The Center for Developmental Services had an incredible year in 2015 with significant
funding grants and accolades, including our first ever “Best in the Upstate” designation!
We are humbled by what we have been able to accomplish over the past twelve months,
and it has been a privilege to serve our families.
We began the year with a re-branding and marketing effort that timed perfectly with our
15th year celebration. Once the new logo was designed, we updated our website, designed
new brochures, and expanded our social media outreach. In addition, a beautiful mural
was painted on the exterior of our building along with a landscaping makeover.
Our momentum continued with fun events that added value and enrichment to existing
services. The Greenville Garden Club held a fashion show luncheon that benefited CDS
and featured one of our children. SANDLAPPER Securities hosted a hockey game with
many of our families participating in the pre-game festivities. We had special guests and
visitors such as Disney characters, professional sports teams, musicians, the local police,
and fire departments. Volunteers from local high schools and businesses also helped with
arts & crafts and various holiday activities throughout the year.
To prepare for continued growth, we approved a new three-year strategic plan that will
broaden our programs and allow us to better utilize our existing space. This long-term
plan will strengthen the partner services offered to families and expand space for our
most medically complex children.
The community’s passion in supporting our mission confirms the significance of the
invaluable work that takes place at CDS. We cannot imagine our organization without your
contributions, or the continual support of our partners, board members, and volunteers.
Thank you for making a difference.
With appreciation,
Trevor Gordon

When we noticed that a group of inseparable boys loved coming to
CDS, we asked their mom, Lucinda Stampe to tell their story. Lucinda and Dave Stampe married in 1995. She worked in a special
needs group home, while he worked for a disabled gentleman in
Tennessee. Through their career experience, they found their
love of caring for those with developmental delays and decided
to adopt a special needs child. After searching through an
agency, they were introduced to two autistic brothers, Joshua
and Brian, who needed a loving home. Without hesitation,
Lucinda and Dave expanded their family and welcomed the
boys into their lives.
Shortly thereafter, the couple moved to Orangeburg, SC and
found an organization called Family Connection, a statewide
non-profit that links families with special healthcare needs
to resources, support, and education. It was in Orangeburg
where the couple decided to adopt another precious boy, Ren,
who had Cerebral Palsy and suffered from seizures.
The ever-growing family then moved to the Upstate to be closer to
relatives. Through their contacts at Family Connection, they were introduced
to the multiple services at CDS, including Kidnetics.
After a year in the Upstate, Lucinda and Dave were contacted about another child, Jason,
who needed a home. Jason is a non-verbal older child who is missing his 2nd chromosome.
During his adoption process, the family was notified that their newborn grandson, David,
also needed a home. Rather than stop the adoption proceedings of Jason, the family
welcomed both boys with open hearts.
Lucinda and Dave are now the proud parents of five boys, whom they home school. Their
days are filled with lots of activities and travel. The entire Stampe family, including Lucinda’s
sister Cindi and niece Stormi, often go on nature walks, learn about their favorite animals at
the zoo, and take camping trips. Even going to the car wash is a fun adventure!
When one of the boys has an appointment at CDS, the clan packs up for the day to tag
along. They enjoy the activities available such as reading books or watching movies in the
lobby, playing computer games in the library, or interacting with special guests like the
hockey or baseball players, and of course, Santa. Lucinda, herself, enjoys the conversations
with other moms at CDS and discovering new secrets to managing it all. Yet in our eyes,
Lucinda and Dave have already figured out how to take life in strides by enjoying every
precious moment.

We are humbled by what we’ve been able to accomplish together in 2015.
We received a landscaping makeover, a beautiful mural
and a garden, thanks to the Greenville Garden Club and
students from St. Joseph’s Catholic School.
SANDLAPPER Securities hosted a special night at the
hockey game where many of our families participated in
the pre-game festivities.
We revealed a new logo, updated our brochures, and
launched a new website.
CDS was awarded our first ever Best in the Upstate for
Best Child Development Center.
We received two significant funding grants from Greenville
Women Giving and the JL Mann Spirit Week.
We had another successful Eggs Benefit in October with
new members joining our Miracle Maker Society.
• On Friday, May 6th, CDS will be a beneficiary of the Blue Ridge Fest in Pickens, SC.
• Our tutoring program, Outshine, will be offered to our young clients and their
siblings with weekly educational support and incentives for improving or maintaining
strong grades.
• A new Financial Literacy Summer Series will be coming to CDS in June for our staff
and families. Topics will include personal finance, budgeting, banking, retirement,
and trusts for children, among others.
• Our lobby and 2nd floor resource center will be re-designed with the input of Bon
Secours St. Francis to include more educational and interactive toys.

2015 marked fifteen years of providing care, support, and hope to the many families we
touch. Thank you for being part of our success. We couldn’t have done it without you!
