Caribbean Xpress proudly sponsors “Confident U” workshop launches
Bassant Motorsports
Bassant Motorsports kicked off the
‘2012 CASC-OR race season to
defend their ‘2011 GT-6 crown in fine
style by winning all three 20 minute
GT-6 Sprints Championship races.
Dereck Bassant in the # 203 Nissan
Sentra is now 11th overall and first in
class towards the championships.
There are 6 race weekends remaining with Shannonville Motorsports
Park being the next race(s) on May
26/27, 2012.
Also, Andrew Elliott, Caribbean
based, contested the GT Challenge in
partnership with Mike Holder in their
# 47 Honda Prelude in the One Hour
race by finishing 6th in the GT-5 class.
Whereas, David Diedrick, team owner
of Mazdees Performance, a Canadian
based Jamaican have two separate
entries in the GT Challenge.
The first entry, in the GT-3 class,
# 227 Nissan Sentra Spec V driven
by Joe DeMarco finished 5th in class
and the # 228 Mazda Miata driven by
Gary Browne took the class win. The
opening weekend was filled with lots
of excitement including great weather
but, also, saw its’ share of crashes
and cars retiring due to mechanical
miscues, blown engines etc.
If the opening weekend is any indication of what is to come for the Caribbean driver(s) and team owner(s)
then, it should be an exceptional
season. We urge any spectator(s)
and/or would-be racer(s) to attend a
few events throughout the season to
support the CASC-OR race series
Dereck Bassant in the winner’s circle
especially to lend your support to the
teams mentioned.
Tickets to any of the remaining races
can be obtained from Bassant Motorsports free of charge. Otherwise, it will
be $ 15.00 at the Gates.
Bassant Motorsports would like to
thank its sponsors: Caribbean Xpress,
inVIBE Gear, Creative Candy Entertainment, CoburnPhotography.ca, and
Mazdees Performance.
David Diedrick, Mazdees Performance is arguably the best racer from
the Caribbean and his expertise and
technical support towards this young
race team of Bassant Motorsports is
invaluable! We certainly hope to see
David Diedrick get into any race car
especially his fire breathing Mazda
RX-7 to contest any of the listed races
for this season.
The Caribbean Xpress would like to
wish all driver(s) and team(s) a successful season especially the ones
from the Caribbean. Do us proud!
