Comics Plus
Shorelink library members now have access to free comics and
graphic novels to read online through the Comics Plus database.
There is a huge collection of titles suitable for kids, teens and
adults. Titles can be read online on any computer, tablet or
smartphone with internet connection, or downloaded for 7 days to
read on your tablet via the Comics Plus ios app. Sign up today by
following the links from our website.
Stanton is also gearing up to participate in Comic Con-versation,
an annual week long festival celebrating the best of local comic
culture with events, talks and exhibitions across Sydney libraries.

Comic Con-versation 4-10 July 2016
An annual week long festival celebrating the best of
local comic culture with events, talks and exhibitions
across Sydney libraries. The Sydney wide program

„Some people see them...‟: A century of May
Gibbs‟ Gumnut Babies
Visit the new Heritage Centre exhibition celebrating
100 years since the publication of May Gibbs' first
Gumnut Babies book. Featuring original artwork, rare
books, archival material, costume and pottery, the
display explores the place of the Gumnut Babies in
Australian culture. Open now during library hours.

Guest speaker: Dr Anne Whitehead. Author, historian
and former TV producer-director with the ABC.
Topic: Betsy and the Emperor Napoleon
This is the first full biography of the family that
became too close to the exiled Napoleon Bonaparte of the adolescent Betsy Balcombe who charmed and
provoked him, and of William Balcombe, her father,
who narrowly escaped a treason charge because of
him, but extricated himself to become the first Colonial
Treasurer of New South Wales.
