Goafesta 2012
Goafesta was a spectacular night! We had over 200
members and guests join us for a night filled with
culture, good food, great laughs and dancing at the
Maharaja Banquet Hall! The theme “Music Through
the Ages: Goan to Edmontonian” was felt throughout
the night but no more so than through the cultural
performances. The performances brought us from
our cultural past to where we reside today as
Edmontonians. Performances included “Lal Meri
Pat– Dhama Dhum Mukalandar,” a Pakistani Folk
Song ,“Rangeelo Maro Dholna,” an Indian Folk Song
and “Auraddi,” a famous Konkani Song. The
performances continued with dances including two
Goan dances, “Goencho Mando” and “Goa Amchem”.
This followed with dancing through the ages with
Waltz, Foxtrot, Cha-Cha, Twist, Jive and Hip-Hop
dances. Lastly, we were brought to Edmonton with a
Country Line Dance. Almost all the acts were
performed and choreographed by our own EGA
members! The night continued until the late hours
with fabulous music provided by Joe Thomas and
Christina Misquitta. Special thanks to Mathias
Silveira for being such a great Master of Ceremonies
for the evening festivities. Thank you to everyone
that helped with setting up for the event, all the
performers and thanks to everyone that attended!
We loved hearing all your great comments! We
know you enjoyed yourselves as much as we did.
Thank you to all our Goafesta Performers, Musicians and Choreographers. We know it takes
commitment and time out of your busy schedules to put performances together. We
appreciate all your hard work and your presentations were fantastic! Thank you for
showing us the meaning of being a Goan community.

who came out and made this event a "big success".
As for the most awaited event of the year, Goafest; we generated a net profit of $2328.10. Special

In terms of our memberships, we have had a significant rise in new memberships this year. We

Lastly, I would personally like to take the opportunity to thank you individually for an awesome year.
Without you all it would have been just another year. I hope you all enjoyed the events that the
