Moranbah’s Australia Day Celebrations will begin with a free fun triathlon at 6.30am
supported by BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA), Moranbah X-Fit, CFMEU, Foher,
Lane4 Aquatics and Hutchinson Builders followed by an Aussie breakfast cooked by the
Moranbah Freemasons, local entertainers and the official Ceremony including Citizenship

Moranbah Triathlon Race Rules
The Moranbah Triathlon is a fun race which aims to create an atmosphere of sportsmanship, equality and fair
play while optimising safety and protection.
If for any reason the Greg Cruickshank Aquatic Centre is not available for use on January 26 a run leg will be
subsitutued for the swim leg.
Participants should read the rules below and sign this form to reflect acceptance and understanding of the race
rules.
Competitors must:
• Practice good sports conduct at all times
• Be responsible for their own safety, the safety of their own equipment and consider the safety of others
• Be responsible for understanding and following the Moranbah Triathlon rules
• Obey traffic regulations and instructions from race officials
• Treat other competitors, officials, volunteers and spectators with respect and courtesy
• Use appropriate language
• Be responsible for keeping to the designated event course
• Not obstruct or interfere with the forward progress or jeopardize the safety and welfare of another
competitor or race official or spectator or member of the public
• Not leave equipment or discarded articles of equipment anywhere on the course, except the ap
proved dedicated locations
Swim:
• A competitor must wear a swim cap if provided by the race organisation
• In an emergency, a competitor should raise an arm overhead and call for assistance
• Any artificial propulsion device, eg. fin, sock, glove, paddle or flotation, is prohibited
Bicycle:
• A competitor must obey traffic laws unless otherwise directed by a race official
• Bicycle helmets are compulsory
• The bicycle helmet must remain securely fastened on the head of a competitor at all times once the
bicycle is removed from the bicycle rack, while on the bicycle course and until the bicycle is replaced on the bicycle rack
Run:
• A competitor may not run without shoes on any part of the run course.
Transition Zone Rules
• A competitor must mount and dismount the bicycle at the respective designated mounting and
dismounting zones
• A competitor must at all times rack his/her own bicycle at their designated bicycle rack location and
leave it in a stable position
• A competitor must at all times place all their equipment at their designated bicycle rack location
• A competitor must not interfere with another competitor’s equipment but where accidental interference occurs the offending competitor must replace the equipment to its former position and state.

Registration and Photography Permission Form
Isaac Regional Council is collecting the personal information you supply on this form to assist in managing and
coordinating the Moranbah Australia Day Triathlon. It is unlikely your information will need to be transferred to
an external third party unless required by law or your permission is sought. Your personal information will be
handled in accordance with the Information Privacy Act 2009.
All participants agree to Section 33 under the Information Privacy Act 2009 which requires Isaac Regional
Council to get your permission to transfer your personal information outside of Australia. This largely relates to
your information being promoted on our website and people from outside of Australia being able to access the
information.
Where images are captured Council requires permission to use these for promotional purposes. This includes
publishing in media, on Council’s website and in strategic reporting and planning documents.

5km Run Leg – Starts from Marshalling Area to Griffin Street, double back to the start of Curtain Street, into
Parella Street then back to Marshalling Area. Repeat course 3 times = 5km. Finishes at the Marshalling Area.

Parella Street then back to Marshalling Area. Repeat course 3 times = 5km. Finishes at the Marshalling Area.

1.5km Run Leg – Starts at Marshalling Area, proceeds via grass to cross Parella St and run around the Oval 3
times via Parella Street and grass to finish at Marshalling Area.
