WELCOME TO
SUPANOVA 2015
Welcome to the Supanova Pop
Culture Expo’s April 2015 tour of
Melbourne and the Gold Coast!
It has been a rocket-like beginning to 2015 and we find it amazingly crazy (awesome!)
that we’re already in April. In the immortal word of Keanu Reeves: “Whoa!”
It feels great to once more be able to say, “Welcome to our biggest and best Melbourne
and Gold Coast expos!” Welcome also to our sponsors; Madman, FilmInk (who produce
this Event Programme with us), Domino’s Pizza, Booktopia, Weta, Global Gear and
Timezone, along with EB Games in Melbourne and the Gold Coast Film Festival and QPOW
on the Gold Coast. All add their special flavour to these events and we appreciate their
ongoing support. A sincere thank you to our partners, exhibitors and wonderfully talented
artisans of The Alley. To see so many self-publishing and creative locals producing
international quality product and entertainment is truly fantastic!
sponsors
We’ve worked hard to arrange exclusives and fun stuff for you, and we’ve succeeded
in a big way: the WORLD premiere screening of the first two episodes of Marvel’s
Daredevil, the exclusive screening of the newly represented classic Thunderbirds
Are Go! (followed in Melbourne by a Q&A with Pukeko Pictures and Weta Workshop’s
Richard Taylor), behind the scenes cast and crew panels from new feature film Infini,
exclusive behind the scenes footage from Mad Max: Fury Road and so much more.
We’ve got the most diverse range of guests we’ve ever hosted, and a wonderful line up of
panels and interactive competitions for you to watch or participate in, such as the Madman
National Cosplay Championships, the Timezone Supanova Australian Pinball Championships,
Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron ‘Be The Super Hero’ ultimate showdown (Melbourne)
and the Nippon World Karaoke Grand Prix (Gold Coast) - just to name a few!
We hope you have fun, we’ve had fun getting us here, and thanks again for your everso appreciated support.
Welcome to Supanova 2015 – we hope you have a blast!
Yours in fun,

SUPAFAQS!
How to ensure
you have a blast
at Supanova!
Get the Most out of your Supanova Experience
This Programme has been designed so that everything you’ll need to know about the expo
is at your fingertips including detailed maps, timetables and guest guides. The Information
Desk, ATMs, toilets and parent change rooms are marked on the precinct maps in the centre
of this Programme.
Be Excellent to Each Other
As an all-ages event, Supanova is intended as a friendly and fun place where everyone
can feel included so please be kind to your fellow fans. Harassment in any form will not be
tolerated. Even though it’s a busy convention, we want to create an atmosphere of a big ol’
geek party!
Celebrate Your Inner Hero
Many patrons attend Supanova in costume or cosplay. If you would like to take someone’s
photo, please ask their permission first and be mindful not to block pathways or create a
traffic jam whilst doing so. Supanova encourages a diverse and colourful cosplay community
– everyone deserves equal respect so mind your manners and be kind to one another!
Take Care Out There
Please take good care of yourself, your friends and your belongings. Be sun-smart when
outdoors, and drink plenty of water. Be careful with your possessions – you don’t want to
lose something special you’ve just purchased or had signed.
Where Are Your Kids?
For parents and guardians: as you enter Supanova, agree on a place to meet your child in the
event that they get lost. At Supanova’s Information Desk (see the map on page 28), you can
pick up a Lost Child ID wristband so you can be contacted if your child becomes separated
from you. Children 12 years and under cannot be left unattended. If you need to report a
lost child, please do so at the Information Desk.
Mature Content
Supanova is a family event, but some exhibitors do stock material that is intended for a
mature audience. Please be aware that the language of some celebrities in their panels can
occasionally be “colourful”. Classification ratings for the film and TV screenings are posted in
the relevant theatres, and in the Event Timetable listings where possible.
Volunteers: The Heart and Soul of Supanova
Supanova’s team of friendly volunteers are here to help you. If you have a special access
request (e.g. in Q&A panels or autograph lines) due to a disability or mobility requirement,

STOP
THE PRESS
In running a pop culture expo the size of
Supanova, there’s inevitably last minute
additions, reshuffles and sometimes sadly
cancellations when it comes to guests and
events – right up to the doors being opened!
Be The Marvel Superhero
To celebrate the release of Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron, in
cinemas from April 23, Supanova is giving Melbourne fans a chance to Be The Marvel Super Hero. Recreate the epic battle between Hulk and
the Hulkbuster. Opponents step up, clench their fist and crunch! Challenge
a friend, suit-up or hulk-up to see who will become the ultimate Marvel Super
Hero and be sure to grab a once in a lifetime photo opportunity all in the shadow
of the full scale Hulkbuster suit.
Cancellations
Danai Gurira, who portrays sword-wielding zombie slayer Michonne on
The Walking Dead, has had to cancel her visits to Melbourne and the Gold
Coast due to unforeseen professional commitments. Keep an eye out for Danai’s
exciting upcoming TV and film appearances. Ryan ‘Opie’ Hurst of Sons of Anarchy can also no longer attend Supanova in
Melbourne and the Gold Coast due to unexpected ‘anarchic’ circumstances.
Willa Holland, currently starring on the hit series Arrow, is unable to make it
to Melbourne or the Gold Coast due to an extended filming schedule, and will be
postponing her appearance until June 2015 (Sydney and Perth).

Netflix has launched in Australia and one of the
hottest series to hit the streaming platform is Marvel’s
Daredevil, which follows Matt Murdock, who was
tragically blinded as a boy, and now fights against
injustice as a masked vigilante. Supanova is bringing
you the first two episodes of the series, accompanied
by an introduction from the cast. Those in Melbourne
will be the first to see the episodes, with the exclusive
Saturday screening scheduled 90 minutes before the
series is released on Netflix worldwide.
THUNDERBIRDS ARE GO!
The iconic sixties series has been revamped
as a co-production between ITV Studios and
New Zealand based Pukeko Pictures in association
with the world-famous Weta Workshop
(The Lord of the Rings, Avatar). The first two episodes
of the series featuring everyone’s favourite family of
heroes will screen at Supanova with an introduction
by the cast, and Executive Producer, Richard Taylor,
co-owner of Pukeko Pictures and Weta Workshops,
will participate in a post-screening Q&A in Melbourne.
MAD MAX: FURY ROAD
With the highly anticipated sequel blasting into
cinemas on May 14, two of its creators will give
us the lowdown on the post-apocalyptic actioner.
Mark Sexton storyboarded the film in a small team
as George Miller wrote the script. Greg Van Borssum,
at the other end of production, choreographed the
stunning fights. Hear their stories and catch some
exclusive footage! INFINI
Australian director Shane Abbess (Gabriel) and
select cast members will present footage from
this thought-provoking sci-fi thriller that chronicles
the efforts of a search and rescue team using
slipstream technology to transport themselves
to an off-world mining facility. Their mission is to
save the lone survivor (Daniel MacPherson) of a
biological outbreak.
ARROWHEAD (Melbourne Exclusive)
The cast and crew behind this low-budget but
spectacular slice of sci-fi will be on hand to give
you the lowdown about the upcoming film, which
follows a prisoner of war who becomes stranded
on a desert moon with only an artificial intelligence
system for company (voiced by Shaun Micallef!).
009 RE:CYBORG (M)

22
THE MENKOFF METHOD
(Melbourne Exclusive)
Part spy movie, part anime, part office comedy - and
all heart – this audacious new film from David Parker
follows a young comic book artist (Lachlan Woods)
working in a bank who stands up to sweeping
reforms by a Russian HR consultant (Noah Taylor).
The director and select cast members will be at
Supanova to unveil advance footage from the film
and answer your questions!
To check the times and venues for each of these
panels, see the Event Timetable on Page 24.
Kenji Kamiyama’s feature-length reboot of
Shotaro Ishinomori’s anime series Cyborg
009 unspools close to three decades ago
when nine weaponised cyborgs disappeared
after they were forced to turn on their
creators in the name of justice. But when a
string of terrorist attacks occur in locations
throughout the world, the cyborgs return to
restore order to the globe once more.
To check the full list of screenings at
Supanova, see the AnimeLab Timetable
on the opposite page.

shared interests.
This is also where
you’ll find charity
organisations.
This is where
storytellers of all
kinds can be found.
Whether presented
in comics or graphic
novels, self-published
children’s books or
novels, manga or
mini-comics, it’s all
here – presented by
the creators, writers,
artists and publishers
themselves.
This is where you can
find those those hard
to find collectables
and imports,
interesting and must
have artifacts, and
stuff that just can’t
seem to be found
anywhere else! The
Supa Market fills the
gap between the
large importers and
the lone creators.
AUTOGRAPH&PHOTOOPS
HERE’S HOW IT WORKS
Supanova provides you with the chance to get up close and personal with your favourite Supa-Star guests. Below are
the rules and regulations when it comes to autograph and photo opportunities. See the Quick Guest Guide on Page 32 for
information on pricing, venues and times.
AUTOGRAPHS
1. Purchase a Token for the autograph(s) of the Supa-Star(s) you would like from the Supanova Store. Autograph fee includes a complimentary
print from one of the star’s productions for them to sign (if required). Please review the prints on the nearby photo wall while you are waiting
in the line as they will be available at the guest’s signing table (prints are no longer available at the Supanova Store). Alternatively, you can
supply your own item, one (1) per Token, to be signed. Please make sure that the item is from a production relevant to the guest.* 2. Take
the Token to the Supa-Star Signing Area and queue for your turn. If you have a VIP ticket or special tier ticket with priority queueing, please
identify yourself to the Supanova volunteer looking after the line. 3. Exchange your token for a print from the Supa-Star’s assistant. If you have
your own item, just hand in your token. 4. Enjoy your moment with your favourite Supa-Star, and your newly signed item! 5. Tokens are NOT
REFUNDABLE and deemed void if you do not redeem them during the expo. Consider Tokens as if they’re CASH as they cannot be replaced if
lost or stolen. *Please note some guests sell their autographs directly from their table and don’t require a pre-purchased token. These
guests will be clearly indicated on the Supanova store pricing list, or you can ask any of our friendly Supanova volunteers.
PHOTO-OPS AT ROY’S PHOTOGRAPHY
1. At the Supanova Store, purchase a Token for the photo session(s) with your chosen Supa-Star(s). The photo session time is printed on
the Token you purchase. 2. Set your alarm to remind you prior the session so you don’t forget or miss out. 3. Make sure you line up 15
minutes before your session at Roy’s Photography Studio (near the Supa-Star Signing Area). 4. Hand your Token to the assistant as you
enter the photo studio. 5. Have your photo taken with the Supa-Star! 6. Collect your photo from the table near the photo booth at the
allocated time as indicated by your photo receipt or Roy’s Photo Studio volunteers. 7. Tokens are NOT REFUNDABLE if you do not redeem
them during your nominated photo session. Consider Tokens as if they’re CASH as they cannot be replaced if lost or stolen. Please note
that photo fees do not include an autograph. To get your photo signed, you must have an autograph Token as well (see above).
