PEACE MEAL SENIOR NUTRITION PROGRAM
24 HOUR EUCHARISTIC ADORATION
Peace Meal is looking for a new group of volunteers for a route one day a week.
One volunteer is all that is needed, but often two people go so one can drive and one
can go to the door.
This meal is very important to the seniors who receive it. In many cases it is the
only full meal and the only human contact a senior has in a day.
The meals are picked up at the Chester P. Sutton Community Center,
256 West Court Street in Paris.

Basic Dairy Products At Home Workshop
If you’re looking for a creative way to get your children in the kitchen, come to the White Violet
Center for Eco-Justice’s Basic Dairy Products at Home Workshop from 1-4 pm EDT on Saturday,
Aug. 13. Some dairy products are easy to make in your home and use little to no special ingredients or
equipment. During the workshop, you’ll learn to make butter, buttermilk, yogurt, sour cream, paneer
and mozzarella. Cost to attend is $40, and the registration deadline is Aug. 5. Register online at

Taizé Prayer Service
Aug. 9 ~ Stress
The Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods
invite you to their monthly ecumenical Taizé prayer
service held in the Church of the Immaculate Conception
on the 2nd Tuesday of every month in 2016 focusing on
“Finding God in the Ordinary“. This service includes
prayers, beautiful music, a time for silence, spoken and
silent prayers. Songs are sung many times over as a
prayer of the heart. This quiet and reflective time is
peaceful as well as joyful. All faith traditions are welcome
in the candle-lit glow of the Church of the Immaculate
Conception. Each service occurs on the 2nd Tuesday of
every month and begins at 7 pm EDT.
Join White Violet Center for Eco-Justice to get a head start on the holiday season as the center hosts its
Nuno Felted Scarves Workshop from 1-5 pm EDT, on Saturday, Aug. 20. Come learn the unique form of
felting that creates beautiful fabrics with lovely drape. You will create scarves by felting alpaca and wool
fibers onto a thin, gauze silk backing. Cost is $100, and the registration deadline is Aug. 13. Register

The Extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy
DON’T BE HARD HEARTED.
We have all heard stories of relatives who fight over an estate or a supposed inheritance.
Luke recounts the Jesus parable of packing away so many possessions in order to “rest,
eat, drink, be merry!” It is Jesus who said to the crowd, and says to us today: “One’s life
does not consist in possessions.” On hearing Christ, the logical philosopher lays outs this
syllogism: (1) Guard against all greed; (2) because life does not consist of possessions;
(3) therefore, give away somethings, some time, some effort, some of self.
 What things can I give away?
 What time and effort can I expend to another?
 How will I reuse, use up, recycle?

SISTERS TO HOST MANDALA WORKSHOP
The Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods,
Indiana, will host a “Mandala Workshop,” from 10am
to 4pm EDT, Saturday, Aug. 13, at Providence
Spirituality & Conference Center. Mandala is an
ancient symbol for wholeness and harmony, and the
workshop invites participants to explore their soul
through creating mandalas. Cost is $40, which includes

Our own parish nurses will be
offering a free blood pressure
screening this weekend after the
5:30pm & 8:30am Masses.
Prayer Answered!
The Shaughnessy family would like to thank all who offered
prayers for baby Norah. Her 3 month follow up for her heart
defect showed that the problem has resolved on its own and
she no longer has to see the cardiologist. The family feels that
this is nothing less than God’s direct work!

SATURDAY (8/6/16) – 5:30 pm
“Prayer Petition Box”
This box is in the gathering space next to the statue of the Sacred Heart. Place a prayer petition in
the box and each week the box will be placed on the altar during Tuesday and Wednesday
adoration. People attending adoration will be asked to include prayers for our church and the
petitions contained in the box. Following adoration the petitions will be shredded and the box
placed back in the gathering space to collect petitions for the next week. The box is locked for
privacy. Only you and God will know what the petitions are.
In a few months we will be asked
to make a very important decision
for ourselves, our families and our
country. Now is the time to start
praying for the wisdom to make
the right decision.
Our faith teaches us that “conscience is the
voice of God resounding in the human heart,
revealing the truth to us and calling us to do
what is good while shunning what is evil”
(from the U.S. Bishop’s 2007 document
Forming Citizens for Faithful Citizenship.
