III Torneo Internacional de balonmano Ciudad Imperial
Dear Handball Friends,
Balonmano Ciudad Imperial proudly presents to you and to your club the third edition of the International Handball
Tournament Ciudad Imperial. In this third event we want to go international, as we have the feeling our medieval city
(Toledo) can display much more than just a sports’ experience for those who love handball.
Dates & number of matches
This edition will be held from June 26th to June 29th,
with 5 matches guaranteed for every participating team.
Every match will have a duration of 30 minutes, divided in 2 halves of 15 minutes, except for the semifinals
onwards, which will last for 40 minutes (2 halves of 20
minutes). Under 12 will play only 30 minutes’ matches
during the entire tournament.
Categories
The participating categories in this edition will be:
U12 (mixed category, unless there are enough teams)
(Born 02 and 03)
Girls U14 (Born 00 and 01)
Boys U14 (Born 00 and 01)
Girls U16 (Born 98 and 99)
Boys U16 (Born 98 and 99)
Girls U18 (Born 96 and 97)
Boys U18 (Born 96 and 97)
TROPHIES
Per category
The winning team in each category will receive as a trophy a typical Toledo Steel Sword, forged under the same
antique method from the Middle Ages.
Pe r club
Also, all clubs taking part with at least 3 teams taking
part will participate in the Clubs Competition, where
the winning club will receive (on loan) the “Big Imperial
Sword”. This sword will have to be sent back to Toledo
the following year or brought back by the winning club
to be “up for grabs” again.
A club winning this precious trophy 3 consecutive or 5
alternative times will keep it for good!!
AC C OM M ODAT ION
We offer a wide range of accommodations
for the visiting teams, from youth hostels to
4 * hotels in order to cover all budgets.
PRICES
There is a fee of 100 € for every team taking
part in the tournament at the moment of
the inscription, which will also cover for
damages in hotels etc. (the money will be
given back at the end of the tournament).
The total amount to be paid per person will
be between 148 € and 250 €, depending on
the chosen lodging (from youth hostels to
4* hotels). If no accommodation or meals
are required from the organisation, every
participant will deposit 65 €.
Extension nights from 25 € to 65 € each one, if required,
and depending on the staying.
Also a 30 € inscription fee for every team will need to be
paid in advance, Please be aware no teams will be considered as registered in the tournament unless the 130 €
have been deposited,
This price includes:
Accommodation (including breakfast) for three nights.
All Meals (from Thursday night to Sunday afternoon).
Indoor handball courts, matches and referring.
Free transportation inside the city of Toledo.
Toledo public Swimming Pools free pass (high temperatures in June).
Medical insurance (during the celebration of the matches).
Vouchers for special rates in shops, museums, guided city
tours, etc…
T R A N S P O RTAT I O N
Our Tournament offers free transportation to those
players and coaches inside the city of Toledo (between
handball courts, hotels and meals) with the credential
they will be given. Also, should you require it, selected
bus services can be provided to the clubs requesting it for
different purposes (airport transfers, excursions, etc) at
preferential rates.
SIGHTSEEING
The city of Toledo, conquered by the Romans in S. II BC
and declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986,
is a fantastic venue to enjoy your favourite sport at the
time you step back in time while visiting a capital where
by centuries Muslims, Jews and Christians coexisted.
Toledo is also known as “The Imperial City”, as it was
the capital of the Spanish Empire at different stages until
1560. As a proof of that you can, between matches, wander around the convoluted and narrow streets in search
of its magnificent monuments, finding that perfect corner for a picture, a terrace where you can enjoy a drink or
just that place to find yourself.
OTHERS
Toledo is only one step away from Madrid (50 minutes
away by road and 25 by fast train), offering all sort of amenities to our visitors, sportsmen and fans. World known

the Warner Amusement Park http://www.parquewarner.
com/ or the Madrid Zoo www.zoomadrid.com are only
some indications of what to do if you want to make a one
day excursion.
