Dara Horn’s spellbinding novel intertwines stories from Genesis, medieval philosophy,
and the digital frontier. The story weaves the work of a software prodigy with the
discovery, a century earlier, of a medieval archive hidden in a Cairo synagogue. What
is revealed is a world where nothing is ever forgotten. Ms. Horn was recognized by
Granta magazine as one of the “Best Young American Novelists” and is also a winner of two National Jewish Book Awards.

The Golem and
the Jinni: A Novel
In her debut novel, The Golem and the Jinni, Helene Wecker
creates an immigrant tale that combines elements of Jewish
and Arab folk mythology, and uses the characters of two
supernatural creatures who arrive separately in New York in
1899. These mythical beings from otherwise clashing cultures
not only coexist, but also come to rely upon one another in
order to exist at all. This is an Amazon Best Book of 2013 and
was also featured in The New York Times Book Review.
Tomorrow There
Will Be Apricots
Tomorrow There Will Be Apricots is a compelling story
about accepting the people we have to love and the people
we choose to love, the families we’re given and the families
we make. Jessica Soffer weaves together the lives of two
very different women adrift in New York. Each one yearns for
love, acceptance and forgiveness and must reckon with the
past, the future, and the truth—whatever it might be.

The Sons of Abraham is an example of a genuine alliance
between Rabbi Marc Schneier and Imam Shamsi Ali. Despite
the anti-Muslim and anti-Semitic prejudices they were exposed to in their youth, these two
men forged a lasting friendship in the tumultuous decade following the attacks of 9/11.
They share their vision of how Jews and Muslims can work to find common ground, analyze some of the religious texts that
divide—but can also unite, and address the pressing issues of the day, such as why Jews should be concerned about
Islamophobia and why Muslims should care about anti-Semitism.

Boys of Steel: The Creators of Superman
Celebrating the 150th Anniversary of the Civil War
Nearly seventy-five years after World War II, a contentious
debate lingers over whether Franklin Delano Roosevelt turned
his back on the Jews of Hitler’s Europe. Defenders claim that
FDR saved millions of potential victims by defeating Nazi
Germany. Others accuse him of keeping America’s gates
closed to Jewish refugees and failing to bomb Auschwitz’s
gas chambers. The author uses many new primary sources to
present an extensive examination of this debate. Featured in
The New York Times Sunday Book Review.

We Called Him Rabbi Abraham:
Lincoln and American Jewry
Dr. Gary P. Zola, Executive Director of the American Jewish Archives, explores the
characteristics that inspired Jews to embrace President Lincoln as a man with a
“Jewish soul.” Lincoln had become a spiritual and moral kinsman of the Jews not
only for his swift response to General Grant’s proclamation, but also for the1861
appointment of the first rabbi to Army chaplaincy.

The Interestings: A Novel
A compelling coming of age story about five privileged kids, is also a pitchperfect tale about a particular generation and the era that spawned it. Wolitzer
follows a group of teenagers who meet at an artsy summer camp in 1974 and
survive as friends through the competitions and realities of growing up. How the friends circle each
other, come together and break apart, provides numerous hilarious scenes and plenty of heartbreaking
ones, too. An Amazon Best Book, featured in The New York Times and an Oprah Summer Pick.
