SMILEY dissemination workshop was oriented to present
to a wider audience the SMILEY Framework and
YOURTOWN. The meeting was a great success in
audience and wide spreading of activities.
In the meeting participated representatives of UNICT and
PMF. For the meeting an informative poster was
developed and during the meeting the leaflets were
distributed to the participants.
After the meeting very fruitful discussion about current
problems that schools face in the terms of social
awareness, but also ICT usage.

the Szczecin University and
Augusto Gamuzza is Assistant
Professor in Sociology at the University of Catania, Department of Educational Sciences. His current research
interests follow two lines combining sociology of migration and sociology of education.

First SMILEY Dissemination Workshop Italy was held in October 10,
2012 and was addressed to school directors , teachers and
representatives of the world of education interested in learning about
this new methodology. During the meeting, the project team had the
opportunity to expose and appreciate the potential of the model
proposed by the SMILEY project and the public showed great
enthusiasm and involvement. The second event was held on October
16 and was organized with the aim of involving university students in
the world of SMILEY and Your Town. In total about 100 students took
part in the meeting and tested the game showing great interest and

Associated School Activities 2nd Phase
September - October 2012
Associated school activities, one of the basic components of The SMILEY Project, whose first phase was realised in
June were implemented at 20 associated schools with the leadership of 21 referring teachers. The game “Your
Town” was played by about 900 students, Diary Class activities were realised during the classes and as
extracurricular activities.
On the other hand New schools which were willing to participate in the activities were also added to the SMILEY
system and their teachers and students also played and evaluated the SMILEY Methodology and The game.

Dissemination Workshop

SMILEY Kocaeli Dissemination Workshop was realised on 12th of October in Kocaeli International Youth Centre.
Appr. 400 teachers, decision makers from schools of Kocaeli were briefly informed about the project methodology
and activities and then 24 pre-registered volunteer teachers played the game, learned about the SMILEY
pedagogy and school activities in detail.

We operate business-to-business and find most of our social media interactions for Enigma take part on Twitter for Enigma
(businesses aren’t as interested in doing business with us on Facebook). However, our Business Development Manager (who
manages our Twitter account) found that we get more followers on personal social media accounts, and does a lot of speaking
with the many businesses she meets networking via; LinkedIn, Twitter and even Facebook. The Social Media messages we send
out via @enigmaint, therefore also get sent out via Hootsuite on these platforms too (see below). Often, other employees will see
the messages and Re-Tweet / repeat too.

recommended ways in which wording could be improved for both SEO and to attract UK visitors.

We ordered 500 x SMLEY leaflets which arrived this year and since then, we’ve had several out in reception for any
visitors to Enigma to take and read. We’ve also used them in some business / marketing meetings and shown
them to our colleagues.
We also posted these leaflets out to the Press when doing our Press targeting / Press packs in December, with
several other materials (see following Exploitation box).

In addition to this, in end Oct / early Nov we also produced a printed case study for Enigma featuring Project
Smiley and the Your Town game. This has also been used in reception, business meetings, handed out at some
networking events and exhibitions, as well as being posted and emailed (as a pdf) out to Journalists in our Press
targeting.
