Conditions and privileges of membership.
4. The payment of £18 and upwards annually shall
constitute the subscriber a Member of the Society
and for each additional family member a payment
of £16, and shall become due and payable in
advance on the 1st day of February in each year.
Free Admission.
5. Annual Subscribers of £18.00 to the Funds of this
Society, and not in arrears, shall be entitled to
ONE free Admission Ticket to the Annual Show,
and one Member’s Wristband and Car Park. Subject to space being available.
Subscribers of £35.00 shall be entitled to TWO
Free Admission Tickets and Car Park. - Subject to
space being available.
Family Membership shall be £40.00 for Two
adults and Two children and Car Park.
Donors of Special Prizes, who are not Annual
Subscribers, shall be entitled to Free Admission
Tickets in like manner to Annual Subscribers.
Power to refuse entries.
6. The Council may refuse any Entry at their
discretion without giving any reason.
Judging in case of animals entered in more than one
class.
7. When any animal is entered in more than one
Class the Society will not undertake that the two
classes shall be judged at different times, nor shall
the judging in one Ring be delayed to suit the
convenience of Exhibitors having animals entered
in more than one Class.
Bona fide possession.
8. All animals must be bona fide the property of the
Exhibitor at the time of Entry, and no animal can
be entered in more than one Class of this Society’s
premiums except where otherwise stated.
Exhibitor’s Instructions.
9. Every Exhibitor shall produce a certificate, if so
required by the Council, to prove the age of any
exhibit made by him, and shall answer all such
questions as may be put to him by the Council
respecting his exhibit.
Measurements.
10. All animals entered in Classes with conditions as
to height may be measured with their shoes on; an
allowance of 1⁄2in. will be made for shoes, except
in Classes where the Measurements Certificates
issued under the Joint Measurement Certificate
Scheme will be accepted. Such Certificates must
accompany each animal, or be produced before
prize money will be paid.
Conditions as to award of prizes.
11. When any conditions attach to the winning of a
premium, the prize shall not be paid until such
condition has been fulfilled and a certificate
thereof produced to the Secretary.

EXHIBITORS PLEASE NOTE!
All prizes offered by this Society are open to all parts
of the United Kingdom except in District Classes, or
where otherwise stated.
All Prize Money will be paid out on the day by the
respective Stewards, except in cases where premiums
are withheld until the Society’s conditions are fulfilled,
but please note Show Regulation 26.

GENERAL REGULATIONS
Date of Show.
1. The Society’s 144th Annual Show will be held at
Stokesley on Saturday, the 17th September, 2016.
Date when entries received.
2. All Entries must be made in writing to The
Secretary, Stokesley Agricultural Society, Oak
Tree Cottage, Newsham, Thirsk, YO7 4DH on
or before 29th August next. Entries sent by post
must be accompanied by a remittance where any
entrance money is payable. Blank entry forms may
be obtained from the Secretary. NO Entries will
be accepted after that date excepting Dogs, which
are accepted on the field on Show Day.
Admission to the Field.
3. The public will be admitted into the Show
Ground at 8.30a.m. at a charge of £10.00 each,
OAP's £8.00, Children £6.00, under school age
free, family admission £25.00 to all the Show.
Admission Tickets will be issued to Exhibitors
who make entries to the value of £6 or over.
Disabled "The Stokesley Show Ltd., does not wish
to discriminate against visitors with disabilities, so
the full admission rate will be charged. However,
if a visitor has a full-time carer or attendant, a
free ticket is available for them at the time of
purchasing a standard price visitor ticket. This
concession is only available by applying in
advance, with supporting documentation to: The
Secretary, Stokesley Show Ltd., Oak Tree Cottage,
Newsham, thirsk YO7 4DH.

Selling Classes.
20. In the Selling Classes for Poultry, Pigeons and
Rabbits, no Exhibitor shall be allowed to claim
his own exhibits, or employ any person to do so.
The Society shall have power to deduct 10 per
cent from the selling price of any exhibit entered
in such Classes. In the case of two claimants the
exhibit shall be sold by auction and the highest
bidder become the purchaser. Sales at 4 p.m.
Claims. - Claims must be made by 3.30 p.m.
Withholding of award.
21. The Judges shall not award any prize unless the
Exhibits are deemed worthy.
Disqualification.
22. In all cases of disqualification the animal or other
exhibits placed next in merit shall succeed to the
prize.
Infringement of rules to debar from exhibiting.
23. If any exhibitor shall, in the opinion of the
Council, infringe these Rules and Regulations they
may be disqualified by the Council from
competing at the Show for the next succeeding
three years, and be liable to forfeit all claims to
any Prizes which may have been awarded to him,
or he may otherwise be dealt with as the Council in
its absolute discretion may thinks fit. The Council
shall be indemnified against any legal proceedings
arising from the disqualification.
Compensation
24. The Society will not be in any way responsible for
any claim for compensation or otherwise in regard
to the holding, or for anything arising out of, or
connected with, their Shows.
Responsibility for Accidents.
25. The Society will not be responsible for any
accident that may occur from the Machinery
belonging to any Exhibitor; and it is a condition
of Entry that each Exhibitor shall hold the Society
blameless, and indemnify it against any legal
proceedings arising from any accident caused by
an exhibitor’s machinery.
Parade.
26. PARADE of ALL PRIZE-WINNERS in the Cattle
Section 3.00 p.m, followed by Horse Section in
THE MAIN RING. Winners to be ready, and same
must parade or Prize Money will be withheld.
Disputes.
27. The decision of the Council shall be final and
binding in all questions or disputes of any kind
whatsoever arising out of or in connection with
this Society’s Show. All persons entering exhibits
for this Show shall by such act be deemed to have
agreed with the Council to refer such questions or
disputes to that Council, and it is on this distinct
understanding that entries are accepted.
Tradestands
28. To be on the field by 8am.
Tenant Farmer.
12. When the term “Tenant Farmer” is used, it means a
person who derives the principal part of his income
from farming land.
Time for admission for exhibits.
13. All Exhibits will be admitted to the Show Ground
between 7 and 9 a.m.
Judges’ numbers.
14. All Animals brought to the Show Ground for
exhibition must have the Judges’ number attached
before they can be admitted at the gate. These
numbers will be sent by post, and care must be
taken by the exhibitors that each animal has its
proper number attached or it will not be admitted.
Corresponding numbers will be attached to each
stall or pen prepared on the Show Ground for each
animal or pen of animals, and on no account shall
any person be allowed to remove any animals from
the stalls or pens so assigned to them until the
close of the Show, except when taken before the
Judges.
Foals.
15. All foals entered for the Society’s premiums
must be haltered and led into the ring when under
inspection of the Judges.
Poultry, etc.
16. The Show of Poultry, Pigeons, Rabbits and Cavies
will be arranged in suitable pens in Tents erected
for the purpose. Exhibitors must provide own
water containers. No person will be allowed to
remove any bird except in the presence of the
Stewards. Exhibitors of Ferrets to provide their
own pens.
Non-liability of Council.
17. The Council of the Society will not be responsible
for any losses, mistakes, or accidents of any
description that may occur to any entry, and entries
will be received subject to this condition.
Epidemic disorder.
18. Any Exhibitor bringing any animal into the Show
Ground diseased with any epidemic disorder shall,
on proof thereof, forfeit £100 to the Secretary for
the use of the Society; and any Exhibitor giving
a false or incorrect certificate shall forfeit every
unpaid prize and all entrance money.
Objection.
19. Any person wishing to lodge an objection to
the award of any prize, must do so in writing to
the Secretary within one hour after the Class is
judged, or within one hour of the opening of the
tent in which the Exhibit is staged, and deposit
with them the sum of £10, and if on investigation
by the Council the objection is not sustained to
their satisfaction, the deposit money shall, at the
discretion of the Council, be forfeited to the funds
of the Society.

Vehicles
29. All essential pass holding vehicles to be on the
showfield by 8.30am and exhibits to be in the
relevant marquee. No movement of vehicles after
8.30am
Mock Auctions.
Mock Auctions WILL NOT BE ALLOWED on the
Show Ground. By Order of Society.

HEALTH AND SAFETY POLICY
Available to be inspected in the secretaries office on show
day, or beforehand by contacting the show secretary
Stokesley Agricultural Society
Stokesley Agricultural Society was formed in 1859 and its
principle function is to run the Agricultural Show on the
Saturday following the third Thursday in September. The
Show Society controls those activities on the Showfield
and on its adjoining fields beyond the bypass and has no
connection with, or control over, the fair which operates on
manorial land over Show Week.
The Society is run by a council elected by members at the
A.G.M. which is usually held in March. Besides having
the right to elect, or be members of council, membership
also gives free admission to the Showground, free parking
on the Showfield, if there are spaces, and admittance to
the Members’ Enclosure on the south side of the Ring.
There, members have access to the catering facilities of the
Members’ Tent.
The Society always welcomes new members from the
area. Those who visit the Show will realise that it caters
for a wide range of interest having not only agricultural but
horticultural, children’s and other special interest sections
and we hope that the Membership and the Council will
reflect the whole range of the Show’s activities. The Show
started as an agricultural show because in 1859 the majority
of the people in the area were involved in agriculture, that
is no longer so, and while the Show will maintain, we hope,
its agricultural base, it is a Stokesley community society and
seeks your support.
The Council of the Society trust you would wish to support
the Society by becoming a member and the fees are £18
single membership plus £16 for each additional family

NPS QUALIFYING ROUNDS: These classes are judged
under the Rules of the NPS. Ponies must be registered in
the main body of their respective Mountain & Moorland
Stud Books. Part breds are not eligible for Mountain &
Moorland Classes. To compete in Show Pony and Show
Hunter Pony classes ponies must be registered in the
NPS British Riding Pony Stud Book, Register, Appendix,
International or sports Pony section of the BNRPSB, the
GSB, the AHSB, the AASB or in the main body of their
respective Mountain & Moorland Stud Books. Part-Breds
are not eligible unless entered in the NPS British Riding
Pony Stud Book, Register, Appendix, International or
Sports Pony section of the BRPSB.
Quality rounds of most NPS competitions are open to
ponies owned by NPS members and non-members but only
ponies owned by adult NPS Qualifying or Life members
are eligible to quality for the final of the competition at the

Owner and Rider/Exhibitor need to be a current
showing member and present their valid Qualifier card
IN THE RING for signing by the judge. Members
to apply in writing to CHAPS (UK) for appropriate
qualifier card. The CHAPS (UK) Championship
show will be held on 31st August - 3rd September
2016. Shows held on or after date of Championship
show will count as 2017 qualifiers. The following

A Silver Medal Rosette goes to the Champion, if owned
by a NPS Qualifying or Life member. If the Champion
is not owned by a NPS member the Silver Medal Rosette
goes to the Reserve if it is owned by a NPS member. Silver
Medal Rosette to go no lower than first Reserve (third)
provided it is owned by a NPS member.
The qualification goes to the Champion if owned by a NPS

The driver must be aged 10 years or over on the first
day of the show at which they are to compete. A driver
under the age of 18 must be accompanied in the vehicle
by a competent and responsible person aged 18 years
of over, a "responsible adult". Proof of age will be

driver (if over 18) of (if the owner/driver is under 18)
the responsible adult to ensure that his/her groom/s is/

The "Stud Goat" Challenge Cup for the Stud
Goat the sire of the best progeny exhibited at
certain Shows, not exceeding nine in number, in
any one calendar year. Points will be allotted to
progeny winning prizes as follows: Each 1st prize,
3 points, 2nd prize, 2 points, 3rd prize, 1 point;
subject to no goat being allotted more than three
points in inspection classes and three points in
milking competitions at any one show. No points
will be allotted in respect of awards in "family",
or in "novice" or other restricted classes. The
qualities of the goat itself will not be taken into
consideration. The Cup will be awarded to the
breeder of the Stud Goat whose progeny secure the
most points, provided that not less than 25 points
are obtained by the progeny of one goat.

Method:
1. Preheat oven to 180ºC (160ºC fan) mark 4
2. Grease and line an 18cm (7in) round cake tin
with baking parchment
3. To make the cake, put all the cake ingredients
into a food processor and pulse to combine
(alternative beat by hand in a large bowl). If
using Stork cream the marg until light and fluffy
before adding the rest of the ingredients.

4. Scrape the mixture into the lined cake tin and
bake for 35-40min or until golden on top and a
skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean.
Leave to cool in the tin for 10min, then remove
from the tin and cool completely on a wire rack.

5. For the icing, put the sugar and cream of tartar
into a small bowl and add 2tbsp of boiling water.
Stir to dissolve. Put egg white into a separate
medium bowl and start whisking with handheld
electric beaters. /with the motor running, gradually
add the sugar mixture. Continue until icing holds

This pool is situated in natural surroundings with some of the
largest trees and long established rohadendrum bushes in
what is a beautiful dale. The Pool has a water depth varying
between 6 and 10 feet and is well stocked with a large amount
of Coarse fish.
This also attracts a lot of wild life making it simply one of the
best fishing pools in the area.
There’s ample car parking next to the lake on a hard standing
with easy access.
Location:
Take the B1257 from Stokesley heading towards
Helmsley. Continue through Great Broughton
and. up Clay Bank. Pass Clay Bank top car park
and viewing point descend into Bilsdale.
Approximately one mile. After minor road on left
fishery is located in woodland. Entrance directly
next to the road and car parking next to lake.
This pleasant acre and half fishing pool fishes extremely well
for mixed bags made up of predominantly carp.
A large number well in double figures.
This lake enjoys a sheltered aspect in natural surroundings
and attracts a lot of wild life.
Water depths vary between three and six feet.
The mainstay of stock is carp but there’s also a good head of
crucian carp. Tench, Roach, Rudd, Ide, Bream, Chub, Perch.
There’s ample car parking next to the lake.
Location: Take the B1257 from Stokesley
heading towards Helmsley .
Turn left at the mini round about in Great
Broughton and follow the Ingleby Greenhow
road for approximately a mile fishery is well
signed, car park on left hand side directly
next to the road.
