STANDARDS & TESTING
The ‘Lighting Team’ at Tamlite Lighting play
an important role in developing products that
combine quality, value and reliability. The Technical
Department at Telford supports this effort and is
capable of carrying out all the necessary tests for CE
compliance as well as photometric testing. This facility
allows Tamlite Lighting a higher degree of flexibility
in the market place than you would normally expect
from one of the UK’s largest manufacturers. Our

All Tamlite Lighting products
carry the ‘CE’ mark. The CE
mark signifies that a product
conforms to the relevant
EEC directives and safety requirments
for that product.
Tamlite Lighting also have obligations
under the Consumer Protection Act
1987. This requires that any electrical
appliance made available for sale is
safe. By providing their own in-house
testing facilities Tamlite Lighting can self
certify all of our products on this basis.
However, 3rd party certification, or
approval is also available for some of
our products and these can be provided
upon request.
WEEE

In August 2005 the Waste of Electrical
& Electronic Equipment directive
(EU Directive 2002/96) was adopted
into UK law. The Directive sets
requirements relating to criteria for the
collection, treatment, recycling and
recovery of WEEE. Private householders
are to be able to return complete WEEE
without charge.
The Directive is now UK law and its
initial requirements and obligations
came into effect from 13 August 2005
onwards. However, some specific
actions, e.g. producer registration and
reporting of data on equipment placed
on the market, was from June 2005
onwards. Any charges or levies that
were imposed as a result of this directive
finally came into effect in 2007 when
the necessary collection and recycling
bodies were established.
Tamlite Lighting (W)EEE producer
registration number: WEE/FG0077UT
The WEEE Regulations require producers
to ensure that equipment which they
put into the UK market after 13 August
2005 is marked with the crossed out
wheeled bin symbol. In addition to the
crossed out wheeled bin symbol (shown
left), the Directive requires producers
to ensure that products put on the
UK market after 13 August 2005 are
marked (i) to show that they were put
into the market after that date; and (ii)
to identify the producer. This symbol
also indicates that this product must not
be disposed of within the normal waste
stream and should be recycled at the
end of life.
All Tamlite Lighting Products carry this
marking from August 2005 on either
luminaire body, packaging and/or
installation data sheets.
