by the efficient use of resources.
We welcome cooperative efforts with likeminded organizations for the advancement
of the Kingdom of God.

WELCOME TO EMBARK!
1.05
OPENING
FEC and Northwoods Community Church
welcome you to Peoria, Illinois! Thank you
for joining us as we celebrate 150 years of
the Fellowship of Evangelical Churches.
Throughout the history of FEC, our denomination has
remained committed to obeying the Great Commandment
and fulfilling the Great Commission through the
establishment of reproducing churches worldwide. To reflect
on this heritage while celebrating our journey into a future
of continued obedience, we chose the theme EMBARK for
our 2015 annual convention. As we chart our course and set
sail toward the ministry opportunities ahead of us, our desire
is that the speakers, worship, and celebration of EMBARK
will send us off on a positive note. Some of the highlights
for our time together will include:
Friday and Saturday sessions featuring knowledgeable
and inspiring speakers:
SCOT MCKNIGHT will be speaking about the heritage
of FEC and the Anabaptist focus on the local church.
He will also explain the local church’s significance as
God’s hands and feet to the world.
GEOFF SURRATT will be talking about the importance
of church multiplication through the lens of the book
of Acts.
SKYE JETHANI will be discussing how the millennial
generation’s negative view of large institutions combined
with their entrepreneurial mindset to affect
their opinion of the church.
JAY KESLER will be wrapping up EMBARK 2015 by
charging us as ministry leaders to hold tightly to the
promise in 2 Timothy 2:2 that says “Jesus is the same
yesterday, today, and forever.” Although the future
may be uncertain, we can rest in the knowledge that
God is unchanging.

BATON PASSING RELATIONSHIPS
AUTHOR: DWIGHT ROBERTSON
Guest Speaker
This book explains how you can be a great "Kingdom
relay team member" today...right now by encouraging,
empowering, and equipping you to pass on what God has
already poured into your life.

CHANGED BY THE KING’S PRESENCE
AUTHOR: KURT LITWILLER
Senior Pastor, Boynton Mennonite Church, Hopedale, IL
All too often, Christians come into God’s presence with no
awe or wonder of who He is. We act as if God is lucky that
we take time to spend with Him. But in reality, it is always
our privilege to come before Him. We wouldn’t even have
the honor of coming before Him if it wasn’t for what Jesus
had done for us on the cross. Jesus’ death on the cross is
our invitation to come into His presence. The cross of Christ
changes our lives, and it changes the way we enter His
presence. The reader will learn from various Bible characters
the way that we should and shouldn’t approach a king.
Jesus is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords—we should
never leave His presence the same way we came. Are you
ready to meet this King?

CONSUMING CHRIST
AUTHOR: MATT BOYERS
Senior Pastor, Crossroads Evangelical Church, Wauseon, OH
Scripture teaches that spiritual feeding is essential for
salvation and life. Jesus said, “Unless you eat the flesh
of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life
8
in you…so the one who feeds on me will live because of
me” – John 6:53, 57. Spiritual transformation, health and
vitality come from feeding on Jesus. If we confess Jesus
with our mouth but don’t feed on him with our heart
we’ll live spiritually malnourished lives. Jesus doesn’t just
provide nourishment but was himself broken and poured
out to be our nourishment. Through feeding on the broken
and poured out Jesus, the life of Christ forms and shapes
within the believer, “Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my
blood remains in me, and I in Him” – John 6:56. Consistent
devotional feeding on Jesus nourishes the internal formation
of the life of Christ. David’s psalms provide a pattern of
feeding on Jesus that leads to spiritual transformation – a
recipe for spiritual growth and internal formation of the
life of Christ. David’s instructive example includes spiritual
“feeding activities” that are presented in this book – ponder
God, pour out the soul, petition the fullness of the Holy
Spirit and praise. The internal formation of the life of Christ
in the believer grows and overflows to others in the body
and through mission to the world. The purpose of this
book is to equip believers to feed on Jesus until Christ is
fully formed in and overflows from them in ministry to one
another and in mission to the world.

HUMBLE KING TO CONQUERING KING;
THE WEEK THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING
AUTHOR: KURT LITWILLER
Senior Pastor, Boynton Mennonite Church, Hopedale, IL
There are some things that happen that can change the
entire course of our lives. A decision we make one week can
have implications twenty years later. Well, Jesus had a week
that had eternal implications. Not for Him, but for us. He
had an eternal life waiting for Him, whether He went to the
cross or not, but His decisions were made because He was
thinking about us. Jesus started out this particularly glorious
week as a humble King riding into Jerusalem on a donkey,
but by the end of the week, He was standing over the grave

as the King who conquered death. He confirms that He
is the King above all Kings! During that week, Jesus had
many ways He could have escaped the cross. He could have
bypassed the cross and went straight to the throne, but He
chose the harder path so He could take us to be with Him.
Embracing “this week” will change your life!

LIVING OUT THE CALLED LIFE;
RUNNING GOD’S RACE
AUTHOR: KURT LITWILLER
Senior Pastor, Boynton Mennonite Church, Hopedale, IL
Many people say they believe in God, but does that truly
change the way they live their lives? Some people today say
10
they are Christians, but they do not act like they are. Once
we receive Jesus Christ as our Lord, we are called to live a
certain way. In Ephesians 4:1, Paul says, “…live a life worthy
of the calling you have received.” We cannot continue to
live for ourselves and gratify our sinful natures—instead,
we need to live sold out lives for God! The Bible often talks
about how our life is a race. If we want to win the prize, we
need to persevere in tough times and compete by the rules.
God’s Word tells us how we should run our race here on this
earth. We need to run God’s race if we want to receive the
reward that God has for us.

NEW COVENANT LIVING;
RELEASED TO LIVE BY THE SPIRIT
AUTHOR: KURT LITWILLER
Senior Pastor, Boynton Mennonite Church, Hopedale, IL
God created us to have a relationship with Him, but
unfortunately man sinned which separated us from God.
Then God told Abraham that he was going to have a
child, and in that way, He was going to call Abraham’s
descendants back into a relationship with Him. God gave
His people, the Israelites, the law for them to enter into a
covenant relationship with Him. Again and again, Israel could
not hold up their end of the covenant and live according to
God’s Holy standards. Because of God’s great for us, He sent
us His Son. Jesus came down to die upon the cross which
ushered in a new covenant relationship between God and
man. We now come to God through the new covenant of
His blood. Read what the Apostle Paul meant when he said,
“But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under law.”

OPEN THE FLOOD GATES: WELCOMING
GRIEF INTO OUR SEASON OF LOSS
AUTHOR: CHERYL CECIL
FEC Credentialed Retired Personnel
Who wouldn’t agree that after the death of a loved one it’s
tough – really tough – to see the empty crib, the unmoved
slippers by the back door, the coffee mug without fresh
lipstick on it, or the computer no longer booted up? Perhaps
we’re tempted to deny the jagged edges of emotion and
just get back to what we were doing before death sorely
interrupted us. And in a crazy crowded schedule it’s easy
to give grief a swift kick, or more politely, a cold shoulder.
In other words, “Quit bugging us!” But, wait! Not so fast!
Open The Flood Gates introduces you anew to grief, to
see it as a friend to help you process your loss when death
breaks into your family circle, community of faith,
or connection of friends.

WHAT DOES THE YOUNG

OUTREACH SEMINAR

Dave Zapf
Every church needs a strategy
when it comes to capturing
the attention of young families
in your community. Join us as
Sherry Surratt, CEO of Mothers
of Preschoolers (MOPS) shares
current research about young
families and specifically, the young
millennial mom. She’ll share MOPS
strategy in meeting the needs
of these young moms, whether
they already attend or have never
walked through your front door
and how MOPS encourages every
mom to become the wife, mom
and leader that God created her
to be.
In fulfilling the Great Commission,
it is important not to overlook the
people right outside your door.
By developing strong community
outreach ministries, we can impact
our communities for Christ and
share His love with our neighbors.
This seminar will be led by three
FEC ministry leaders that have
developed strong community
outreach programs and will
provide an overview of the
principles, thought processes,
and rationale behind the ways
their ministries were developed.

SMALL GROUPS SEMINAR

In the fast-evolving world of
communication, it can be difficult
to know the best way to transmit
information to your church body
— let alone your community.
Creating a marketing strategy
that includes social media, print
materials, and imagery can help
you keep your church informed
and, in turn, make your ministries
more effective.
It is widely acknowledged that
small groups are the building
blocks of churches; however,
there are a variety of ways to
organize, run, and integrate small
groups into a local church. This
seminar will feature three FEC
ministry leaders that each have a
unique take on small groups, and
will provide an overview of the
principles, thought processes, and
rationale behind the way small
groups fit into the local church as
a whole.

CHRISTIAN SERVICE
FOUNDATION REPORT
The CHRISTIAN SERVICE FOUNDATION had another
successful year. We praise God for His provision. Total
assets grew by more than a half million dollars to $24.9
million and the CSF Fund Balance remained at $2.8
million, after making some significant gifts to FEC
organizations. Both the total assets and Fund Balance are
high-water marks for CSF.

FEC SUPPORT
CSF is privileged to support the ministries and people of
FEC. This year more than $79,500 was distributed from
the CSF Tithe Account to FEC organizations and almost
$46,000 was given out in college scholarships to FEC
students. In addition, $31,800 was provided to the FEC
denominational budget. Furthermore, the CSF Board
set aside $50,000 to cover potential church-plant loan
defaults which allowed CSF to leverage up to $500,000
of its funds to church plants, with a loan limit of $50,000
per church plant. In total, as a result of God’s blessing, CSF
provided FEC and its people with more than $207,000.
Throughout the past year, CSF worked with FEC to develop
a new program that will help FEC finance church plants.
We are excited about being able to help FEC churches at
a much earlier stage of development. The Wave, in Deshler,
OH, was CSF’s first loan to a church plant. CSF’s funds
were added to funds from FEC, and other supporters of
The Wave, to launch the church – including the purchase
of equipment and materials.
INVESTMENTS
CSF offers a fantastic way for churches and parents to
teach their children purposeful and responsible investing
by utilizing their money to build the physical Kingdom of
God with their savings, while earning an exceptional return.
CSF offers Youth Stewardship investments that currently
pay 2% annual interest. Investments can be opened with
a minimum of $10. Parents can invest right alongside their
children and currently earn between 1.25% and 2.25%
for 1-3 year investments. Contact the CSF office for an
Investment Circular.
LOANS
The year of 2014-2015 was a quiet one when it came to
46
issuing new loans. Loans were made to Miracle Camp and
Retreat Center (MI), Wave Church (OH) and Life Church of
Lorain County (OH). Thank you, investors, for making this
work possible.
CSF maintained the 28 states that CSF is registered in to
accept investments. Al Rupp, the previous president of
CSF, achieved the 28 state registration level, in which CSF
is registered. Previously, CSF had registered 17 states in
2011, seven in 2010, four in 2009 and two in 2008.
ANNUAL DINNER
Last fall, CSF hosted its celebratory annual dinner at
Archbold Evangelical Church in Archbold, OH. Guests
enjoyed a meal, fellowship, a brief informational session
and a tour of the recently renovated building. This year, the
2015 celebratory dinner will be hosted at Pine Hills Church
in Fort Wayne, IN, on Friday, October 9, at 6:30 p.m. We
hope that you can join us for an enjoyable night, complete
with a complimentary meal and brief program. This event
will be a great opportunity to see PHC’s facility and learn
more about great opportunities with CSF. Be sure to invite
your FEC friends and family to hear about the work that
CSF is doing.

COMMUNICATION
We were very excited to introduce a new website in the
summer of 2014. The site includes a historical review
of CSF leadership since its inception in 1949, investor
information, church loan information, CSF church
representatives, FEC church loan projects, volunteer
projects and recommended building resources. The
Volunteer Projects area is a new centralized place for
churches to list projects for which they need assistance.
The Resources page may be helpful if a new church
building or addition is being planned. The resources listed
have been utilized by FEC churches. Please be sure to visit
our new website, www.christianservicefoundation.org,
and consider volunteering for a church project or listing
yourself or your team to assist churches.
CSF is now on Facebook! This is a great way to receive
regular updates, announcements, and information from

WILLS, BEQUESTS & PLANNED GIVING
Did you know that 70% of the people in the U.S. do not
have a will? One of CSF’s focuses during 2015 is the
area of wills, bequests and planned giving. There is an
abundance of information on the CSF website to assist
people in estate planning, including instructional videos
and calculators, regular updates from Washington DC,
and Savvy Living tips. This area should be a regular go-to
site for helpful financial and smart living information. We
have also begun offering seminars on wills, bequests, and
planned giving at FEC churches. We held a seminar at
Upland Community Church (Upland, IN) last spring and
plan to present a seminar at Harrisonville Community
Church (Harrisonville, MO) this coming September.
Please contact CSF if you’d like to schedule a seminar at
your church. Lastly, CSF sends an extremely helpful and
informational weekly e-Newsletter, full of helpful tips and
articles. Contact the CSF office if you would like to receive
the eNewsletter; and be sure to recommend it to your
friends and family too!
BOARD OF DIRECTORS & STAFF
CSF has been blessed with a very talented and committed
Board of Directors and appreciates the excellent service
of all of its board members. This past spring, CSF board
member, Ron Sutherland (Upland, IN), completed his
service. A list of all the current Board members and their
biographies can be found on the CSF website,
www.christianservicefoundation.org.
CSF’s accountant, Linda Burton, has done an outstanding
job serving the investors, president, and Board of
Directors while managing the financial side of Christian
Service Foundation.
ENDOWMENT FUND
June, 1, 2015 was the launch date of CSF’s first
Endowment Fund. This fund is designed to provide
48
consistent and perpetual funding for student scholarships
and other FEC projects.
It is a joy to see CSF investors catch the vision and support
the mission of CSF, knowing that they are participating
in expanding the ministries of God’s Kingdom through
FEC while receiving excellent rates of return on their
investments. If you are not a current CSF Investor, will you
join us this year?
Included with this written report are the unaudited Balance
Sheet and the Income Statement for fiscal year 2015.
To God be the glory for these accomplishments.
Respectfully submitted,

LIFECHANGE CAMP &
RETREAT CENTER REPORT
The past year has once again been filled with challenge,
progress, and excitement as we’ve seen the Lord work to
further His Kingdom. After a successful summer of camps,
resulting in numerous salvation decisions and baptisms in
our new swimming pool, we took two van loads of senior
high students to Washington, IL to assist in tornado clean
up. This effort made it possible to serve others faithfully
and connect our group more deeply with students from
several of our FEC churches in the Washington area. Both
experiences were very positive and rewarding.

& CHURCHES
The retreat season brought on some busy months of
hosting retreat groups from around Missouri. Nearly every
weekend from September 1 through Thanksgiving was
booked full. In the midst of all this we also finished LakeView
Hall, our newest retreat facility. We had made a commitment
to a group from Kansas City that we would have the facility
ready for their use by October 1; by the grace of God, we
were able to reach that goal. With LakeView in place, we
can now host two groups at a time – which is exactly what
happened several times during the fall season.
LakeView by its very name demands a “lake view” and the
very dry season had dropped our lake level dangerously
low. However, as God would have it, two generous donors
stepped up and provided a new well, just for the purpose
of refilling our lake and keeping it full. Then, God, ever
surprising in His ways, also provided a wet fall season and
a super wet spring season – filling the lake to overflowing,
rendering the well unnecessary for the moment.
We rounded out the year with two special events in
December. One was an open house of our camp facilities
as a part of a tour of homes sponsored by a local literary
society. The following day, we had a grand opening and
dedication for LakeView Hall. The weather was beautiful
for both events and more than 150 people attended.
The new year brought more retreat groups and we learned
that the Methodist Churches of Missouri were closing down
many of their camp facilities. This ended up bringing in
Methodist tour groups to see what LifeChange Camp had to
offer, resulting in two weeks of rental camps for this summer.
52
We also had work teams from Ohio and Illinois that came
to assist with the continued building process. They added
their willing hands to building our new cook’s cabin and
improving our swimming pool. A waterslide, waterfall, rock
gardens, and enlarged deck for sitting and sunning were
added – making our pool truly something extraordinary.
As we moved toward summer camp this year, we were
again wondering how the Lord would meet our staffing
needs. He has always been faithful in the past, and we
believed He would be faithful again. AND HE WAS. Our
staff came together; a group of some of the most unlikely
to ever meet, yet they have grown into a family that truly
loves each other, their campers, and most of all, the Lord.
This year, under our theme of “Deployed – Called, Equipped,
Sent” (Matt. 10:1-5), our camps have filled up to “waiting list”
status quicker than ever before, demanding that we expand
our weeks next year.

Wonderful volunteers also continue to come to LifeChange
Camp. This year, volunteers from Missouri, Kansas,
Minnesota, and Iowa came to be a part of the ministry.
R.O.A.M. (RVers On A Mission) is a Nazarene ministry that,
for years, has only gone to Nazarene ministries to work. This
year, LifeChange Camp has been named as the first NonNazarene ministry to be included in the R.O.A.M listing of
approved work sites. Even as I was writing this report, one of
those ROAMers came in to find out what the next task was.
Lives continue to be impacted and changed here as we
prayerfully and faithfully work hard at trusting and obeying.
We are still seeking to add a kitchen manager and a facilities
manager to our staff, but God is at work on both of these
fronts. His people are primed, ready, and waiting for just the
right time.
Thank you to FEC for the wonderful partnership we enjoy.
In HIS service,
Bill and Carol Anderson

MIRACLE CAMP &
RETREAT CENTER REPORT
50 YEARS OF MIRACLE CAMP MINISTRY
If I’m honest, the past year has been a hard, difficult,
challenging year. It is never easy to transition staff or to
make changes in an organization. This year there have
been many transitions and changes in staff, structure,
finances and operations, and I, myself, have been part of
the transitions as my family has followed God’s call to the
Basque country. Many of these transitions and changes have
been good, but that certainly doesn’t make them easy.

AFFILIATES
& CHURCHES
As I look back at this year, the thing that sticks out to me
the most is how faithful God has been. He has provided
staff when we thought we were short. He provided both a
marketing intern and guest group interns for the summer-two areas where we were, in fact, short-staffed. He also
provided a videographer, two counselors, and secretary
for summer staff in less than a week. Lastly, He provided
financially and organizationally-- unifying the staff to
implement a contingency fund, restructure the organization,
and build a healthy, conservative budget to bring camp to
a healthier place. Guests showed up and filled camps and
retreats. Man Camp, Marriage Retreat and Summer Camp
had their highest years to date. Throughout the whole year,
we served a total of 13,407 people. Of those people served,
6,891 were in Miracle Camp’s programs. Attendance has
grown by an average of 5% per year for the past 10 years.
We praise God for His continued faithfulness; not just in
growing numbers, but in continuing to change the lives of
each person who attends Miracle Camp.
This year (2014 and 2015) we served the following numbers
of people in our main programs:
56
2444 Ice Camps (2015)
1536 Summer Camps
429 Women’s Retreat (2015)
405 Family Camps
771 Man Camp (2015)
124 Service Camps
171 Marriage Retreats
164 Parent/Child Retreats
This year, we are excited to have Jonathan Hyde (Fort
Wayne, IN) as our new Executive Director and Larry Wyse
(Archbold, OH) as our new Operations Director. Both of
these men have incredible experience and leadership skills
to continue to build the future of this amazing place. Miracle
Camp will be looking for a Ministries Director to lead our
program team and develop relationships with churches. God
has provided excellent leadership for the future and we are
confident that God will again provide the staff needed at the
time in which they will be needed.
The highlight of this year is our 50th Anniversary.
Throughout the past 50 years, there have been so many
staff, donors, and volunteers that have made Miracle Camp
what it is today. We recently finished a tunnel project to
provide safety for campers crossing 80th Avenue during
their camp weeks. This project was designed, built, and
managed entirely by volunteers! Again, God has provided.

As we continue this anniversary year through our Keeping
Faith campaign, we are excited to begin building a new
meeting space on Maple Ridge, installing a generator on
Bankson Lodge, and hopefully modernizing some of our
existing facilities. If you haven’t already seen the stories
of Keeping Faith, be sure to visit our website at
www.miraclecamp.com/keepingfaith. It is incredible to
hear the stories of how God has used Miracle Camp through
the years.
We invite you to join us on October 3, 2015 for our 50th

what He has done through Miracle Camp and Retreat

Where did the year go?! It seems like it was just a few
weeks ago that I had the privilege of standing before
the FEC convention attendees last year at Northwoods

is working here on the ranch. Already it is time to share
another report with you!
Let me tell you, this has been an amazing year. My wife
Stacey and I cannot imagine not living on Salem’s campus.
We have settled in and now call central Illinois home. The
Lord has allowed us here in rural Flanagan, IL to oversee
anywhere from 16 to 18 young men on our campus at any
one time from across the Midwest. This past year we have
served young men and their families from Nebraska, Indiana,
Kansas, Tennessee, Pennsylvania and Illinois.
Not only have we seen life change in many of our young
men but we have also seen the Lord change the hearts of
their parents! A key part in the healing and restoration of
our guys and their families is our family counseling. This
counseling is mandatory for each student and his parents.
We believe that restoration and reconciliation needs to take
place in the hearts of the entire family. We have seen the
Lord work in some incredible ways in families. Let me share
one example.

One of our students is from a neighboring Midwestern
state and his parents actually learned about Salem at last
year’s FEC convention. The challenges that they faced as a
family were difficult and they worked to try to address them
privately all while suffering privately. There were questions,
sadness, stresses, shame, and loss. Yet this family loved their
son deeply and wanted restoration and reconciliation. They
enrolled him in our program and he is about to graduate! I
have seen a marked difference in their son and I have seen
a marked difference in his parents too. You see, it was a
family effort. Not only did their son grow through his time
at Salem, but so did Mom and Dad. It took courage to
enroll their son at Salem. It took courage to admit that they
needed and wanted help. But the Lord has honored their
courage and their stepping out in faith on behalf of their
son and their family. There has been a total recommitment
to Christ.

SALEM4YOUTH REPORT
In this notebook, our advertisement has a photo of an
extension ladder. I view Salem as an extension of the
church’s ministry. It is difficult, if not impossible, for the
church to be all things to all people. Salem meets a growing
need in the Body of Christ. Families are in crisis, and when
a son is struggling at home, we understand. We understand
that families may need some help and encouragement for
a season to “reset” and rebuild. As James points out in
chapter 1:22-25, we all need to look intently into the “mirror”
of the Word of God, and what is the result? We will be
blessed. Here at Salem, we encourage and direct both our
students and their parents to look to the scriptures for their
hope and strength.

We see our ministry as “sowing the seeds” of the Hope
of Christ in the hearts of our students and their families.
Seeing young men trust Christ afresh, or for the first time,
is a wonderful part of the ministry here. Seeing the families
of our young men find renewed hope or new hope in Christ
is deeply encouraging. It is as Luke says in chapter 8, verse
8, “Still other seed fell on good soil. It came up and yielded
a crop a hundred times more than was sown.” Please pray
with and for us that the seed that is sown at Salem will
yield changed lives.
Christ is the ONLY hope for our young men, for their
families and for the ministry here at Salem.
Residential
• We are currently serving about 18 young men. We are
looking to bring that number closer to more than 20 in
the next couple of months.
• Both Clinton and Smith cottages are being used to
house our young men.
• We have been remodeling and preparing Wesley
cottage here on campus to house staff who live on
campus. We have a new couple who just joined us. The
wife will help in the kitchen, and the husband will work
in the cottage and around campus. We also have intern
staff living in a portion of Wesley cottage.
• We have initiated an intern staff program and positions
60
for individuals who want the experience of working with
young men in ministry. We are always open to inquiries
about intern opportunities. If you have any questions,
feel free to contact Gabe Jackson at
[email protected].
• We have split the school day and have also split our
students into two groupings. Half of our students are
in the classroom in the morning with the other half
working with the horses or in vocational. Then after
lunch the two groups trade places. We instituted this
program in May 2015.
• Our students continue to excel in sports
and consistently do well in our conference
sports opportunities.
• We have hosted multiple work teams on campus this
past year.

Development
• We continue to be humbled and blessed by the
generosity of the Body of Christ as well as by
corporations that understand our mission and want
to support the work.
• We have recently received a scholarship grant from
the GROWMARK Foundation to help assist families.
• Our Facebook page has proven to be a wonderful tool
to provide families, friends, and investors with daily
updates about what is happening on our campus.
When we started the page in 2012 we had about 200
connections, whereas today we are close to having
1,500. We typically have at least 300 views per post
and have occasionally surpassed 3,000 views on posts.
Parents and families of our young men particularly
follow the Facebook page. Find us at facebook.com/
salem4youth.
• Our Spring/Summer 2015 newsletter has been sent out.
• We have had donors this year who have used the
“matching gift” approach to encourage giving.
• This year we split our Charity and Horse Auctions.
61
SALEM4YOUTH REPORT
We did our Charity Auction on April 18th (approx. 300
in attendance) and our Horse Auction on May 16th (300+
in attendance).
• Our Annual Golf outing is August 22, 2015 at the Pontiac
Elk’s Golf course in Pontiac, IL. For more information,
please check out our website or Facebook page.
• Our Annual Banquet will be October 1, 2015 at the
Double Tree Conference Center in Bloomington, IL.
• We had a variety of opportunities to share about the
ministry in the community through other events.
Financial

AFFILIATES
& CHURCHES
• We continue to enhance and build up a scholarship
program to help assist families who need the
ministry while also needing some financial assistance
in getting their son to Salem. We have had some
success in this effort thus far and we trust the
Lord for His continued provision.
• We had a donor provide $10,000 for a “matching gift”
effort and that effort is still in progress at the time of
writing this report.
Counseling:
• We continue to focus our counseling efforts on Biblical
counseling. We believe that the Scriptures have the
answers to any issue our young men or their families
may be facing.
• Our counseling staff continues to enhance their skill sets
through continuing educational opportunities.
• We provide weekly Biblical counseling for our young
men as well.
• We also provide mandatory family counseling for the
student and their family on a regular basis.
62
This has been a very brief synopsis of some of the many
things going on here at Salem. I want you to know that you
are always welcome to “come and see” what the Lord is
doing here on our campus. If you have a work team that
would like to come and serve, you are welcome to contact
me. If you have a family in your church that may benefit
from what the Salem ministry can offer, please contact me.
I would be happy to come and share about the ministry at
your church, just give me a call. We want to serve the local
church however we can. More than anything, please pray.
I believe in the AMAZING power of prayer. I can testify to
that amazing power. Thank you for your prayers on behalf
of the ministry here. Please also remember our students,
their families, and our staff as we work together toward
familial restoration and reconciliation.
May the Lord Bless and Keep You,

PRODIGAL CHURCH REPORT
RECKLESSLY SHARING JESUS IN PHOENIX
Prodigal is a budding FEC church that exists to bring Jesus
to one of the most unreached demographics in one of the
top 10 most lost cities in America.
In January of this year, our launch team began meeting with
the simple goal of finding new ways to relate the timeless
truth of Jesus’ love to a city where less than 2 in 10 people
attend church. To accomplish that, we believe God is calling
us to risk relationships and reputations, even to the point of
being reckless, to share the Gospel with people ages 18-35 in
our city. And we’ve already begun.
A couple months ago we kicked off our outreach initiative
with an event called Yell At My Pastor, where a group of
agnostics and atheists came to give their two cents on faith
and religion, and give us some insight on how we can be
effective in our community. As we’ve continued to share the
Gospel within our personal networks, we’ve discovered a
culture filled with people who are heartbroken after lives
filled with drugs, divorce, abortion, and a litany of different
kinds of abuse. And the most desperate need in their lives is
the loving, healing message of Jesus Christ.

LIFEGATE CHURCH REPORT
There is almost nothing more energizing than seeing a
God-given vision come to life. After packing everything we
own and moving halfway across the country with several
families, we are amazed at the work God is doing in and
through LIFEGATE Church in Denver, Colorado. In just 21
weeks, we have seen several people place their faith in Jesus
Christ. Families are being restored, people are discovering
their divine purpose, others are growing in their faith. We
are on mission to reach the city of Denver, which every
church planting expert calls, “The City Where Churches
Go To Die.”
3.06
AFFILIATES
& CHURCHES
Yet, God has been on the move. Through the faith and
generosity of others, LIFEGATE is now the fastest growing
church in the Denver metro area. While we are excited to see
the Weekend Experience grow, our vision “To See People
Made Alive In Christ” has remained the same. And we are
focused on our mission to, “ENGAGE the world by building
a dynamic Christ-centered, Gospel-driven church where
people EXPERIENCE the presence of God, ENCOUNTER His
life-changing power, and become EQUIPPED to advance the
Kingdom of God by EXPONENTIALLY reaching all people.”
In a city that is ranked as one of the fastest growing cities
in the U.S., all the while being known as a city where people
are far from God, this aesthetically beautiful, yet dark city
is a field ready to be harvested by the Gospel. Our hearts
are grateful to God for allowing us to be here, and we look
forward to seeing God continue His movement in Denver.

SYNERGY INITIATIVE REPORT
Between the years of 2012 and 2014, the Kansas
Initiative has planted three churches. All three (Hillsboro,
Moundridge, and Park City) are thriving. Each of these new
churches have seen many people come to Christ in faith,
dozens of baptisms, and clear evidence of changed lives.
God is visibly at work in rural areas. Each of these three
churches averages at least 150 attendees per week and is
steadily growing. This could not have happened apart from
the power of the Holy Spirit. We are privileged to see the
Spirit at work in these new churches and are trusting Him
to lead us into launching a new FEC church in 2016.
Throughout the past year, the pastors of the three
new churches and the original sending church (Grace
Community Church in Newton) have been meeting monthly
to develop plans for finding a planter, a place, and a
strategy for the next church plant. Our financial support
has grown - primarily through two FEC churches - and we
are confident that we will be able to finance this new gospel
work when the Lord leads us to launch out.

LIFE COMMUNITY
GARDINER REPORT
Life Community is slowly building its reputation as a friend of
the town of Gardiner. The school in which we meet will call us
when a child/family has a need. What a privilege! The principal
once said that there is a different “atmosphere” in the building
on Monday after we have met to worship there on Sunday.
3.08
AFFILIATES
& CHURCHES
Life Community Church has participated in several downtown
events by hosting an outdoor ice rink, handing out Halloween
treat bags, and playing Christmas/holiday music. These
opportunities have opened doors for His kingdom to flow into
our community. New people are starting to show up in our
gathering on Sunday. However, we may have to move out of
“our” school because our children’s ministry is growing bigger
than the part of the school we are permitted to use. A young
man from Virginia may soon be joining us in the ministry
through a partnership with Rural Home Missions Association.
Thank you to Grace Evangelical Church (Morton, IL) and all our
friends in FEC who have been praying and giving in support of
this new beginning in Gardiner.

THE HILL COMMUNITY REPORT
After one year of studying and learning about the culture and
people of Maine, we have started our first location of gathering
together for the name of Jesus Christ. Prayerfully, many more will
come in the future. This first location is in a part of Portland called
Munjoy Hill or “The Hill” to the locals. This is where the Root Cellar
is located (therootcellar.org). We have been able to partner with
this local non-profit Christian organization in reaching the
local neighborhoods.
There are more than 100 languages spoken from several tribes
and multiple countries in and around the area where the Root
Cellar calls home. In any given week, we are able to spend time
with a diverse demographic of locals ranging from immigrants and
lawyers, artists and doctors, musicians and all types in between. To
walk the streets of Portland and build relationship with this broad
range of residents is fast becoming a key component in our longterm success and a true gift from the Lord.
The goal is that we would become brothers, sisters and friends to
those who are moved by God’s glorious grace. Our mission here is
simply that through faith in God the Son and by the power of God
the Spirit we will assist others in treasuring the supreme worth of
Christ. Our desire is to display the character of God by loving one
another and being exemplary men and women of honor, holiness
and humility.
3.09
AFFILIATES
& CHURCHES
Some tangible ways in which this is working may be seen as
we meet for men’s and women's discipleship every other week,
serving our neighbors through practical expressions of God’s love
expressed through Neighborlink Greater Portland. We have begun
a weekly church service where we spend time each Sunday looking
through the Scriptures, worshiping the Lord through music and
prayer, and enjoying a meal together.
Portland is a fascinating place and is not only ethnically diverse,
but one of the least evangelized cities in America. The multigenerational people who call Maine home have been at the
forefront of our post-Christian shift. Only a handful of churches that
teach the true gospel of Jesus Christ and believe in the authority of
the Scriptures can be found in this city of 300,000. We have found
that tangible acts of service coupled with genuine relationship
building have been the only method for sustainable church growth.
Please pray for our team up here in the isolated Northeast as we
labor for the name of Jesus Christ and love the people of Portland.

CHRIST THE KING
MT. WASHINGTON REPORT
People
In the past year we have seen Jesus build His church.
In many ways, our young church is becoming not just a
place people attend, but a family who loves and cares for
one another. Relationships are strengthening, people are
confessing and repenting of sin, and growing in their love
and knowledge of Jesus Christ. It is amazing what God
can do in a few short years through His people faithfully
gathering week after week, and we're excited to see how
God grows us in the years to come.

Community
At the end of the fall season this past year, our community
had a growing homeless population as we were entering
the winter season. Christ the King Church spearheaded
the efforts, along with others in our community, to care
for and find homes for many of the homeless population
in our community.
Place
One of the biggest frustrations for our congregation has
been the space limitations of our current meeting place. We
exhausted all the options of a new place to meet and simply
resigned to be in prayer. If something was going to happen,
it was going to take God doing something big...well if you
know our God, you know how He works. At the end of April
2015, we were approached by another local church who
wanted to give us their building for free! The Lord provided,
and on June 14, 2015, they voted to give us their church
building and join our church family. We are excited to have
a more permanent footprint on the east side of Cincinnati
and will begin gathering in the new space at the end of
the summer.
Needs
We have seen our giving grow during the past year and
continue to work toward being internally self-funded. With
the support of other churches, we have saved a good bit of
money that we'll be able to put toward some much-needed
deferred maintenance to our new building. A free building
70
with no mortgage is great, but is also a bigger financial
liability. We still need the support of FEC churches like you
as we enter into the next chapter of Christ the King Church.

KING’S CROSS REPORT
The evidences of God’s grace are all over King's
Cross Church. As the pastor, here are a few
things I celebrate:
1. I see a love for God. That shows up in a hunger to hear,
study, and discuss God’s Word — a sincere desire to
obey Him, and a joy in our worship gatherings.
2. I see a love for one another. We like to be together. We
like to eat together. We have rich community, and good
friendships. A healthy discipleship culture has formed.
It’s normal and expected to be a part of a Gospel Life
Group (12-20 people) and a Discipleship Group (three
to four people).
3.11
AFFILIATES
& CHURCHES
3. Our people are personally reaching out with the gospel,
and inviting others to experience Christian community.
People are slowly and steadily coming to believe the
gospel and experiencing new birth. In particular, God
has sent us to Defiance College, and a local homeless
shelter. We are seeing the fruit of being a consistent
presence in those places.
4. I see a love for Defiance. We are starting The Neighbor’s
Circle, which is focused on coming alongside and
developing people who are stuck in cycles of poverty.

LiFE CHURCH OF
LORAIN COUNTY REPORT
The major focus of LiFE Church for the year 2014 was
finding a new home for our ministry. In November 2013,
we learned that we would need to vacate the space we
were using and started our search right away. Long story
short, it took five months to find a new place and 10 months
to purchase it, due to property line issues.
Since the church property was no longer being used, the
owners allowed us to lease space in the hall for $1 a month
and utilities for the months it took for the purchase to go
through. Today, LiFE Church is a small church body of 40
people who own a worship space that will hold 250 people
and a hall that will seat even more than that!
One of our greatest challenges related to this purchase
is finding people to help us give 10,000 square feet of
walls the new coat of paint they need. We have been
chipping away at this, but it is slow-going with just a
few local volunteers.
3.12
AFFILIATES
& CHURCHES
Our greatest ministry challenge is finding ways to be known
and accepted in the close-knit, highly Catholic village of
Grafton, OH. People tell us that they like the fact that we
bought this property in their town since it had been sitting
vacant for six years. But, since most of these people are
either committed to an existing church in town or deeply
committed to keeping their distance from anything that
resembles a church, we have much work to do in finding
and meeting needs in this community. Pray that we would
be creative in and committed to reaching out. All prayers
and any hands-on help would be greatly appreciated!

RIVER CITY REPORT
A year ago, Eric and Leah Baldwin had just begun the
difficult work of inviting new friends to join them in the
start of River City Church in Pittsburgh. This small core of
committed individuals was meeting weekly in prayer and
preparation for a new church in the community of Swissvale.
In the fall of 2014, God provided a church building that was
available for Sunday evenings, and preview services began.
3.13
AFFILIATES
& CHURCHES
In March, River City Church began to meet weekly. The
core group continues to grow as people are attending these
weekly services. River City has remained committed to its
mission of making, maturing, and multiplying disciples. The
people of the church have reached out to the community
through involvement in community events, as well as
starting River City Preschool Co-op in order to meet more
families. A men’s discipleship group has started, spiritual
friendships have deepened, and the River City Kids program
has begun teaching the Gospel Project curriculum. Through
this time, the church has seen spiritual growth in the lives of
the people God has brought together. Individuals have been
stretched and grown, marriages have been strengthened,
and lives have been rededicated to the Lord.
God is building His church in Swissvale. Please pray for
River City Church — that we would remain committed to
preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ, God would add to our
number, and we would be able to find a more permanent
location as we anticipate a Sunday morning launch in the
near future.

ADRIAN, MICHIGAN REPORT
Led by Nate Hamblin, former Campus Pastor of Crossroads
Wauseon, and Caleb Barrows, Leadership Resident serving
at King’s Cross, a new church planting initiative in Adrian,
Michigan has just begun. The past six months have been
spent learning about the community and building a network
through more than 60 meetings with groups and individuals.
In the next month, both Caleb and the Hamblin family will
be settling into Adrian as residents, establishing relational
routines and finding ways to immerse themselves into the
community. Their desire this fall season is to begin forming
small communities of Christ followers throughout the city
focused on growing personally, connecting relationally, and
engaging the city missionally.
As an initiative of the Tri-State Co-op, this new work
hopes to serve as a springboard to other church planting
initiatives deeper into southeast Michigan. Adrian is a small
city with many churches and service organizations, and yet
the need is still great. As one pastor of a prominent church
in town said, “Every church in Lenawee County could be
filled to capacity, and we would still only be scratching
the surface of the gospel need here.” Pray for the Hamblin
family, Caleb, and the continued faithfulness of The Church
of the Good Shepherd. As another community leader said,
“Be ready for discouragement. There’s huge need, but it’s a
tough place. Many people say, ‘I’ve been to church, tried it,
it’s not for me.’”

WAVE COMMUNITY REPORT
Wave Community Church held its first public service on
April, 5th, 2015, with 93 people in attendance. Located in
Deshler, Ohio, a small town of around 1,900 people, God
has moved in amazing ways, bringing to Wave Community
people from a largely unchurched background. We have
discovered that many people in small rural areas were raised
attending church, at least sporadically, during childhood, but
never had an authentic life-changing relationship with Jesus.
Because of this, we have seen incredible opportunities for
discipleship to begin. A few weeks into our church, we began
our first discipleship group, taking people through their “First
Steps” as new believers. We designed a four-week class that
uncovers what it means to follow Jesus. Instilled in the DNA
of these groups are tools new believers can use to easily
understand and share the Gospel. Seeing our newly discipled
Christians already bringing people to church and sharing
what little they know with others has been one of the biggest
encouragements to our team.
3.16
AFFILIATES
& CHURCHES
Even as a new church, Wave has already been able to make
a positive impact on the community of Deshler. We hosted
a “movie on the lawn” as a celebration for the end of school
and had more than 100 people in attendance. Plans for more
movie nights, as well as community events, are already in the
works! Another incredible opportunity that God brought to
our young church was the chance to take our regular offering
and go door-to-door in Deshler asking people for ways that
we could bless them. Our church responded emphatically by
giving six times more than we normally receive on a weekend.
This was a monumental step for many people as they gave
money to God for the first time in their lives. Even though it
seems we have little to no resources to work with as a church
plant, God has still been orchestrating ways for us to be
generous, and in the meantime, has never failed to provide for
our needs.
Thanks to the many congregations that have given sacrificially
throughout the last few months. Because of you, we have
been able to spread the love of Jesus in our small community
and will not stop until every person we come in contact with
hears about the life that only Jesus offers through His death
and resurrection.

CHAIRMAN’S REPORT
An unbelievable tide of lostness hovers over our world
today. People are drowning in their sin, hopeless without
a Savior. That’s why Christians must go; why churches
must send out workers and plant churches; why we as
a fellowship of churches must start a Spirit-empowered
movement that flows through our local churches
nationwide to take the Gospel of Jesus Christ across the
street and around the world. I love that this movement has
already started in our churches. This has been an amazing
year of ministry. We are making headway in establishing
reproducing churches worldwide!
Here in the United States, 13 FEC churches have recently
been launched or are in the process of being planted.
They stretch all the way from Portland, ME to Phoenix, AZ.
They have names such as Wave Community, The Remedy,
LifeGate, The Hill, King’s Crossing, Prodigal, and River City.
This year, we are welcoming New Anthem into FEC, officially
recognizing them as a “fully participating” church. Many
non-believers have come to Christ and are being discipled
through these church plants!
4.01
REPORTS
We have also been reaching out overseas. In the world
today, there are still 7,289 people groups where less than
2% claim to know Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior,
and there is no Gospel preaching church in their language.
We are presently sending missionaries from our churches
to two of these unreached people groups. Our missionaries
working with the Yalunka people of West Africa have finally
been able to read and talk about the Bible with them. They
seem very open to hearing the Gospel of Jesus Christ
preached to them. Also, a sister church in Burkina Faso will
be sending additional workers to help with this ministry!
The other unreached people group we are working with is
the Basque People of Northern Spain. During the next few
months, additional FEC Global Footprint Personnel will be
moving to Northern Spain to help share the Gospel with
these people. It’s been amazing to watch God work through
His followers to raise the funds and pray for support needed
for this ministry!
78
We also just approved a third Mission Initiative to
unreached people groups in India. We will be coming
alongside present national evangelists and pastors by
sending FEC pastors and leaders to provide leadership and
theological training for these workers! It has been a joy
to serve as your Conference chairman and to watch God
work in such a mighty way both here at home and abroad
this year. Special thanks to the members of our general
board, the directors and workers at the FEC office and
our conference president, Rocky Rocholl. These men and
women are devoted to Jesus Christ and passionate about
fulfilling the Great Commission!

CHURCH MULTIPLICATION —
INTERNATIONAL REPORT
Newsfeeds from around the world this past year have
been filled with accounts of the Ebola epidemic in West
Africa, international tensions, terrorist activity, European
countries on the verge of bankruptcy, earthquakes, floods,
and so much more. In the midst of the world news, have you
caught a glimpse of Kingdom news and how God is using
local churches and individuals from FEC churches to build
His Kingdom around the world? God continues to call forth
an army of His mighty men and women from throughout
FEC to be spread out on the front lines around the globe.
From engaging unreached people groups and meeting
areas of great human need, to translating scripture, planting
cross-cultural churches, and training indigenous pastors and
evangelists, these men and women are making great inroads
into the darkness. Check out fecministries.org/global, and
be encouraged in catching a glimpse of how God is using
FEC churches and sending workers into the harvest field.
4.02
FEC’s vision is to establish reproducing communities of
Christ followers around the world. Following in obedience
to the Lord in regards to this vision, we are currently
working together on two international church multiplication
initiatives among two unreached people groups.
REPORTS
BASQUE CHURCH MULTIPLICATION INITIATIVE
During these past few months, God has propelled this
initiative forward with giant steps. With a sharpened focus
and a refined initiative strategy, God is answering more than
two decades of prayer and perseverance from FEC churches
and individuals. He has called gifted servants, who together
with the Shadowens, now form a rock-solid initiative team.
Throughout this past year, the team has been developing
unity and preparing for the work ahead. FEC churches and
individuals who have linked hearts around the vision to
reach the Basque people have been brought together and
now stand shoulder to shoulder in prayer, encouragement,
and financial support. This amazing display of God’s
provision is allowing the entire team to arrive in Basque
country – fully funded by late summer 2015.
80
Highlights of this past year include:
• Jeff and Mary Shadowen (Brookside Church, IN) moved
to the Basque town of Zumaia, which has opened the
door for greater relational opportunity and impact in the
lives of Basque People.
• Jason, Emily, Brittney, Braden, Taye and Cooper Coon
(Lawton EMC, MI) moved to the Basque town of Orio
in late June and experienced God’s sovereign hand in
preparing relational contacts even before arrival.
• Ramon, Cindy, William, Jackson and Carter Garcia
(Berne Evangelical Church, IN) prepared and anticipated
their visa approval and will be moving to the Basque
town of Zarautz this August.
• Courtney Mosier’s (Crossroads Evangelical Church, OH)
recently had her visa approved and will be moving to the
Basque town of Oñati this August.
• Truett Smith (Upland Community Church, IN) and
Matt Rossi (Grace Evangelical Church, IL) have
been approved as international interns for the FEC
International program and will move to the Basque
country at the end of this summer.
4.02
REPORTS
• A partnership with American Dream, an English
immersion organization, has been established. Twelve
Basque students and two American Dream founders are
currently being hosted this month of July in Illinois by
attendees of Grace Evangelical Church and Jacob’s Well
Community Church.
The days ahead are bright as the full team becomes
established on the ground, settles in, and begins to enact
the initial stages of the church planting movement. This
strategy includes prayer, encounters with people of peace,
and the establishment of discovery Bible studies that will
hopefully develop into multiplying groups. Incorporating
these steps with cultural-immersion and language
learning should provide great forward movement for
the Basque team.

CHURCH MULTIPLICATION —
INTERNATIONAL REPORT
WEST AFRICA CHURCH MULTIPLICATION INITIATIVE
The Lord truly blessed FEC this past year through the
numerous FEC churches and individual donors who
united together around the vision to launch a reproducing
movement among the Yalunka people. Having a solid team
of prayer warriors, encouragers, and supporters was crucial
in the team’s ability to leap forward on the strategy timeline.
This support thrust the West Africa team onward, enabling
the entire team to arrive on the ground in Kedougou,
Senegal, FEC’s current base of initiative operations. Now
that they have begun to live and work together from the
same city, the WAI team has become more cohesive and
unified, giving them a powerful forward-momentum.
Highlights of this past year include:
• Village visits have deepened relationships, allowed for
oral translation of scripture passages, and have led to
some new Christ followers and a few baptisms.
4.02
REPORTS
• Samba and Pastor Barry are two gifted local translators
who God has uniquely called and gifted for working
with the FEC team in sharing the message of the
Great Creator.
• Steve and Pat Nelson, Initiative Director, (Pine Hills
Church, IN) moved to Senegal in early October 2014 once
the initiative was fully funded, and are now on location to
direct the vision, and guide and encourage the team.
• Troy, Gerri, Chloe and Cora Masters (Solid Rock
Community Church, OH) have progressed in both French
and Yalunka and continue to develop in their ability to
communicate on deeper levels during the village visits.
They have completed their first term and are on North
American Assignment from July 2015 to June 2016.
• Ashley Freytag (Crossroads Evangelical Church, OH)
spent most of the year living in the Yalunka village of
Madina Bafe. She has progressed well in her language
and is anticipating the village trips during next year’s
dry season.
82
• Michael, Jenn and Eden Sprunger (Berne Evangelical
Church, IN) solidified their formal French study with
a trimester of study in Albertville France. In April 2015
they moved to Kedougou Senegal with the rest of the
initiative team and began Yalunka language and culture
study. God has richly blessed them with a second
pregnancy and due date of late November 2015. They
will finish their first term and be on North American
Assignment October 2015 to May 2016.
• A partnership between the Evangelical Mennonite
Church of Burkina Faso (EMC-BF) and FEC continues
to develop for reaching the Yalunka people. Siaka Traore,
president of EMC-BF, along with his wife, Claire, and two
others will share with FEC pastors and leaders Thursday
evening during the FEC Annual Convention.
• Although devastating, deadly and quite close, God has
kept the Ebola virus away from the area where FEC’s
workers are living and they have experience very little
effect from the epidemic.
• Several short-term teams enriched and assisted the
West Africa team by providing a team building retreat,
encouragement, remodel of a home for the Sprunger
family, footage for making promo videos, and more!
4.02
REPORTS
We look ahead with eager anticipation of what God will
do during the next dry season as we move ever-closer to
beginning oral storying in the villages. In each village the
chief and elders continue to offer an open door for the team
to return, and we await the opportunities for continued
teaching. We long to see how God will use the team as
greater progress is made in the Yalunka language and look
forward to how God’s Spirit will develop the new Yalunka
believers as they continue to share the portions of the
Great Creator’s message they’ve already heard.

Divine Opportunities Cleverly Disguised as
Gut-Wrenching Challenges
Maybe that headline is a bit overstated. Or maybe it is
exactly what some of the men who are starting new FEC
churches really feel … gut wrenching, stressful pressure to
work like mad and trust God like mad. As enemy ground
begins to be plowed in new ways, the fight is declared and
the devil enlists darts of discouragement and arrows of
exhaustion to slow the church planter.
4.03
REPORTS
The gospel spells “great news” to those who hear for the
first time, to those who dare to come and see what the new
guy in town has to say. And as the old story of God’s love
is made new again, the buds of divine opportunity begin to
sprout and the planter and his team witness the miracle of
new birth. New birth, new hope, blind eyes opened to the
wonder of God’s forgiveness and love, restoration of broken
lives and relationships … these are the very outcomes prayed
for and planned for by those who extend the message of
hope in FEC. This is what makes sacrifice and pain and
discouragement worth enduring in the trenches of new
church ministry. This past year, I’ve witnessed those whom
God has called to start new churches deal with loneliness,
discouragement, questions about God’s direction, financial
pressure, and outright criticism of those who simple don’t
“get” the point of a new church. By witnessing the power of
Christ to reach and redeem those who are lost and without
hope, these same ones are “lifted up” to see the wonder of
God working in and through them.
UPDATE ON URBAN CHURCH PLANTING
Cincinnati, OH: Christ the King (CTK) – Mt. Washington
Dustin Nimmo, Planter
As a campus church of CTK – Cincinnati, this new church
has grown steadily, ministering to a section of Cincinnati
that is both spiritually and economically needy. About 90
people are attending on any given Sunday. As I mentioned
in last year’s report, a pressing challenge was for CTK –
Mt. Washington to find a suitable (longer term) solution
for a location to house its growing congregation.
84
On June 14, the congregation of Eastern Hills Baptist Church
- in the central/east side of Cincinnati voted to give their
building and assets to CTK – Mt. Washington. In addition,
the 20-25 existing members want to join CTK –
Mt. Washington. The relocation will be taking place effective
August 2nd. This is a tremendous answer to prayer and will
provide the venue for growth into the future. We praise God
for this wonderful provision!

Denver, CO: LifeGate Church Nirup Alphonse, Planter
Pine Hills Church launched this new church initiative last
year as they sent Nirup and Hannah Alphonse to Denver.
Since that time, a number of families and individuals have
moved from Fort Wayne to be a part of this new church on
the east side of Denver. They are currently meeting in Cherry
Creek High School with 180-200 people in attendance this
spring. By nearly all measures, this plant is moving forward
in a strong position to help FEC multiply in the Denver area!

Phoenix, AZ: Prodigal Church
Bradley Reith and Tim Swanson, Planters
Throughtout the past couple of years, I’ve maintained
contact with Bradley Reith. Bradley served as a church
planter through Life Community Church in Hilliard, OH.
For a couple of years, Bradley served faithfully in Dublin at
a new FEC church start. Since winding up his ministry there
and moving his family back to Phoenix, Bradley has waited
as God opened doors, brought along Tim Swanson to join
him in leading the plant and established a vision to move
ahead in reaching many people in the 22–35 age range in
northwest Phoenix. Tim recently left his ministry position as
worship pastor of Moon Valley Bible Church to join Bradley.
Currently, both Bradley and Tim are laboring full time to

establish Prodigal Church. They are meeting regularly with
a launch team, watching it grow in number and raising the
kind of support needed to both support their families and
get the new church off the ground.

Pittsburg, PA: River City Church Eric Baldwin, Planter
4.03
REPORTS
The first two years of planting for Eric and Leah have been
ones of challenge and blessing. This year they welcomed
their new son Simon into the world in January. They have
labored to build the launch team to about 20 people.
Currently they are meeting on Sunday evenings at Swissvale
Presbyterian Church. They are seeing new people come to
check out River City Church nearly every week! In addition
to regular meetings, Eric has begun meeting weekly with
a group of men for breakfast. They formed River City
Preschool Co-operative this past year and it was a great
success, regularly ministering to eleven children from eight
different families.
Perhaps the greatest challenge has been finding a suitable
longer-term location. Please join Eric and the launch team
in praying for a place to meet. The lack of rentable space
continues to confront and confound Eric as he leads River
City Church.
You can check out much more information about River City
at www.rivercitypgh.com.
Portland, ME: The Hill
Eric Wood, Planter
Last year I reported that Eric and Mandy Wood had just
moved from Fort Wayne to take on the challenge of planting
an FEC church in Portland, Maine. Since that time, Eric has
continued to work to support his family while doing all the
86
things necessary to build the foundation for a church plant.
Currently there are about twenty people connected to the
core team of this FEC initiative. Eric has recently moved to
part-time status for his job and is devoting even more time
to the plant. The group is now meeting weekly as they grow
together into a community of Christ-followers who minister
to and reach others.
Please pray that more in FEC will step up to support this
important initiative. As FEC continues to think about ways
to reach many more people in the state of Maine, we
desperately need a healthy work to grow in Portland, the
most populous city in the state of Maine.
Pray for the community of believers who have gathered
under Eric’s leadership. Pray they may be the salt and light
in this very challenging sub-culture – one which has virtually
no Christian memory or connection.
Eric has brought the work of Neighborlink into the greater
Portland. The objective of Neighborlink is to encourage
practical neighbor-to-neighbor expressions of God’s love
through service. Visit their Facebook page at

Community Church in Deshler, Ohio. This is a plant
sponsored by Crossroads Church in Wauseon. Alex, along
with his wife Darla, moved from Kansas to join the staff at
Crossroads – Wauseon to prepare to plant in Deshler. Over
the past year, they have moved into the community, raised
up a launch team and watched the Lord bring 75-80 people
to the church.
Pray for Alex as he continues to follow up with people who
visit and/or express interest in spiritual things. Pray for the
leadership and launch team as they serve on a weekly basis.

This year we have the great joy of celebrating our 150th
anniversary as FEC. I am grateful that after these many
years we do not find ourselves involved in arguments about
the authority of God’s Word and the essentials of the faith
as is the case in many church denominations. We have been
blessed by not being divided but rather united by these
things that we all consider to be essentials in the faith. For
this blessing we are grateful to the faithful leaders who have
gone before us and to the Lord for His grace shown to us.
In each of the past 150 years of our existence there have
been two constants: challenges that confront us and a
faithful God who goes with us. And in every one of those
150 years our faithful God has led us through whatever
challenge that was encountered. As we continue into the
coming years there will no doubt be new challenges to face
as we serve within God’s kingdom. Thankfully, every one of
these challenges can be confidently faced as we confront
them with a complete dependence upon our great God who
was, is, and forever will be faithful.

2014 CONVENTION MINUTES
FEC CONVENTION-IGNITE 2014
Friday, August 1
9:00 a.m.
Worship Session #1
The 120th annual convention of FEC commenced with a
worship set with the team and band from Northwoods
Community Church. Cal Rychener then welcomed everyone
to Northwoods and to the Convention. Cal encouraged us to
be faithful to use the gifts that the Holy Spirit has given us,
in the place He has put us, doing the task He has assigned
to us. He then opened in prayer.
Chad Causey (One Hope) shared with us concerning
fruitfulness in ministry. The world is changing rapidly.
How does that affect our ministry? Often, we are better
at measuring ministry activity, than we are at measuring
ministry results. We all measure what we care about. Chad
read Romans 12:1-8. Are we willing to change? Sacrifice? Be
generous? Are we passionate enough about the Truth, that
we are willing to change whatever is necessary in order to
see real fruit in the lives of those God has called us to? It
is critical that we become dedicated listeners and careful
observers of those around us, so that we might present the
Truth in a relevant manner. All of the changes in our society
and culture present to us incredible opportunities for
ministry if we are willing to watch, change and leverage our
abilities for the sake of the Gospel.
4.11
REPORTS
Matt Boyers, Chairman of the General Board, officially
opened the convention. Despite all of the changes in our
culture, God’s faithfulness never changes.
Matt led us to approve by consensus the minutes of the 2013
Convention, included in the convention notebook.
The motion was carried by verbal assent.
Video: LifeGate Church, Denver, Colorado - Nirup Alphonse
Steve Moore (Missio Nexus) directed us to Matthew 24:14.
Here we see missiology and eschatology. These two ideas
must be merged. When they are separated, we focus on
the chaos which will mark the end of the age. The world
as we know it will not last indefinitely. At some point, the
Gospel will penetrate the darkest corners of the world.
117
2014 CONVENTION MINUTES
No one knows for sure who will run this anchor leg of the
age. Perhaps, God wishes that we would all live and serve
with the passion and urgency which that thought inspires.
There is a possibility that the 21st century may be more like
the 1st century than any other. Ministry will be given back
to individual Christ followers. Ministry will be marked by
the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit. Ministry will be
marked by increased persecution.

Worship Session #2
Worship with the Northwoods team. Matt Boyers gave
some direction concerning some of the consensus votes
and affirmations coming up this afternoon. He also drew our
attention to some of the things contained in the convention
notebook.
Video: LiFE Church of Lorain County (Ohio) - Jeff Ahlgrim
Dustin Nimmo, church planter in Cincinnati, gave an update
on the Christ the King (CTK) plant in Mt. Washington.
The church is growing and will soon be in need of a
larger space in which to meet. Dustin shared some of
the process they have gone through and some stories of
how God is changing lives. He also spoke of the residency
program which Christ the King has been developing and
implementing. CTK has seven residents who will be going
through the program this year.
Jim Griffith (Griffith Coaching) spoke to us regarding the
mindset of multiplication. Between the years 1990 and
118
2000, 100,000 churches closed their doors. In the ensuing
10 years, another 25,000 churches closed. Church planting
needs to be about reaching people outside the four walls of
the church. Statistically, new churches are the most effective
way to evangelize a lost culture. Often, the church has an
empire mindset - which grows only by hoarding what it has,
and adding people. We need to have a kingdom mindset.
Kingdoms grow by multiplying. All churches need to grow
by going out and giving away what they have (Acts 13). We
need to multiply the leadership gift within the church. We
also need to expand our footprint, by sending leaders and
people out to the fringes of a church’s reach. We need to
leave a legacy.
Video: River City Church, Pittsburgh, PA - Eric Baldwin
Eric shared a bit of the journey that they have been
on throughout the past year. They have been building
relationships in their community and laying the groundwork
for their future launch.
Video: Yalunka Initiative, West Africa - Steve Nelson
Steve gave us an update on the work among the Yalunka
people of Mali. Some of the team is currently making its way
through the process of language learning. The doors to the
Gospel are wide open, both among these people, as well as
other nearby people groups.
4.11
REPORTS
Video: Cal Rychener spoke to the importance of multiplying
and advancing in our pursuit of the mission of sharing Truth.
Northwoods has started two new campuses over the last
4 years. He also spoke of their participation in ministries
in Israel, India and Brazil. The church of Christ needs an
“advance” mentality.
Steve Moore (Missio Nexus) spoke on the concept of “vuja
de”, which is the opposite of déjà vu. Vuja de is the ability
to look at a situation you have already seen as if you have
never seen it before. It is important for us as churches and
leaders to see where we are with fresh eyes that we might
more effectively share Truth with the world around us. We
must be willing to develop new strategies as we minister in
this rapidly changing culture.

assent.

4.11
REPORTS
Worship with the Northwoods team. Communion was
served and Tim Bertsche and Matt Boyers led us in a
celebration of communion.
Cal Rychener spoke about the importance of the priority
of intimacy with God. There are many things in our lives
which at any time could overtake us and sweep us away.
It is at those times when we need God the most. Every
Christ follower’s number one job is to keep their own heart
encouraged and close to God. Romans 12:11 tells us to keep
our hearts “aflame.” No one else can do that for us. Tend the
fire (Leviticus 6:12-13). Live in the confidence that comes as
a result of intimacy with God.
Matt & Tim led us in a time of prayer. Rocky introduced via
video and in person, the eight new churches that are coming
into FEC. Tim Bertsche, Matt Boyers & Rocky Rocholl led us
in a prayer of dedication for our new churches.

Worship Session #3
Worship with the Northwoods team.
Glyn Knight (Grace Church, Morton) shared that while
pastors are asked to do many and varied things in the line
of duty, that the most important thing we are tasked to do
is preach the Truth of the Word (II Timothy 3:16-4:3). We
preach the Word because it is sufficient to reach the lost,
to comfort the broken hearted, and to plant and grow a
church. The Truth of the Word is more than sufficient for the
task at hand - to become reproducing churches. Scripture is
capable of equipping us for everything that God would ask
us to do. Stand on the confidence that God has called you to
preach the Word. It is His Word that transforms lives, not our
ability. Scripture reveals the character of God. It is timeless.
Landon Jordan (New Anthem Community Church, Park
City, Kansas) shared the journey that he and his wife have
been on over the past five years that has resulted in the
establishing of the church in the past year. He challenged
us to look for those in our churches who have abilities they
may not realize they have.
Video: Salem4Youth - Terry Benge (Director) gave an
update on the ministry at the ranch. Terry shared some of
the ways in which God has been working in the hearts and
lives of the boys who are in the program.

REPORTS
Video: LifeChange Camp & Retreat Center - Bill Anderson
(Director) shared an update with us of the year of ministry
at the camp. They had the privilege of having a baptism
this year. Hundreds of campers were taught, counseled and
discipled throughout the weeks of camp. With new staff
members and new facilities, it is anticipated that the number
of campers, weeks and retreats will increase in the coming
years. Bill painted a great vision for what God may desire to
do in the future on the campus of LifeChange.
Video: Miracle Camp & Retreat Center - Kris VanBoglen
(Financial Director) spoke of the power of temporary
community. It is great while it lasts, but it must be followed
up, so that God might continue the work that He begins

in hearts while kids are at camp. Miracle Camp does not
replace the local church, but exists as an extension of the
local church. Dale Boone (Executive Director) also spoke
of the ministry. Over 14,000 men, women and children
will be served at the camp in 2014. Next year, they will
be celebrating 50 years of ministry. They are planning a
celebration and reunion for October 3, 2015.
Dave Teat (Christian Service Foundation) spoke of the
mission and services offered by the foundation. While
offering returns to investors, CSF is actively involved in
supporting FEC churches and projects around the country.
Dave shared many figures to evidence those services.
4.11
REPORTS
Dave Reimer (Grace Community Church, Newton, KS)
shared with us the process that they have been undergoing
the past three years to become a church multiplication
center in their region. Jay Nickless established a training
and mentoring program that has resulted in several planters
having been trained, and three church plants have been
established to this point. Dave stressed that they do not
want to limit their reach to Kansas, but are willing and open
to helping wherever God leads them. Adam Utecht, Landon
Jordan and Jason Rains each shared updates of God’s
working in each of their respective plants.
Rocky Rocholl opened the business meeting portion of the
morning. Rocky thanked all of those who have participated
in making this weekend possible, from FEC staff, to
Northwoods personnel, to our speakers.
Rocky gave a recap of 2014. This was a year of transition
for FEC in terms of multiplication and the funding of our
ministries. Much progress has been made in the building of
teams for the Yalunka and Basque initiatives. The gap has
begun to close in the funding of the initiatives. Hardest hit
were existing initiatives and missionaries who were already
in progress. Most of these initiatives and candidates, while
having to dig in and spend some extra time, have found an
increased “buy in” from many individual FEC churches.
Rocky directed our attention to the budget sheets which
were handed out. We have been able to balance our
expenses and income so that we are not behind. However,
we are in this position because money has not been spent
122
in other areas, such as coaching and leadership
development. We must fund these areas, or our resident,
church planter and intern streams will eventually dry up.
Our goal must be to balance this budget.
As we look ahead to January 2015, the budget projection
is flat. There is no increase in the total amount, but some
resources have been reallocated from transition expenses
into the residency and leadership development programs.
CSF has agreed to provide some matching funds for church
planters to get their ministries off the ground sooner. CSF
is also expanding their scholarship program. Personnel
expenses and healthcare expenses are rising, due to factors
common around our country. Care must be taken to keep
expenditures down.
Matt Boyers came to explain some of the things that
have been happening this year and to take care of some
business items.
Matt asked us to affirm by verbal consent the nominating
committee report.
The report was affirmed.
Matt presented the opportunity to affirm the budget the
same way.
The budget was affirmed.
4.11
REPORTS
Matt challenged us to sense the urgency in the work
that God has given us. We may in fact be the anchor leg.
Therefore, we must tend the fire and preach the Word with
all that we are and have. God extends His invitation to us to
come to Him that He might give us the passion and strength
that we need. We must be faithful to the task God has given
us. We need Him, because only the power of Jesus Christ
can compel us to keep going and keep doing what He has
asked us to do. Matt led us in prayer, thanking God for all
He has been doing and will do in the coming days.
Rocky shared what he sees on the horizon for FEC.
Currently, we have three residency programs. We would
love to see one or two more of those begin this year. We
must be willing to contribute to these programs and to
be a part of what is happening around the association.
“Momentum” (Dave Ramsey) is coming up at Northwoods
123
2014 CONVENTION MINUTES
in October. FEC has made it possible for the pastor and
one other leader to attend this conference on giving and
church finances. Communications will continue to improve
with the help of the Nichols Company. OneHope, with Chad
Causey, is willing to give away their ministry and tools to
help churches retool their ministries to help people more
effectively. The next step in our reorganization may include
changes to the functions of our General Board and Elder
Board. These members must be people of influence in our
churches, so that we can do the things we have committed
to do. The Elder Board may need to grow larger due to all of
the credentialing interviews, which is an exciting “problem.”
We have the opportunity to accomplish far more as an
association than we could ever do as individual churches.
We share a common vision and common beliefs. We are at
the beginning of some great things that God has in store.
Next year, we will be celebrating 150 years of FEC, with the
theme “EMBARK,” July 30 - August 1. We have only just
begun. We have an exciting future ahead of us.
We gathered in groups of two and three for prayer.
Matt Boyers closed the convention in prayer.

NEWLY AFFILIATED CHURCH
NEW ANTHEM COMMUNITY CHURCH
In 2011, Grace Community Church in Newton, Kansas felt God’s
call on them as a corporate body to be a church that planted
churches. This led to the hiring of a seasoned church planter by
the name of Jay Nickless whose responsibility was to make this
vision a reality.
Within months, Pastor Jay had identified a community and
began building a team of individuals who could help launch a
life-giving church—and on Easter of 2012 Grace Hillsboro (Now
Grace Community Fellowship) held their first service. Within six
months, Grace Moundridge (Now Grace Crossing) opened their
doors, and Grace Community was off and multiplying.
A result of this rapid multiplication was the realization that
Grace was going to need leaders who could pastor these new
churches, and so a formal church planting residency program
was established. It was here that New Anthem Community
Church was born. In fact, five of the six residency participants
are involved in some capacity with church planting, including
Landon Jordan, the founding pastor of New Anthem.
Two church planting organizations assisted New Anthem with
the funding needed to launch a healthy, life-giving church. The
Association of Related Churches (ARC) in Birmingham, AL and
the Fellowship of Evangelical Churches (FEC) in Fort Wayne, IN.
New Anthem was started not because Park City needed
another church, but rather a different kind of church. A church
that is a safe environment for regular people to explore faith
within community. Everyone is welcome at New Anthem,
whatever their story, questions, doubts, or struggles. Our motto
is, “Come as you are, because that’s where God will meet you.”
4.12
REPORTS
From that place of acceptance, we’ll help each other grow to be
all God intended us to be. For us, it’s all about, all because of,
and all for… Jesus. It’s not about buildings with baristas, bowling
alleys, or bookstores. We want to embody the Church Jesus
had in mind— and he never saw church as a place to go, but as
a people…not a religious institution, but a movement of love
and hope. We think this whole faith thing is at its best when it
motivates selfless service, sacrifice, and love…caring about the
things God cares about.
As a family of faith, we are committed to BRING people into
a saving relationship with Jesus, BUILD them up in the faith,
EQUIP them for ministry, and SEND them out on a mission to
dispense hope to our local communities and beyond. We were
all created to live for something larger than ourselves and God
invites everyone, everywhere into this way of living.

PRESIDENT'S REPORT
Discipleship is not for the faint of heart. Or as some of my
millennial friends would put it, “The Gospel isn’t for wimps!”
This may seem like a strange way to open my report on the
past year, but I believe it is exactly the mindset necessary for
the church today and it characterizes the resolve that has been
demonstrated throughout FEC’s history. For 150 years we have
sought to demonstrate the balance of strength under control.
I know at times we have erred on one side or the other, but
by God’s grace He is continuing to use the individuals and
ministries of FEC to further the work of His kingdom.
The theme EMBARK seeks to describe the action required
to truly function as Christ’s ambassadors to our increasingly
hostile world. We cannot stay in the safe confines of our home
or church. To be salt and light, we have to be in the world.
That can be scary and dangerous.
4.15
REPORTS
We would not even have the opportunity to know the Good
News had the original disciples been wimps. I have recently
been following the TV mini-series A.D. The Bible Continues. The
courage and commitment of the early Christians seems to jump
right out of the drama. How could a small band of peaceful,
loving believers make such a huge impact on the entire world?
Because they were also fearless and willing to go to radical
lengths to share the Good News. They stood up to a sinful
society in a weak and compromising religious environment.
This is not unlike the situation where we find ourselves in 2015.
Almost daily we hear reports of Christians being martyred
around the world. Our lawmakers and courts restrict our
evangelical voice and grant privilege to anti-Christian causes.
Our response? To stand boldly and declare the truth of God’s
word. I believe that is the report of what is going on in, and
through, FEC.
I feel we have actively embraced the challenge of Establishing
Reproducing Churches Worldwide. It has taken some bold
and creative moves. An 80-year-old church merging with a
new FEC church (Highland Bethel and Gospel Community);
Trips into villages to share the first Bible stories ever to the
Yalunka peoples of West Africa; A launch team selling homes
and leaving jobs to travel halfway across the country to start
a new work in a new state (Denver, Colorado); Six churches
committing together to train planters and establish works in
multiple communities in their region (Tri-State Co-op reaching
NE Ohio, NW Indiana, and southern Michigan); Two families
130
and three young adults joining our initiative to the unreached
of northern Europe (Jason and Emily Coon, Ramon and Cindy
Garcia, Courtney Mosier, Truett Smith, and Matt Rossi); A new
church multiplication center (Pine Hills) joining Kansas Synergy
group, Christ the King, and the Tri-State Co-op.
We are also seeing great progress as planters are crossing
cultural barriers to reach into urban centers. We are actively
working in Pittsburg, PA (River City), Phoenix, AZ (Prodigal
Church), and Portland, ME (The Hill). I have been very
encouraged to see our established churches working
together for both support and to share resources. The groups
of churches in central Illinois meet regularly, as do the Indiana
churches and the Tri-State area. We are working to expand
these opportunities to let more churches interact on a more
regular basis. I am so thankful that our established churches
are still willing to adapt and stretch to stay relevant to
their communities
At the FEC Office, the biggest change in 2015 is that Jonathan
Hyde has accepted the Executive Director position at Miracle
Camp. While this is a great fit for him, it left a huge hole here
at the office. I am excited to share that Nathan Zimmerman has
stepped into our Administrative Director’s role. Nate brings a
strong financial background to this position along with multiple
generations of FEC involvement.

REPORTS
We appreciate the increased involvement of CSF, as they invest
back into FEC projects. Their financial partnership through
grants and scholarships is greatly accelerating our ability to
build into our next generation of FEC leaders. They have also
modified their lending program to better meet the needs of our
new church multiplication process. In addition to loans for brick
and mortar, we now have some flexibility in how to fund the
new church start-ups.
Beyond the spiritual impact they are having in campers' lives,
Miracle Camp and LifeChange Camp continue to serve our
fellowship. They provide discipleship training to young leaders
and are places for churches and individuals to connect. Both
camps are in the midst of facility growth plans that mirror the
growth of the churches they serve. The ministry of Salem4Youth
is also growing stronger under the direction of Terry Benge. The
increased outreach to the families and church families of these
young men is greatly increasing the positive long-term impact
in their lives.

PRESIDENT'S REPORT
Our greatest challenge as we move forward is to keep up
with the financial support of all these ministry opportunities.
Currently there are 13 churches in some stage of startup.
That’s equal to almost one-fourth of our current fellowship!
We are now in the second full year of our new funding model.
As we track YTD giving to initiatives, we have seen some
very encouraging trends. For example, the Basque team is
nearly completely funded. However, as church multiplication
spreads into areas where we do not currently have churches,
the support base is weak. I appeal to each of our FEC
congregations to explore the possibility of coming alongside
and adopting one or more of these new works to help them
get established. Pray for them, encourage them, and financially
support them as they represent you in a new community. Most
of these works are proving to be financially independent in less
than 3 years. Support for a year or even a one-time gift can
make a world of difference in the health and viability of a
new church.
4.15
REPORTS
The second challenge we have grappled with this year is that
of our shared healthcare plan. The changes in the Affordable
Care Act and high claims within our network have left us no
alternative but to drop our plan. We are working with advocates
to assist our churches in finding the most cost effective way of
providing for their employees.
This year FEC celebrates 150 years of ministry. That is an
amazing milestone for any organization. But my prayer is that
this is only the launching pad for us as we EMBARK on the next
leg of our journey. I am so very grateful for a wonderful team
here in the office and all the amazing church members, pastors,
and missionaries that share in the vision and ministry of FEC. I
also could not serve in this role without the love and support of
my wife and family. Thank you all for this privilege.
Respectfully submitted,
Rocky Rocholl
President

QUIZZING REPORT
The 2014-2015 FEC Quiz Year had our quizzers learning and
quizzing over the New Testament book of Matthew. Throughout
the quiz year there were 41 different Junior and Senior High
teams representing 14 different FEC churches that participated
in the year’s three quiz-offs. These teams represent more than
212 individual quizzers.
The 2014 fall quiz-off was held at Miracle Camp on Saturday,
November 22. The day of quizzing began at 9:00 a.m.
and continued until the finals were completed in the early
evening. The material covered was Matthew 1-10. Many of the
teams spent both Friday and Saturday nights at camp and
participated in the planned activities surrounding the quizzing
which concluded with a worship service on Sunday morning. I
am very grateful for the entire camp staff that made our stay
so enjoyable. We enjoy our annual quiz-off at Miracle Camp
and look forward to quizzing there again in the coming fall. The
following teams ended the day in the top three positions:
Top 2 Teams, Junior High Division
1.Highland Gospel Community 2 – Zebediah Demorest, Jackie

REPORTS
It is exciting to consider all that God is doing and will do in
and through so many of our young people who are involved in
the study and memorizing of the Word of God through FEC’s
quizzing program. This program continues to be possible only
because of the commitment of many different people. Without
the hospitality of the host churches, the talented quizmasters,
the timers, the incredibly dedicated coaches, supportive parents
and the wonderful quizzers it would not be possible. Over
the next year we will continue to work to adjust to our new,
shortened schedule as we quiz over Hebrews 1 and 2 Peter.
Continue to pray for wisdom in these adjustments and that God
would be glorified through the ministry of quizzing and through
each quizzer!

We're Nichols Company, a full-service marketing agency.
While we serve many for-profit clients (including two
Fortune 500 companies), we have a heart for helping
faith-based and not-for-profit organizations, including the
Fellowship of Evangelical Churches.
We employ a balanced approach to storytelling—solid
analytical thinking, intelligently expressed ideas, and
strong design. No weird gimmicks or blinking neon lights.
Just work that shines.
Give John Paff a call at (260) 422-6800. We'd like to learn
more about your ministry and help you tell its story.
Take us for a test drive. Subscribe
to the Nichols Marketing Toolkit —
a weekly e-zine of tips, trends,
and tactics for telling your story.
