The pics on the wall are
autographed photos of the
famous big bands who played
here; Bing Crosby, Count Basie,
Duke Ellington, Harry James,
Frank Sinatra and more. This is
one of the many cherries on top
at the Valleydale.
There’s a huge chandelier in
middle of floor. Six smaller
crystal chandeliers frame it.
There’s also a spinning mirror
ball.
Dressing room area. A restroom and lounging parlor are just to the left of this area.
Great color palette to go with the band’s blue jackets.

Love this bar for the Jack and Doreen scene. This is the original Valley Dale bar on the balcony.
Other features at the Valley Dale Ballroom include 2 authentic radio broadcasting booths on each side
of the stage. A red velvet curtain covers these booths during wedding receptions. But I love the idea
of using them in the montage the band starts to get a little taste of fame.
In the pic below I’m standing inside the radio booth and looking out at dance floor.
Owner Marty Finta was extremely lovely and accommodating.

Several portable platforms for adding various
heights and levels onstage.
There’s a lot of other business going on in
this pic, but this is to give you an idea of
the different levels of the stage. (Note
the stairs.)
This is IN ADDITION to the portable
platforms we could use for the band to
give it a nice interesting visual that’s
indicative of the big band era.
Examples …
This is the men’s room at the Valley Dale. The
sinks are more modern, but the rest of the room
could be workable for our appropriate scenes.
We need two men’s rooms: The Starlight and the
safe bar where Chick orders an Orange Crush and
some rum, then gets hit on.
