PASSIONS
Monica Bellucci
At the Cartier Polo in St-Moritz
The 24th Cartier Polo World Cup on Snow
took place under a radiant sun between the
24th and 27th January 2008 in St-Moritz, the
best polo on snow in the world
Tradition
Cartier has maintained close ties with polo for
a quarter of a century, essentially in the search
for a partnership that would incarnate elegance,
passion, tradition and diversity, Cartier became
involved early on with polo, a sport that unites
all of these characteristics. Over time the links
between Cartier and polo were strengthened
and the Cartier Polo World Cup on Snow,
created in 1986 has seen an ever-increasing
success.
A dazzling display of emotion and beauty
On the platform, an imposing presence, that
of famous actress Monica Bellucci, the Cartier
ambassador was won over by winter polo.
Bernard Fornas, President and CEO of Cartier
International discovered polo on snow and was
impressed by the atmosphere and splendid
weather during this high-carat event.
Guillermo Terrera, José Donoso, Marcos di
Paola played for team Cartier along with
Adriano Agosti, the latter having already won
the Cartier Trophy in St-Moritz six times. Guy
Schwarzenbach, Johnny Good, Paul Clarkin
and Nacho Gonzalez formed the Brioni team.
The Brioni team finally beat the sponsor’s team
8 ½ to 6 in the last chukka of the final; the
Maybach team took third place ahead of
Banque Julius Bär.
On the Saturday a celebratory evening at
Badrutts Palace Hotel was the perfect ending
to this high-level sporting event.

PASSIONS
Veronique Lemore
Portraits of animals more real than nature
and at Fontainebleau. Recently settled in the
beautiful region of Aix-les-Bains, she gives a
free rein to her imagination, her work shows
an astonishing delicacy and purity.
Mad about horses and a skilled rider,
Véronique Lemore has been involved in
the equestrian world since her childhood.
Following her training at the Atelier Beaubourg
in Paris, she very quickly showed a marked
inclination towards animal paintings, most
notably of horses, dogs and African animals.
At the age of twenty-five Véronique Lemore
found her public and held exhibitions in Paris
Beauty and authenticity
What is really striking is her deep love for
animals, whether in her oils, watercolours,
sketches or red chalk drawings her emotion
is translated into the beauty of her subjects
faithfully reproduced in minute detail.
She has had great success with a number of
animal owners who appreciate the authenticity and creativity of her works, her art, both
intuitive and technical with an incredible
attention to detail shows a true creative force.
Thanks to her deep knowledge of the animal
world, Véronique Lemore eloquently pierces
the intimate feelings of her subjects so that they
appear full of emotion. At the same time you
cannot miss the romantic curves preferred by
the artist nor the fine, harmonious shapes of
her subjects. Her creations are a reflection of
her intimate vision of the animal as well as its
exterior vitality. With a lively eye on the animals
she combines their immediate beauty with the
incisive trait of a continuous quest for beauty.
In certain compositions it is not the animals
that make the tableau but a certain geometric
arrangement symmetry and a particular combination of subjects harmoniously exhibited.
Véronique Lemore has a penchant for creating
sketchbooks often as commissions for clients,
having a predilection for minutiae work, this
mode of expression allows her to enlarge upon
themes such as teams of horses, safaris or polo
giving them a specially adapted text.
Véronique Lemore’s work is on permanent
display at the Crillon Hotel in Paris, the purity
and finesse of her works should not be missed!

A “mini-Concorde”
Supersonic business plane
Created by the Aerion Corporation in the
USA, this is what they describe as a “miniConcorde”, a supersonic business plane.
Is your piggy-bank suffering? Speed costs, a
nice little plane could cost a cool few hundred
millions, but “its worth it” you say. These are
worth it as well; they include all the latest
advances and all the imaginable advantages.
Take off from Geneva at 8:00, an early breakfast
in New York having crossed France at Mach
0.98 and then the Atlantic at Mach 1.6. Just 12
passengers in an environment that offers the
height of elegance, science and technology; if
the ticket price makes you hesitate, the flight
time will convince you. It is equivalent or even
inferior to the cost of a large business jet such
as the Global Express WRS. Amongst the major
advances, most notable are the very efficient
noise reduction systems and the longevity of
the deliberately underused engines. No bang
before Mach 1.1.

Castognola and Lucas Monteverde the three
other exceptional champions that made up the

ambassadors of the brand and showed that the
values of the sport are more and more closely
linked to those of the mark. We should mention that Jaeger-LeCoultre is the first watchmaking brand to be crowned at the Abierto.

Charriol wins
the Polo Masters in Megève
Victory smiles on Charriol. The team sponsored by the Geneva-based brand emerged
victorious at the Snow Polo International that
took places in January at the heart of Megève.
A captivating tournament
6 teams; Charriol. JetFly, Jaeger-LeCoultre,
Groupe LGF Rothschild, Sal Oppenheim and
Constance Hotels competed in a prestigious
display on exceptional snow and under a
brilliant sun.
After a closely fought final, the Charriol team
snatched victory from the JetFly team 4 goals
to 3 whilst Sal Oppenheim and Jaeger-LeCoultre
shared third place. To mark the occasion, Charriol
dedicated four resolutely sporty watches from
the Rotonde Collection.
The winning team included Jaime Espinosa
and Alex Figuerra from Madrid, Argentine
Guillermo Perreira (handicapped 7) and
Frenchman Edouard Carmignac who put on
an excellent display.
Philippe Charriol took the opportunity to
congratulate his friend Jean-Yves Delfosse
organiser of the Polo on Snow International in
Megève in winter and the Saint-Tropez Polo
Masters in summer.
Equipe Louis Pommery
Equipe Pure Altitude
More than ever the links between JaegerLeCoultre and polo strengthen with sports
partnerships sponsored by the brand in
numerous countries and the announcement of
an agreement made with the best polo players
in the world (the Jaeger-LeCoultre team in
Megève was made up of Sammy Mohammad,
Philippe Fatien, Gaëtan Charloux and Brieuc
Rigault). The Squadra- the first Reverso to
deliberately turn its back on the illustrious
rectangular proportions in favour of a case
with audacious square lines- celebrated the
return to the roots of the reversible watch; the
polo. Created very definitely for men, the
watch combines elegance and strength.
Ladies Pommery Cup
This year women were honoured by the First
Ladies Pommery Cup; the first tournament on
snow in Europe entirely dedicated to feminine
competition was won by the French Pommery
team beating the English Pure Altitude Team.
The participation of Scapa Polo Kids allowed
children aged between 12 and 14 to show their
talent as future polo stars.
Equipe Jeager-LeCoultre
The strength, speed and precision of the players proved once again that the Megève Polo
Masters is amongst the most prestigious winter competitions.
