Umpiring Information
The 2011 CWL season will be open to the first 15 umpires who sign up to
participate. This second year of the CWL will be comprised of 4-6 teams
with most players ranging from ages 22-27. All games will be played at
Palm Springs Stadium, the former Spring Training home of the Angels.
Participating umpires have a variety of dates and time periods to choose
from to help create the most convenient schedule possible. The leagues
lead umpiring instructor will be Lance Schoenwald, one of two umpiring assigners for both the American Association and the Can-Am Baseball League.
Lance’s experience as a professional umpire and instructor along with his
position with the American Association and Can-Am Baseball Leagues make
him the perfect person to teach, evaluate and scout perspective umpires
for professional baseball.
In addition to Lance, the CWL will also be offering umpires an exclusive opportunity to learn from Hunter Wendelstedt and Brent Rice of the world
renowned Wendelstedt Umpiring School.

Fees with Wendelstedt Umpire Training:
- $1,500 (full season) January 20 - February20 (Payment
plan available for full season)
- $900 (2 1/2 week session) February 3 - February 20
- $750 (1 1/2 week session) February 10 - February 20
- $700 (1 week session) February 3 - February 10
Fees without Wendelstedt Umpire Training:
- $700 (2 week session) January 20 - February 3
- $500 (1 week session) January 27 - February 3
- $400 (1 week session) January 20 - January 27
Fees Cover:
- Lodging from report date - exit date
- Two meals per day - Breakfast at hotel and 31 meal
vouchers for various restaurants throughout Palm
Springs. Pre-game snacks will be sandwiches and granola
bars
- Local transportation to and from stadium throughout
session
- Official league umpiring hat
- Use of in-stadium umpires locker room (limited size)
- League will provide on-site laundry service
- Umpires are responsible for their own gear and uniforms
- Umpires are responsible for their own transportation to
and from Palm Springs
