The Story
Grape Varieties
G.H. Mumm was founded in 1827 by the brothers Philippe, Jacobus and Gottlied Von Mumm whose family were grape growers
from the Rhine region in Germany. The family purchased a significant amount of Grand Cru Vineyards during the 19th century
to guarantee the quality of their Champagne. In 1852, Georges
Hermann de Mumm, son of one of the founders, launched Cordon Rouge. The Cordon Rouge, or Red Sash, was inspired by Napoleon the First’s Légion d’Honneur—the highest French civilian
distinction. Cordon Rouge is now synonymous with the House’s
reputation for excellence.
100% Chardonnay
The Blanc de Blancs is a rare wine, dating back to 1882. It is
crafted according to the finest champagne-making tradition,
using the very best Chardonnay grapes selected from Cramant, a
Grand Cru terrior from the legendary Côte des Blancs where G.H.
Mumm acquired vineyards the very same year.
Initially served exclusively to friends and directors of the House,
this Blanc de Blancs is now appreciated by the most discerning
connoisseurs for its delicate effervescence and incredible purity.
This Cuvée Champagne is an exceptional limited edition
creation that can only be acquired in small quantities from wine
merchants and in the finest restaurants.
