Packets--Fabric Painting
Please note: Some of the designs in the fabric-painting packets in this catalog were painted with DEKA
Permanent Fabric Paint, a water-based, dye-type product. Sadly, this paint is no longer available in the
United States. Therefore, these packets now contain a conversion chart with suggested conversions to
DecoArt SoSoft Fabric Acrylics. New designs are painted with DecoArt SoSoft Fabric Acrylics.

fabric items. Equally pretty on the red or green gingham bordered towels
or the plaid bordered towels on page 30, too.

Note: you may already have these designs if you have my early books,
though I’ve changed them a bit here and enlarged them. Also, the book
instructions were more brief and written for the DEKA paints.

This sham has been discontinued, but three pretty substitutes are available—double
hemstitch border with Swiss-dot embroidery— #F731 on page28, #F-781 on page
29, and the gorgeous #F-722, page 28 .

These little cocktail napkins are a perfect “practice” surface, and can be
used in many ways. Easily made into sachets (no sewing!), they might also
line a tiny basket for a special hostess gift (homemade jam?), be used as a
“doily” under a pretty candle, etc.

Cocktail Napkins

IDEA! To make a sachet from any cocktail napkin with hemstitching, such as #F-550, cut two
pieces of thin craft batting the size of the solid area in the center of the napkin. Hand-sew 3 sides
near the edge, then fill with a favorite potpourri, and sew the 4th side to close.
Sandwich the pouch between two napkins—one painted, one unpainted, and “sew” the two
napkins together by weaving narrow ribbon in and out of the hemstitching with a tapestry needle,
tying a bow in a corner where the ends of the ribbon meet.
