INTERVENTION
Lighting the way to grade-level proficiency
As an educator, you know that literacy and
math skills are the root of academic success.
Students who struggle miss out on the
fun of learning—the joy that comes from
understanding, connecting the dots, and
having agency over their own learning.
HELP STUDENTS TAKE A BIG LEAP FORWARD
Intervention works best when lessons are
tailored to students’ individual needs. But
how do you know exactly where to begin
and how to address their gaps? No two
students are alike, and no two struggling
learners have exactly the same needs.

BLENDED LEARNING
The right content for the right student
at the right time
Classes get bigger. Resources shrink. In this day and age, how do students
receive the instruction and attention that’s best for them—that meets their
needs as individuals? How do we engage, nurture, and sustain their curiosity?
How can we be certain that our blended learning classrooms have the right
balance of digital and face-to-face instruction? And perhaps the biggest
question of all: how do we manage to seamlessly integrate digital learning
with teacher-led, classroom-based lessons? At Compass Learning®, we work
with your blended learning model to address your instructional needs.

INQUIRY & PROJECT BASED LEARNING
Student-centered inquiry,
enrichment, and reinforcement
Every student must be engaged in order to learn effectively, and to be
engaged, each child must actively participate in planning and directing
his or her own learning.
GoQuest™ by Compass Learning® enables students to take ownership
of their learning experiences, not only by presenting methodologies and
scenarios for inquiry and project based study and providing access to
a research database of more than 40,000 vetted resources, but also
by matching content, activities, and project outlines to specific student
interests and learning preferences.
GoQuest is a student-centered tool that facilitates strategic inquiry and
critical thinking. It encourages students to explore and follow their interests,
while outfitting educators with tools to assign, facilitate, mentor, and
evaluate activities and projects that are appropriate for each and every
student, regardless of ability level.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL SOLUTIONS
Prevention, intervention, extension
Elementary educators strive to start students on the right foot and help
them make real academic progress. Compass Learning® is with them every
step of the way. Rather than wait for problems to arise and then treat them
reactively, diagnostic assessments built into our solutions quickly identify
student proficiencies and skill gaps and prevent problems by assigning
individualized learning paths to specifically address each student’s areas of
immediate need. Should students have serious difficulty, Compass Learning
delivers precise, timely, targeted intervention to accelerate struggling
learners toward grade-level proficiency.
Compass Learning is dedicated to moving students beyond ‘just good
enough’ to ‘the sky’s the limit’. We combine an educator’s passion for
high-quality instruction with our expertise in developing fun, rich, rigorous
digital content, projects, assessments, and learning tools. In partnership,
elementary educators and Compass Learning will serve up enjoyable
learning experiences that get young minds excited about learning—and
keep them that way!

MIDDLE SCHOOL SOLUTIONS
Engaging students for the future
Middle school educators know that students display a wide range of
learning needs. Some students want to quietly absorb, while others
seek open-ended exploration. And don’t forget the students who
wonder when they’re ever going to use in real life what they learn in
school. Reaching each of these students can be a challenge.
At Compass Learning®, we understand how hard it is to engage every
student. That’s why our middle school solutions are designed to help
educators recognize each student’s needs and interests and provide
developmentally appropriate instruction and intervention that
personalizes every student’s learning experience. Through fun, targeted
digital instruction, activities, projects, and assessments, students obtain
the individualized instruction they need to flourish.

ASSESSMENT INTEGRATIONS
Leveraging your assessment data
Personalizing learning depends on data. And more than that, it can depend
on an educator’s ability to interpret data in order to tailor instruction for
a student’s specific needs. But compiling and analyzing data for 25 or 30
students—never mind 300 to 500—can be a daunting task.

Compass Learning® solutions accelerate
student learning in powerful ways
To put it as succinctly as we can, Compass Learning® solutions work.
Read what the studies say about our results:
An analysis* of nearly 5 million test scores from more than 800,000
students in almost 2,000 schools across the country revealed that
Compass Learning solutions dramatically accelerate academic growth.
A common metric in social science research is effect size, which
quantifies the amount of gain made in terms of standard deviations.
The effect size for the Compass Learning study group was 0.52. How
good is this? Standards vary, but the U.S. Department of Education’s
What Works Clearinghouse defines those interventions with effect sizes
above 0.25 as “substantively important,” putting the Compass Learning
effect well above that range. In fact, this effect size puts Compass
Learning in the “zone of desired effects”—the highest category defined
by meta-analysis researcher John Hattie.
