We no longer present to you luxury lingerie designer Chantal Thomass, whose capsule collections for
ready-to-wear retailers sell out in a matter of minutes. She has just opened an intimate and charming
hotel in Paris, the Vice Versa. Meet the charming globetrotter...
Virginia Dhello, aka Vee, surfs the web every day and surveys the fashion weeks to uncover the latest
trends and favourites of the fashion world. More than just good advice, the daily posts on her blog ‘Vee
Post’ are must-reads… not to be missed.
Are you more of a hand-carry, trunk, suitcase,
travel bag, backpack or no baggage person?
Are you more of a hand-carry, trunk, suitcase or no
baggage person?
I always take a suitcase, a big suitcase, or even a
trunk. Wherever I go, whether I go away for two days
or two weeks, I always bring everything!
I have three different sizes of suitcases, all of Rimowa,
larger or smaller, depending on the length of my trip: 48
hours, four days or two weeks. Plus a Vuitton trolley bag
dedicated entire to in-flight essentials.
Are you more of a globetrotter or a homebody?
Is your suitcase very organised or a bit of a jumble?
I’m a globetrotter of cities. Those are the trips that
leave me with the most memories. I love ambling
through the streets, the museums, the monuments, and
generally soaking up the urban atmosphere.
I come under the category of organized women so my
suitcase is very tidy with cotton bags for lingerie and
bikinis. All my shoes are put in little plastic bags to
protect my clothes.
Are you more espadrilles or moccasins? Beach
or asphalt?
What are the essentials for your suitcase?
Above all my cotton pajamas from Olatz. My wardrobe,
flat shoes, sandals, heels, sneakers and sports gear. I only
carry books with me, extraordinary biographies about
people such as Diane Arbus, Peggy Guggenheim, Andy
Warhol… Several pairs of sunglasses, a pashmina, a
cardigan, my iPad, tea bags, wipes and an essential oils
spray. And my iPod with Kanye West, Lykke Li, and 80′s
hits that I listen to on the plane whilst reading the entire
international fashion press.
I’m more of a boots and ballet flats kind of girl, for
comfort. They’re more practical for my asphalt-prone
ways, considering my love for cities.
What are your favourite hotels and destinations?
I really like the W hotels in Hong Kong, New York or
Miami. But I also love the Peninsula in Hong Kong,
the Mandria in Miami, the Standard and the Chateau
Marmot in Los Angeles. And of course Shanghai,
Rome and London...

Mountain
Design Hotel
An elegantly designed place in the fresh
mountain air ! If Switzerland is often
synonymous with traditional spirit, it is here
that these traditions are dusted off and given
a modern edge: exposed wood, design lines,
architectural igloos, high altitude and clear open
spaces – the Swiss mountains peaks are the
winter destination to discover.
Brazil is going into overdrive…And with its
appetite for modernity, emerges a desire to define
a new way of life, but not without honouring,
in passing, its modern heritage, the luxuriance
of its landscapes and the natural penchant for
the Bossa Nova!
Enthusiastic, passionate and creative, the sky is
the limit in Brazil…

Recycled woods, gnarled surfaces and extroverted
branches – wood surprises us and plays on all
levels of design.
Whether raw or refined, domesticated or
coloured, wood naturally imbues a living space
with a force that only the finest of materials can
endorse. It goes without saying that logs and
branches have existed since the dawn of time…
which is only another reason to reinterpret their
use. From collectable design pieces to everyday
objects, wood is, as the designer Zoe Ouvrier
(who carves ornate screens) explains, “a flesh that
hides many veins and scars. I love the random
success that comes from working on wood: by
hollowing its veins, and tracing its fingerprints.”
Soft and pliable, wood graciously accommodates.
Better still, it magnifies the gesture, and the
watchful eye of designer or sculptor…

The World of…Elie Saab
Jaime Hayon,
between fantasy and elegance
Marie Le Fort
European royalty, international stars and young actresses in the making, Elie Saab dresses them all with the same
attention and humility. This is a portrait of a man who has built his very own empire, from nothing.
Marie Le Fort & Béatrice Delamotte
The surprising and whimsical Spanish designer Jaime Hayon is part of a new generation of thirtysomethings who have
revolutionised the world of design. He first gained recognition in 2006 with his theatrical collection Showtime, which was
crammed full of complex historical references, but this was not the young man’s first foray into the fiels. He was the founder
and artistic director of design company Fabric by the age of 22, and then left Italy five years later. Since then, he has infused
his inimitable style into numerous collaborations with many major design houses: Gaia & Gino, Baccarat, Metalarte,
Cecotti, Moooi, Established & Sons, Moroso, BD Barcelona and, most recently, Fritz Hansen, Sé Collection, and Bisazza.
His objects are always functional and tend to become instant hits.
The World of… Frédéric Malle
The World of… Thierry Teyssier
Marie Le Fort
The ‘Nose’ and genius perfumer Frederic Malle continues to conquer the olfactive world with his fresh ideas.
For example, his range of Perfume Guns are home fragrances that are dispensed the same way one would fire a revolver.
His scents are created with the same intricacy as characters in a book. A home fragrance diffuser resembles a piece of
minimal cubic art lacquered in red or his Rubber Incense (frankincense rubber), is a sort of high-tech lavender sachet
designed to perfume small volumes such as closets. Who knew that a plate of 100% recyclable fragrant gum,
a mixture of millennium and precious wood, incense and stone, could one day become a highly desirable luxury item?
Béatrice Delamotte
With an atypical creative spirit, Frederic Malle has always been ‘it’. For when choosing to name his house “Editions de Parfums”,
he underlined not only an obvious literary connotation as his way of composing a range, but primarily sought to implement
a working method based on mutual respect by giving the best ‘noses’ of the profession the opportunity to express themselves
without constraint.
It is difficult to control the flow of words from Thierry Teyssier…A born storyteller, he envelops you in his stories, his
tales, and his dreams. Dreams that he puts into practice both in his hotels, in Morocco, Portugal, and soon in Brazil, and in
his pastries. And always with flair.

Melita and Rory fell in love with Cambodia during

would return one day to create a haven of luxury there.
Thus Song Saa Private Island was born, within the
preserved archipelago of Koh Rong. Two unblemished
private islands, connected by a bridge, make up the
resort…‘Song Saa’ holds the poetic meaning of “lovers”
in the Khmer language. Inspired by the ‘Life’ concept
(Learning, Inspiring, Fun and Experience), Song Saa
Private Island offers villas that are either buried in
vegetation, languishing on the beach or perched on
stilts. It is the ideal place for a few days of relaxation
and luxury in between jungle and lagoon, after having
discovered the legendary temples of Angkor Wat.
