the Buccaneers were shut out for the
first time since 1999 by the two-time defending
Super Bowl champion New England Patriots. Tampa
Bay WR Ike Hilliard led the team with five catches
for 50 yards, surpassing 400 career receptions in the
contest while DE Simeon Rice recorded his 10th sack
of the season, marking the eighth time overall and
fifth consecutive season, he has recorded at least 10
sacks, tying him for fifth-most in NFL history in both
categories. Tampa Bay surrendered a touchdown on
the opening drive of the game for the first time all
season as the Patriots took a 7-0 lead on a QB Tom
Brady to T Tom Ashworth one-yard touchdown pass.
New England’s second scoring drive in the second
quarter was aided by two 15-yard penalties on the
Buccaneers as the Patriots extended their lead to
14-0 on a three-yard RB Corey Dillon touchdown run.
On Tampa Bay’s next possession with less than two
minutes remaining before halftime, Patriots LB Willie
McGinest forced and recovered a QB Chris Simms
fumble inside Tampa Bay territory. Three plays
later, Brady found WR David Givens on a 16-yard
touchdown pass with 27 seconds remaining in the
half for a 21-0 lead. After a scoreless third quarter,
New England pushed its lead to 28-0 early in the
fourth quarter as Brady found Dillon for his third
touchdown pass of the day from two yards out.

TAMPA – In one of the most thrilling games in team
history, Tampa Bay won on K Matt Bryant’s 41-yard
game-winning FG with just 15 seconds remaining
in overtime. Rookie RB Carnell “Cadillac” Williams
set a rookie team record for most rushing yards
in a season by reaching 1,097 for the year. Atlanta
took a 7-0 lead late in the first quarter on a QB
Michael Vick four-yard TD pass to FB Justin Griffith.
The Buccaneers responded on their next drive,
going 72 yards in six plays to tie the game on a
QB Chris Simms to FB Jameel Cook nine-yard TD
pass, the 900th score in team history. On Atlanta’s
next possession, DE Dewayne White forced a Vick
fumble in Falcons territory that was recovered by
Tampa Bay. Four plays later, Simms threw his second
TD pass of the day, this time to FB Mike Alstott for
a 14-7 lead. Following a Simms INT near midfield,
Atlanta tied the game late in the first half on a Vick
to WR Michael Jenkins eight-yard TD pass. Tampa
Bay drove into Atlanta territory on the ensuing
possession, but Simms was intercepted by CB
DeAngelo Hall, who returned it to the Bucs 13-yard
line, setting up a K Todd Peterson 31-yard FG for a
17-14 Falcons lead at halftime. Following a scoreless
third quarter, Tampa Bay tied the score on Bryant’s
career-long 50-yard FG with 9:01 remaining in
regulation. Atlanta regained the lead on its ensuing
possession on a two-yard TD run by RB T.J. Duckett
with 4:18 left in the game. Facing a fourth down
with 31 seconds remaining at the Atlanta six-yard
line, Williams rushed around the left side for a sixyard TD to set up overtime. Tampa Bay won the coin
toss, but WR Edell Shepherd fumbled the kickoff
and Atlanta recovered at the Bucs 18-yard line. The
Falcons lined up for the potential game-winning
28-yard FG three plays later, but White blocked
the attempt. Bryant then missed the possible game
winner from 27 yards out following a bad snap, but
the Buccaneers regained possession for the final
time with 54 seconds remaining in the game near
midfield. Simms guided the Bucs to the Atlanta 23yard line, setting up Bryant’s game-winning FG.

2005 SEASON REVIEW
TEAM STATISTICS
PLAYERS
TAMPA – Tampa Bay won its second NFC South
title in four years and its fifth division title in team
history by beating the New Orleans Saints in the
2005 regular season finale. Buccaneers WR Joey
Galloway recorded his ninth and 10th receiving
TDs of the season, setting a new Buccaneers
single-season record, while DE Simeon Rice posted
the 33rd multi-sack game of his career, posting
two sacks on the day. On the game’s opening
possession, New Orleans faced a 4th-and-2 at the
Buccaneers 34-yard line when QB Todd Bouman was
picked off by Tampa Bay S Will Allen at the 12-yard
line. On their ensuing possession, the Buccaneers
put together a season-long 15-play, eight-minute
drive that resulted in a seven-yard TD reception by
Galloway and a 7-0 Buccaneers lead. After a Saints
field goal, RB Michael Pittman reeled off a 64-yard
run to the Saints one-yard line on the first play of
the Buccaneers drive. Three plays later, QB Chris
Simms found Galloway from four yards out for his
second TD on the day and a 14-3 lead. New Orleans
cut the lead to 14-10 with 3:36 left in the first half
on a Bouman to WR Devery Henderson 24-yard
scoring pass. With less than two minutes remaining
in the opening half, Bucs CB Juran Bolden picked
off Bouman inside New Orleans territory to set up
K Matt Bryant’s 46-yard FG for a 17-10 halftime
lead. After a scoreless third quarter, the teams
traded field goals on the first two possessions of
the fourth quarter. Trailing 20-13, the Saints began
their potential comeback drive at their own 25-yard
line with 2:11 to play, but on the drive’s second play,
Tampa Bay DE Dewayne White stripped Bouman
and recovered the fumble, racing 34 yards for his
first career TD to put the game out of reach with
1:43 remaining.

TAMPA – Despite surrendering just 120 yards of
total offense to the Redskins, Tampa Bay suffered
its first playoff defeat at Raymond James Stadium
in the NFC Wild Card contest. The 120 yards were
the fewest yards gained by a winning team in a
game in NFL playoff history. Redskins QB Mark
Brunell was limited to seven completions on 15
attempts for 41 yards and one interception while
the Washington rushing attack averaged only 3.1
yards per carry. Tampa Bay fell behind 14-0 in the
first quarter following two miscues. Redskins LB
LaVar Arrington picked off a tipped QB Chris Simms
pass deep in Buccaneers territory on their second
possession, setting up a RB Clinton Portis six-yard
TD run. On the ensuing possession, RB Carnell
“Cadillac” Williams fumbled and Redskins S Sean
Taylor returned it 51 yards for a touchdown. The
two teams traded field goals in the second quarter
as Washington held a 17-3 lead at halftime. Tampa
Bay cut the lead to 17-10 on its first possession
of the second half, driving 51 yards in seven plays
as Simms capped it off with a two-yard TD run
for what turned out to be the final scoring of the
day. Following a CB Brian Kelly interception in
Washington territory with just under four minutes
remaining, the Buccaneers had a chance to tie the
game but Simms’ 35-yard pass into the end zone to
WR Edell Shepherd was ruled incomplete. Tampa
Bay regained possession near midfield with 1:05 left
in the contest, but Simms was intercepted following
another tipped ball on the first play of the drive.
