El Cerro de las Mitras (Bishop´s Hat) is an imposing hill located within the

CAVES
GRUTAS DE GARCÍA
The Garcia caves remained hidden for thousands of years. The caves were discovered
in 1843 by the Marmolejo family, who in search of firewood in the area came upon a
cave, they told the priest named Juan Antonio Sobrevilla. The caves are surrounded
by desert and rocky landscape in which there are numerous smaller caves. They are a
very extensive series of galleries with date back about 500 thousand years. They have
a total length of 300 m and a maximum depth of 105 meters.
One can reach them by a cable car Teleférico de Grutas de García, that after an 80m
climb lead to the entrance to the caves. The interior is light up and consists of 16
scenes, 34m balconies allow a full view of the gallery.
Its impressive rock formations fill the caves called rooms. The guides provide
interesting commentary on the history of the place and provide imaginative
explanations of the names given to the whimsical figures formed by stalactites and
stalagmites sculpted by nature.
Some of the most famous rooms for their beauty and magnificence are the living
light, illuminated by a beam of natural clarity coming from a hole in the roof
of the cave, the eighth wonder, where a stalactite binds with a stalagmite to
complete a column, the air lounge, where a 40 meter balcony has a splendid
view and the viewpoint of the hand, from which a stalagmite is shaped like
a hand.
There are also many fascinating structures due to the formation of the rocks
and the magnificent illumination of the caves, like the birth, the frozen
fountain the Chinese tower, the theater and the Christmas tree.
Besides the natural grandeur that can be seen inside the caves, the walk to
