ULUWATU
CNN LISTED ULUWATU AS ONE OF THE TOP 3 SURFING DESTINATIONS IN THEIR WORLD ‘GO LIST’
HISTORIC ULUWATU
ULUWATU HAS BEEN ONE OF THE MOST ICONIC SURFING DESTINATIONS
IN THE WORLD FOR OVER 40 YEARS.
ULUWATU TODAY
MORE THAN 500 VISITORS PER DAY
ULUWATU CAVE
PRESENT RESERVOIR FOR ALL LIQUID WASTE
THE PROBLEM
RAW SEWAGE
The only access to the beach and the ocean is through the cave (pictured left).
Having no other access, all visitors pass this pit of raw sewage (pictured right) several metres away.
WATER TESTS
WATER TESTS SHOW DANGEROUS LEVELS OF CONTAMINATION
High levels of COD (chemical oxygen demand), coliform bacteria, nitrates, detergents,
and three times (3x) the threshold for BOD (biological oxygen demand).
SOLUTION
ESRU HAS THE SOLUTION TO THE SEWAGE PROBLEM AT ULUWATU
We have designed a Liquid Waste Management System based on the knowledge
from in-depth surveys conducted of the area.
This system will link all the of the shops, kitchens, and toilets to a central processing tank.
This will rid the area of dangerous liquid waste and noxious smells
OUR PAST ACCOMPLISHMENTS
SOLID WASTE MANGEMENT SYSTEM
In the past, all rubbish was thrown into the ocean or into the ravine.
A mountain of waste formed and began to cause serious health and safety issues.
ESRU addressed the problem and removed 30 tons of waste last year.
SOLID WASTE MANGEMENT SYSTEM
ESRU has since installed a solid waste management system.
Rubbish is collected daily, transported and stored in our concrete bins.
ECOBALI company then collects the rubbish for recycling three (3) times per week.
PROJECTED COSTS
LIQUID AND SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT
 The liquid waste processing tank required will cost USD $15,000.
 Tank housing, central plumbing link, and individual grease traps, will cost
a further $25,000.
 Maintenance and repair costs to liquid waste system estimated at
USD $500 per month
 Continued funding of solid waste management system USD $4,500 per year.
 Current fundraising goal is USD $50,000.00
HELP
WHERE YOU CAN HELP ESRU
 Whilst we have raised over $12,000 through benefits, auctions and donations,
we need help to reach our fundraising goal.

system.
 Networking and assistance connecting ESRU to reputable and established
contractors
 Ongoing invested support, interest and donations.
WHY
YOU SHOULD HELP ESRU
 There is a legitimate need and we have a direct and practical solution.
 Results will be obvious and people will notice; there will be good press and
good PR for our supporters.
