ST. JAMES ROMAN CATHOLIC PARISH WEEKLY BULLETIN - July 25-26, 2015
Pastor’s Corner... Fr. Robert Aliunzi, A.J.
DYNAMIC CATHOLICS: WHO ARE THEY?
CATOLICOS DINAMICOS: ¿QUIEN SON?
In my last article, I pointed out that by virtue of our baptism, we are all called and commissioned to be Disciples
of Christ and that this commission challenges us to be
dynamic, involved and fully invested in the life of our
parish. It further instructs us to cure the sick, cleanse
lepers and cast out demons. In this article, I promised to
suggest practical ways of how we are called to cure the
sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers and drive out demons and so to this topic I now turn.
vida parroquial. La llamada también nos comanda a
curar a los enfermos, sanar a los leprosos y sacar
demonios. En este artículo, prometí sugestionarles
modos prácticos de como hacer estas cosas
mencionadas.
How can we cure the sick as we are not all professional
medical doctors? Yes we can! Opportunities abound
here in our parish through which we can help sick people who are physically, psychologically and spiritually
ailing for instance, by being care-givers to them. We can
do this not only by joining the Ministry of Care, visiting
hospitals and homes, bringing the Eucharist to the sick
but also by making doctors’ appointment, providing
transportation, assisting in the homes for orphans and
the aged, abandoned children and so on. Sadly however, many times we think we are too busy to do this and
think some other person will do it and in the end our sick
miss the opportunity of being cured through us.
¿Cómo podemos curar a los enfermos si no somos
medicos profesionales?
We are also called to raise the dead as one of Christ’s
terms of references for us his disciples. Taken literally,
of course, we cannot raise the dead. But truly we can!
For instance, there are people in our communities who
are dead in their faith because of broken relationships
and marriage breakups. They no longer go to Church or
pray; they do not read the bible or meditate or now go to
some other Pentecostal Churches with charismatic appeal to them. There are still others who question their
faith in God or have fallen away from their faith due to a
simple misunderstanding or some aspects of the
Churches teaching on morality. We are called to provide
understanding and spiritual assistance to these our
brothers and sisters because truly they are spiritually
dead. We are called to be instruments of their resurrection by answering their questions about the faith, referring them to a priest for spiritual direction or by simply
encouraging them and accompanying them to return to
the Church. Sadly however, many of us think this is better done by priests, theologians or counsellors and in the
end our brothers and sister continue to remain dead!
The other commission that Christ has directed us to implement is curing lepers. But before we do that we need
to ask ourselves who are the lepers in our lives. Someone once said that if we spell the word L-E-P-ER backPhone 623-581-0707
Fax 623-581-0110
Literalmente, claro, no podemos
Somos llamados a proveerles
entendimiento y asistencia espiritual a nuestros
hermanos y hermanas porque verdaderamente están
muertos espiritualmente.
Visit our Web Site at www. stjames-greater.com
email admin@ stjames-greater.com
ST. JAMES ROMAN CATHOLIC PARISH WEEKLY BULLETIN - July 25-26, 2015
St. James News
wards, we get R-E-P-E-L! Simply put therefore, the lepers in our lives could be those people at work or at
school who are obnoxious to us. They could also be our
neighbors or even our children who nag or constantly
criticize us. How can we cure their leprosy? The best
way to do so is by killing them with our kindness and
love; by smiling at them, by helping them with their
needs and by surprising them in a way that compels
them to ask why we are being kind to them in spite of
their hostility towards us. This takes a lot of humility but
we can do it.
hacia nosotros. Esto requiere mucha humildad pero si
se puede.
Finally, we are also called to drive out demons. Indeed,
we all have some kind of demon in us that make us not
to act as we should towards one another and to be the
best persons we can be. A lot of these can be our inner
feelings that constantly cause us to be negative about
life often thereby throwing us into depression. We can
drive out this demon by seeking professional counseling
or by asking for advice from our families and friends.
However, the most powerful tool we can use to expel
demons is through prayers. Yes, prayer is a good way to
rid ourselves of those demons. To the subject of prayer,
we shall return in greater detail in a future article.
Finalmente, somos llamados a sacar demonios.

Art & Environment—Do you enjoy being happy? The Lord has a ministry
for you! The A & E team meets the 1st Thursdays of each month at
6 PM in the church to pray and plan! All you have to do is come to the
meeting to learn about our ministry. All are welcome, and we can certainly
use any help, even if it is only a few hours a year!
Hospitality—Do you like humans? Jesus does too. Jesus also wants to
reach them through the Hospitality ministry. Experience the Lord Jesus,
the Son of God, the Light of the World and Author of Life, smiling through
you!!! Come and be part of His ministry! We meet on the 2nd Thursdays
every month at 6PM in the church.
Extraordinary Ministers & Lectors—With an obvious thickening of darkness in our culture, there is no time to delay. Join the fight against it, come
and be a light to the world! We are particularly running short of extraordinary ministers. Help bring Jesus to others! We meet 3rd Thursdays of
each month at 6 PM in the church.
Music– Are you getting ready for heaven? Don’t worry; you can start by
joining our choir!!! I’ve heard there’s a lot of singing going on around God’s
throne, and we have an opportunity for you to go prepared! We meet every
Thursday of the month at 7PM in the church.
Don’t worry about contacting anyone, just simply show up to the meeting...God might be asking you to go !!!
